Interesting, though I am always nervous when Archie's Sonic "shakes things up." This interview does leave me some hope that some things that I dislike about the comic now will not last.
Loving the interview. Makes me believe that life after Kenders will be worth reading again 
Intrigued by a few things, most notably the comment in the Birthday Bash bit, I assume the badniks are Crabmeat and Coconuts, but which cult favourite character? Archie has the majority of them covered, and as much as I pray it's Cream, I hugely doubt it.
Perhaps Bean/Bark?
As for Sonic Rush, it is more suited to Sonic X, really. Seeing it in the main canon would be a bit worrying, noting that we've already established alternate dimensions exist there and there's nothing truly interesting about alternate Eggman as the one we have already is.
I suppose what they mean is "Eggmen team up and Blaze joins the cast", rather than anything relating to the dimensional disturbance caused by Chaos Control, the reactions of the Sol/Chaos emeralds and anything that was actually interesting in Rush.
All the Rush stuff would have been nice and cosey in X.

Still a bit on the reluctant side, but I'm cynical like that. At least I'm a bit more at ease though. I'm still not purchasing anymore unless I hear the comic is turning for the better.
Tracy Yardley hinted (quite punnily) at who the cult favorite characters are, and they're an easy guess if you think about Ian's fan comics.

We already know for a fact that it is Bean and Bark. We have known this for a couple months. They are mentioned by name in the solicitation for Sonic 160.

Well, it's Bean and Bark in #160. #161 has the mention of "and if all thats not enough, things get even worse for Sonic as a long lost badnik from the early days comes back with a dangerous new twist!"
is what/who does Ian mean by " there will be loses on both sides", who is going to die on the Sonic side, I know it won't be any of the freedom fighters or chaotix, but I do have a feeling it could be (just my opnion) Sonic's Dad, Antione's Dad and Sally's dad, and/or maybe even Sir Charles.
But we'll have to wait and find out in time.

Out of the Freedom Fighters, Sonic, Amy and Tails are untouchable with permanent death due to Sega. Most of the others are unlikely as well, because Archie typically avoids killing major characters. In any case, killing Sally is highly unlikely as Ian has already said he has plans for her. Ant and Bunnie are unlikely, after all the work Ken went through to set up their reunion. Rotor and Mina seem killable, but both of them appear in M25yl, whcih is only a "possible" future, but I doubt Ian will go contradicting it this early in his run. Fiona is a possibility, but other than her that's about it. Oh, and if they kill Tommy Turtle again, I will scream. Alive or dead, I don't care, but just pick one!
As far as the Chaotix are concerned, Knuckles, Vector, Charmy, and Espio are untouchable because they are mainstream Sega characters. Julie-Su is a major enough character that she probably won't die, not to mention the M25yl appearance. Mighty also appeared in M25yl IIRC. I think Ray is a good candidate for death. He's completely extraneous and has almost no defined character.
So, most FF/Chaotix members probably won't be dying anytime soon.
I have no idea who will die at all if anyone, so I'll be surprised no matter who it is.
you make a point about the sega characters, but that didn't stop them from killing knuckles.(even though he came back rather quickly) but i'd LOVE for them to avoid killing characters that just sit on the sideline. characters like sonic's family, king acorn,or god forbid tommy.
i just want someone to die that has a lot of importance to the fans, you know a character that will make us all go

Why do people see the word "loss" and assume it means "someone will die?" There are a lot of ways to suffer a "loss" without anyone dying. ;p
About the "losses," I think at least one of them will be someone in a member of the FF's family, like one of Sonic's parents or Uncle Chuck. I see the point of not being allowed to kill off a Sega character, though techically all the Archie Sonic characters are Sega characters. Sally, I believe, became untouchable since "Endgame," because of the angry way some fans reacted. Same thing with the other core Freedom Fighters, I remember the outrage of some fans when the rumor started that Rotor was going to be robotized. Personally, I rather Archie play it safe with this, as long as it is done well, and lose a character that fans will be ok with. I know I would probably be upset if any of the core FF's where killed off, or otherwise done away with, and I am sure other fans would feel the same way.
Lastly, I agree with True Red about there are other ways to suffer "lose." For example, it does sound like the robotizer might be back in some forum, so that could happen to a character(s).
