As someone who's never been much of a fan of Mobius: However Many Years Later, I've gotta say I'm actually looking forward to this one.
I reckon Sasha is Hershey and Geoffrey's daughter too =p
ditto
it has promise, may have to buy and review it. Shadow of course would be a harsh harsh king.
Geoffrey and Hershey? Gee ... when was the last time those two were around? Glad to see they're alive in some form.
The two rabbits on Page 2 look like a slightly miscolored Vanilla and young (probably around 1) Cream. Probably just a coincidence.
Actually, Sasha is the name of the sometimes black (and white/purple/whatever) cat among the three orphans Rosie and Mina used to babysit. Looks like she's got a Blaze-esque makeover here.
The brats are actually kinda cute. And it looks like they actually swapped the eyecolours like I've been saying they should've since the original 25YL. XD
it looks allright, i kinda hope that it doesn't retain the soap operaish feel it had before when it was just a backup, now that it's the whole comic that could be devastating.
I'd like to know how the five years went as much as the next guy, but I'm not sure I like the issue starting off with loads of exposition right off the bat.

You're right. Great ... now I feel pessimistic about this arch again.

OH MY GOD you're right! She is! That is so awesome.
I was hoping to see at least one of Rory, Snaggle and Sasha in the "Freedom Fighters of the Future" - at least we know where one of them ended up.

You're right they do, and I'm quite sure it was no accident probably a homage or whatever.
Edit: Come to think of it, it may supposed to be Cream 30YL and her daughter.

Meh. I would've liked some C-Lister's kids to get into the Future Freedom Fighters. I don't see why we have to have three sets of twins (Sonic/Sally's, Antoine/Bunnie's, Tails/Mina's) other then because it's a cop out to designing one well developed child. Makes them all seem a little one dimensional from where they could be.
Agreed on all counts.
But like I already said: I'd just like the FFFs to include one or two kids who aren't the kids of the same old familiar faces (just as I'd like to see a few other present day freedom fighters who aren't from the same old group when Knothole was supposed to be full of them)- weren't these children ever allowed to play with anyone else?
I... didn't even know they had names. 😡
Come to think of it, it may supposed to be Cream 30YL and her daughter.
Hm, but surely there'd be other rabbits on Mobius that could resemble Cream and her mother... it doesn't necessarily have to be them. Species in the Sonic books tend to look alike aside from certain facial features and fur patterns. See also: Mobius Hedgehogs.
Here's a stumper: If that's supposed to be an older and much more down-on-her-luck Cream... where's Cheese?
...
Ha... Sonia's inherited her mother's post-Yardley! eyebrows. Poor thing.
where's Cheese?
Dead? Don't bother with the details, man!

Well, if she's down on her luck, I'm sure he was enjoyed with a plate of crackers.

Post-Yardley? Sally's always had eyebrows. Sometimes the colourists just ignore them.

How delightfully morbid. Make it so.

You're talking to the guy who just found out the Knothole Orphans had names. Ever since Yardley took over artist duties on the book, his Sally's eyebrows had become much more pronounced. Yes, they've always been there... but... I could've swore I saw them waving to me, back there...
This is good reading so far, but is anybody else confused with the last panel??

Maybe. It just seemed coincidental that both of the rabbits are female and have the same markings. They even got the single eyelash that Cream and Vanilla got.

It didn't ferment yet.

Yeah. It seems like they gave Sally the wrong line.
If they didn't I'd guess that was a late response to the second panel on that page where the kids were telling them not to go. Since Sonic technically lost his family before the thought of leaving any of them alone might still make him nervous.
Nono, look.
Sonic and Sally say they're about to leave. Kids protest.
They immediately change their minds when Lara-Su shows up, quickly dismissing their parents.
Sally's question to Sonic is in response to his facial expression; she thinks he's upset at the kids brushing them off. He says he's just thinking about something else.
That's how it looks to me, at least.
They even got the single eyelash that Cream and Vanilla got.
Only Cream has that, and it's just because she's a little kid (Marine's exactly the same). Vanilla has two like other SegaSonic ladies.
...lot of talk about eyebrows and eyelashes here...
So she does ... I still say it's them.
...lot of talk about eyebrows and eyelashes here...
I'm picking at nothing and trying to make it something. Not work-ing.
Is it bad that I thought that was the most interesting thing about this preview?

The Devil made me do it!

That's exactly what I was thinking; I guess since he still remembers the original Sonia and Manik them not missing him as more sting than what it would have.
Speaking of that last panel, what is that golden thing Sonic is holding? A golden purse? The crown is still on his head, so I assume it's a no go on the crown theory.
I think it's his golden shoulder pads from SU #5's cover; notice how it looks like he's about ready to put the pad on his right shoulder.
anyone want to give me the cliff notes version of the events of 25YL?

