Seriously, why did the writers focus so much on Tommy Turtle? His sacrifice was aweing and cute, but why focus 3 issues and several backstories on him? He was such a lame and lazy character, his name and his design. Was that Penders writing, or a combination of the comic's turmoil around #150?
It wasn't Penders this time well for the most part. I belive it was the infamous Romy Chacon responsible for the (overly lame) three issues. Penders gave Tommy nano-bots which caused his shell to morph into whatever he wanted. The latter caused anyone who had just a little bit of hope
Now I remember that writer. He didn't even pay attention to continuity at all. Was Tommy, his "Marty Sue?"
You mean "her". No wait, wasn't it really former editor Justin Gabrie trying to pass off random inventory stories/his own work as someone else's?
I don't think I ever heard the last of that little mystery.
That said, "Romy"'s first story that introduced and subsequently killed Tommy before he was resurrected into mediocrity was supposed to be some of that consequential "good stuff" that we get tossed every once in a while.
It was really that former editor? Wow, he should never write. Period. He wasn't that great an editor either. Wasn't it his fault we got Ron Lim as main pencilist for 20+ issues? No really, did upper heads of the comic at the time actually pass the 3 issues for sale? They were HORRIBLE. Don't even get me started when they did stupid arc with the original FF's.
Ken.. Ron.. Tommy.. the original FF's.. LOL!!! Okay, so. We're playing the game where we name all of the stuff that's on the "list-of-things-we-don't-talk-about."
All I know is, I'm glad Ian's around to make things right again. All the stuff you mentioned is what was happening when I got my first subscription back in the 130's. Imagine my horror when the first page of an Archie Sonic comic I ever saw in my hands was Ron Lim's NASTY spread in issue 131. And then Dave Manak's scary 132 came next. I tell ya, I'll never get over it. THERAPY!
I really want the artists to start writing for the comics. I'm sure they have a ton of good ideas.
I don't know. Has there been anybody who draws and writes decent on the comic? Seeing that most of the comic's life, neither have been done that well to be decent. Personally, it's harder for me to write a story than draw something. With a story, you have to pay attention what you do with the characters and make sure interesting. Right now, I'm trying to write a story where Marvel's Galactus tries to eat the Earth of Dragonball. But it's hard trying of thinking a way they could win.

According to Ian, Tig Stripe of the Original FF's have a "surprising show of interest from the fans" with lots of letters and fanart.
What about SHQ's very own Jon Gray?
He rescued some of Romy's mess in a story that he also had to draw. I wouldn't have gone near the Romy version of that story with even someone else's ten foot pole.

Well Iguess you coming true. well Sorta! It seems that Tracy is writing a Sonic-X issue if it isn't a misprint!
It's true. Yardley confirmed it as fact on Ian's message board.
Not so unusual that an illustrator would do some writing. There have been stories in the past where Ken Penders did pretty much everything except the coloring. But Editorial would either have to be very impressed or seriously short on content if the artist doesn't already have a track record as a writer. We shall see.

seriously short on content
That's a good thing, right? At least they're not trying to pawn off more inventory stories that were written 5 years ago as new content.
