Well, we are talking about Archie here.

I don't want blood, cursing, or sexual content in the books, I just would like to see the story/ character development taken more seriously. This story ark was a joke.

I agree with Exodus' statement that the series should be kept child friendly, but not that the storyline is a joke. For any Star Trek fans out there, this reminds me of a screenshot I once saw of the episode "Spock's Brain" that had a caption added to it that read as follows: "Look, not every episode can be City on the Edge of Forever, okay?" You won't be able to make the comparison if you haven't seen the original Star Trek series, but you get the jist of the statement: not every multi-part story is going to be great. For an example in Archie, you've got the Endgame saga as one of the most loved stories to span several issues, and then you have stories on the quality of Knuckles Quest (when he was looking for the Sword of Acorns), which wasn't nearly as good.

All things considered, House of Cards is a surprisingly decent story considering how many bad plot developments led up to it. Really, I think it's a great way to resolve Sonic and Tails' long unaddressed problems, while at the same time giving Elias the opportunity to prove that he's a better man than his prejudiced father. On top of that, this gets any conflict among the citizens of the Kingdom of Acorn out of the way so they can focus on the real problem coming their way: Enerjak.

I can understand that House of Cards isn't going to be a fan favorite for everyone, and truth be told my favorite part was when Mogul and co. were making cat calls during Sonic and Tails' fight. Still, you have to remember that it could have ended up a lot worse. I personally am glad that Sonic and Tails made up and that the Kingdom of Acorn has taken a step into the modern world instead of us winding up with a civil war when the gang is still supposed to worry about Robotnik.

Guess I my expectations were to high for the fight and rebellion. Anime ruined me to a lot of aspects of western story telling. Too much Gundam and Naruto for me.
