Based on what I heard: Fang apparently tried to shoot Princess Sally (when her back was turned) while she and Sonic were walking together. (Apparently another character got in the way.)

Why did he choose to shoot the princess instead? What did she do to make Fang have something against her?
well she did knee him in the ****. yeah i'd be a little angry about that too.
Sonic is just a soldier in a war, Sally is a princess and occassional general of said army.
Why would you assume Sonic to be the more likely target?
well i suppose to elaborate more, craig is right. and at the same time Nack was holding her for ransom. and after all the interaction between the two of them. i'm sure he was angry with sally enough but in my opinion it seemed like he was going to shoot her because he knew that sonic cared for her more. which fit in with the little love triangle wrap-up that the writers were trying to do.
Yeah, Nack was ticked because an issue earlier Sally kneed him really hard in the crotch. He wanted revenge. Even if he did try shooting Sonic instead of Sally, Mina would have taken the bullet anyway. The whole story was actually meant more to wrap up the stupid love triangle in the comics than anything else. Also, Hypershadow and Craig listed some very important facts as well.
