I've read many rumors saying "the only reason the Archie creators chose to have Sonic+Sally in the comics is because that's what fans wanted."
Whether these rumors are true or not, I want to know something for sure:
When it comes to story and character-arc, WHY was Sonic+Sally the wiser choice? Remember the issue where Sally is kidnapped by Fang, and then after Sonic rescues her, they kiss, which Mina notices. Think about that issue for a moment. How did the pairing contribute to Sonic's character development? How did it contribute to whatever themes/moral-messages that the storyline was trying to send? What exactly made it the right choice for the story?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not starting this topic because I hate Sonic+Sally. I'm just curious about this particular subject.

There's a VERY good reason why this rule exists. I hope you can respect that.
