In "Evolution of A Hero," you'll get a look back at the long-running hit comic series that has been thrilling fans for over 15 years! What's the connection between Sonic and the Freedom Fighters? Who are Shadow the Hedgehog and Knuckles the Echidna? What's the deal with that Robotnik guy, and what's going on in the series now? You might even get a special sneak-peek into the world of Sonic after the epic issue #200. Whether you're a new reader getting up to speed or a veteran enjoying a trip down memory lane, this is one issue you just can't miss! Fan-favorites Ian Flynn and Tracy Yardley! bring the fast-paced excitement to life.
This is a good idea and I like how it's coming out the same month as #200 (I believe my math is right). I think this is a good way to get new readers into the book. It should give the newbies a more general idea of what is/has been going on and should be a good refresher for some of the long time readers. I'm certainly looking forward to it. It should also be nice to get a sneak peek of things to come after #200.
I like the cover with all the different Sonics and the two Robotniks. Cheers to Tracy for the cover.
Wow, I love the art using the random Sonic Battle style version of Sonic there, aswell as the other incarnations. I'm impressed. If I can find a comic store in these parts I may well have to drop in on FCBD.

You can use this link to find a comic shop near you. Yeah, the different styles/versions of Sonic was a nice touch.
too bad they don't have walrus-shaped Eggman from the pre-Adventure games. I know he ain't in the comics but it was always my fave look for the tubby doc.

Well he is on the cover (he's on Eggman's checkered ball), and this issue is supposed to fill people in on the details, as well as serve as a summary (more or less) for the entire comic and its spin-offs. It's supposed to pretty much cover all the issues up until #200. I'd be surprised if he didn't appear or get mentioned at least once on the inside.
no i mean this strapping fellow...
no i mean this strapping fellow...
Ah. I see, misunderstanding on my part. It's like you said though, he was never in the comics. Although if I recall, he was on one of the Sonic mini-series covers (I think #0), but that doesn't really count.
Yeah, I can't wait for it either. There was only one other time I believed where they brought up past issues, though I am referring to STH #57 and actually it was part of the storyline and it only summed up the previous 50 or so issues. But anyways, I'm glad it's coming out.
You know what I'd really like. An Art Book that displayed the best Sonic art throughout the comic's run. Kinda like what they did on that one issue which had seven paged of Spaz's character designs for then upcoming issues.
...But I guess this is cool too...
Ian imparted some new information about this FCBD issue:
H'okie-doke! I just got the green light to spill some beans on FCBD'09.
This is an out-of-continuity book. There's no story to it, just facts.
The entire thing is in a style similar to the Data Files.
It's designed to be new-reader friendly while clarifying some points for veteran readers.
I know it's a sticking point for a few of you, so you'll be happy to know Dr. Robotnik's full origin is addressed.
There will be STH#200 and post-#200 spoilers. So if you want a tiny insight to the direction of the book a few weeks/months early, you'll catch it here.
I personally like the sound of it a little bit more personally.
Now this is an issue I'm rather excited for. I'll be sure to pick up a copy.
Uhh did I already miss this?
*Googles free comic book day*
Hmm... so they're going to be giving out this summary of the whole series for free on that day?
Think of it as an introductory guide for the uninitiated - like an issue full of Data Files.
For the dedicated fans it'll give an idea on how we're looking at the series as a whole, and it'll give some STH#200+ spoilers.
Are they spoilers that are really going to ruin whatever changes come about from or after #200 though? If it's something like, "Robotnik newest mech, the Egg Giraffe (which made its debut in #200)", that'd be cool, but I'd hate to have anything important spoilt (eg. "Antoine married the love of his life only to have an untimely death not long after".)
It'll be big, but it won't spoil everything. More of a tip to the big spoilery iceberg.

Just to add onto that, FCBD always falls on the first Saturday of May, so you still have plenty of time before it comes about this year.