While I'm likely forgetting a ton of detail...
First time around, Knuckles is refusing to let Lara-Su become Guardian despite her protests. The two and Julie-Su have a fancy house (complete with weird maid) in Portal, a new major city on Angel Island. King Sonic and Queen Sally show up with their kids Sonia and Manic. I think Sonic was on rough terms with Knuckles (whose eye he blew out stopping him from going Green Knuckles again) and Tails (who's married to Mina in Downunda). Lien-Da has a son named Rutan who's dating Espio's daughter Salma. She's on surprisingly friendly terms with Julie/Lara/Sally despite apparently wanting to know whatever Knuckles might be doing or something. Sonic is basically immature and unhappy about having to settle down as king. They have pool parties and slumber parties and talk about the weather being weird. Lara-Su has an equivalent of a debutante ball and after locking herself in a bathroom Knuckles agrees to let her become Guardian. Rotor and Cobor (an old echidna) eventually reveal to Sonic and Knuckles that the strange weather is caused by the universe falling apart thanks to Sonic's reality hopping in the past, and that if they don't do anything, the planet will be destroyed. They decide to send Sonic back in time to attempt to fix the damage. Lara-Su sneaks off with them and the whole thing ends with her evaporating as the timeline is changed.
Second time around, Portal is still a prosperous city only it's littered with people worshiping statues of Maria. Because of whatever Sonic did to fix the past, events change and King Shadow is in charge with Knuckles as his chief enforcer and Lien-Da working behind the shadows. Tails and Lien-Da (with Cobor's help - before he apparently was killed) protected themselves from the temporal changes with technology so they weren't affected it, while the people close to the "ground zero" affect of the time change have vague memories of the alternate timeline (for instance, Lara-Su sorta remembers Sonia and Manic from the previous timeline). While Shadow believes he is doing good things, he's pretty much become a violent tyrant and despite that Sally married him in an effort to rein him in, he's still pretty vicious to anything he thinks threatens his "utopia." Since Tails remembers the previous version of events, he tries to convince Knuckles that Shadow's actions are wrong, but gets brushed off. He then tries with Lara-Su, and she agrees that things aren't "right" this way and they both set off to find Sonic. As it turns out, because of the change of events he basically ended up a hobo, miserable that his kids no longer exist and he lost his wife and regretting that he took it all for granted before. Tails and Lara convince him to help down Shadow and fix things, but almost instantly Knuckles shows up to arrest them all for treason. Lara-Su is initially enraged at her father, but then he reveals the arrest was all a ploy to get them all into the castle hassle-free. He tells her to get Rotor (who had been imprisoned and beaten) to a hospital and when she protests that she wants to help, he says that Guardians have to protect others. Tails goes off to disable security while Knuckles plans to hold off any guards and Sonic goes after Shadow. Knuckles gets Sally out of the way (Shadow knows she doesn't have any feelings for him anyway) while the hedgehogs confront each other. Shadow, who also knows about the changed timeline (due to the whole Chaos Control/time-space thing), doesn't exactly plan on stepping down because he doesn't want what he created to be ruined. Unfortunately, Shadow is immortal while Sonic has aged, so the latter gets his butt kicked in a matter of seconds. However, Lara-Su bursts back in and after a short fight, she manages to induce a Chaos Control freeze of sorts on Shadow. With Shadow defeated, Lara-Su is proud of herself, Knuckles frets over her, and Sonic goes to Sally and talks about getting back together.
Yay wall'o text!
The second time line has a serious lack of jellystars and games of Situation, however. ;A;
Hmmm whoo that's a bit to take in but thank you for posting that.
Wha issue was this; cause I sure as heck missed on that second timeline for sure o.O?@?@?
The first timeline was spread out over... a ton of issues. Started in the #130s or so?
The second was #166-167.

Yeah, started during part 2 or 3 of "Home" in the early #130s, I'm sure. And then lasted all the way to #144, which the whole issue dedicated to.
EDIT: Received my issue today.
-I liked how Silver's entrance almost mirrored his first one. So random. XD I don't know if it's intentional, but his aura did have a greener color.
-I wonder if the Dark Presence is foreshadowing of what will happen soon to the DEL, or at least those willing to follow Lien-Da.
-The coloring on the cover is absolutely gorgeous. Hunzeker should do these more often. Really compliments Tracy's work here.
-The rest was okay. It was nice to see the characters just living their lives without all the fighting (for the most part) and the dialogue between Sonic, Sally and the kids was natural.
-Issue kind of felt like a fan-fic with all the kids, but it was still good. Still not really a fan of these "possible future" stories, but this one was well-written and left me wanting more. Thought Lien-Da firing the missile would've made a better cliffhanger though, but that's just me.
I really liked this issue. Loved the Lara-Su/ Royal Twins scenes. Liked seeing the Dark Legion as a treat in a Sonic book again. Didn't like the entrance of Silver. I hate when the Archie books tie in the comics to the recently crappy Sonic game characters. Well all in all I just hope this mini-series makes up for the rushed ending M25YL got. So far things look good.

Yup, he mentioned how she felt about having kids so we all knew what he had in mind
I haven't read the issue yet. I'm assuming it's already out but I need to wait until it hits the racks at Borders and I finish moving so i can get a bloody subscription.
I wonder what Lien-Da's up to and if she'll show up in this one or anytime soon.
