In case you hadn't heard, I struck jackpot today in NYC. I bought 37 issues in all. Most were Knuckles, but I had a few SSS's as well. The more I read of the super specials and the Knuckles stories, the more I am convinced that 3 stories is too many for one issue. 2 stories as well. In order to tell a coherent satisfying story, you really do need an entire issue.

Look at the Knuckles issues. Most if not all used the entire issue for their story. The Knuckles stories are amazing and I'm convinced a part of their success lies in their length.

Of course you could say Knuckles used a different format then Sonic does. Just look at issue # 111, that issue had 3 stories in it. Each of the stories(except maybe the last one) was taking place while the others were going on.

Knuckles would take all these different stories and mix them into the main one. Thus the often shifting scenes and the patented cotinuing text from one scene to another in the tiny little box. Personally I think the Knuckles style is more readable.

What do you think?

I agree that the style of writing utilized in the Knuckles comics is much more interesting and understandable than the three story format. The stories are so condensed in this form that sometimes it feels as if they accomplish nothing. But IMHO, the Knuckles comics were always far and away better than the Sonic series, even in STH's glory days. And when I see the kind of issues that the only surviving comic turns out now......well, let's just say that I miss the Knuckles series more than ever. It would definitely be better for both comics to have full issues to themselves, but that can't really happen when Archie killed KTE.

*sigh*

Although I must point out that sometimes Archie does use an entire issue and still screws the entire thing up anyway. Just look at S113. Actually, don't.
