I remember seeing the advertisments for a Tails mini-series when I was a kid. Now, as you've probably guessed from my handle, Tails is my favorite Sonic character. The idea of him having his own series got me STOKED. Unfortunately, I slacked off on my collecting for a few years, so I didn't get it until just a few years ago. I was VERY disappointed. While the cover art is amazing, the panels themselves are far inferion by comparison. Tails himself is portrayed as a bratty, egotistical kid who, by a stroke of dumb luck, happened upon an adverture only to get his ass handed to him several times. And while the story was interesting at times, it mostly served as a chance for the writers to introduce two new and thoroughly unlikable groups of Freedom Fighters. Not to mention one of the worst badniks of all time, Crocbot, who felt the need to exposite himself every time he talked. I think Archie comics had a great opprotunity to develop Tails as a character (which he desperately needed at the time this story was written), but in the end, blew it.
The only good thing, for me, that came out of the mini was Athair, he's still one of my fav characters.

Tails' mini-series matured him. Count the number of times he refers to it after the point as a sign of how he's grown up (Mecha Madness, for one.)

Oh, no doubt there, the mini does play a signifigant role in his life. I just feel that the writers could've done a far better job with the story itself.
