Dr. Finitevus takes being put into the wall (literally) so many times remarkably well, don't you think?
That "getting ready to fight" shot of the Chaotix with Finitevus joining them at the end of the preview is pretty humorous considering how absurd it looks. There'd be a lot more doubt about whether Fini is actually behind this or not if we hadn't gotten that scene between him and the platypus in SU #8. I mean, we know he's the bad guy in general, but because of that scene we also know that this is all one big set-up anyway. Kind of takes the fun out of it when you already know he's behind those chains because he has allies.
Still looks to be a fun ride.

Really, are you sure? Maybe that's what Ian just wants you to think and will actually make Fini innocent of the chains!

Pfft. I wish.
Nonetheless, I received the issue a few days back...
So after some thought, I think I realized why this arc has been so underwhelming to me thus far: I've raised my expectations too high. I think I went into this expecting "Knuckles vs. Finitivus EPIC EPIC EPIC" when I shouldn't have. Just as the past two issues have felt like set-up for this one, this arc as a whole now feels like it's a large set-up for many stories down the road. We have a whole Platypus Legion, Vector's past, the mysterious ruins, Thrash's past, and a lot of other things.
That said, I enjoyed this much more than the last two. It felt like something was actually happening, and I enjoyed seeing the DFF back. I liked that Knuckles never trusted Dr. F for even a second (avoiding a cliche there). Seeing the Chaotix teaming up with the DFF was certainly interesting, even if it did reignite my old hatred of Guru Emu (you're a Freedom Fighter, dummy!). Thrash was an intriguing character, and I didn't even notice Barby's redesign until I read about it on BK.
Quite interested in seeing what Dr. Finitivus' latest plan is and what Bill's motivation for turning on everyone is.
Great artwork and coloring as always. However, I couldn't really tell that the Platypus' bills were supposed to be cybernetic/mechanical.
Loved the off-panels.
Maybe Finitevus grabbed a bear and his band and harpooned Angel island so they could bring it down and have a bunch of dancers rub it's multi-coloured moon blood all over themselves j/k
Umm.....
so anyone wanna explain what Fini meant by Thrash being a failed experiment? What, they were trying to crossbreed echidnas and hedgehogs to make strong super speed creatures? Because the way this is going, that won't be explained for like 3 years and well...I just don't want it to fall to the wayside. But they took so much time in explaining it .
(I mean really. A full page to drop a hint to something that may r may not be important? NAAA its gotta be important)
EDIT: After a trip to BK, I got my answer, and I totally forgot about the devils in Ish 48. Man that was some smart thinking. All the coincided references make sense now.
Life finds a way :o. Though I really wanna see like an actual echidna now pop up. Also makes me wonder what else Fini has tested on. Couldn't be much, cause he's only been around what, twice as long as Knuckles? Maybe less?
