1.) the artwork done by Tracy Yardley.
2.) is the slang they use, such as, "We bad? We bad, 'cause if we ain't bad..." or "The 'Hog is in the house" and other slangs they use.
3.) I love the plot lines now because during the past year or so, they've been using stories involving the destructix and the anti-freedom fighters and scourge. Those characters there along with shadow, are my favorite.
Odd that I'd be commenting on this since I haven't been following the comic series in YEARS, but I'd like to comment based on what I recall... I noticed the ArchieSonic series mixes a lot of things from different continuities while adding its own ideas and combining it into one big continuity. I remember when I was first on this site I noticed that in the character profiles list, most of the profiles seemed to be from the ArchieSonic continuity, and many of the descriptions had a lot about characters I hadn't even seen referenced in the comics I read. It made the ArchieSonic continuity look almost overwhelmingly complex... at least more so than the other continuities anyway. And it seems to have a bit of a crossover-like style to it when it combines ideas from the more recent Sonic games, the older Sonic cartoons, their own ideas, etc... all at the same time.
The plotlines. Before hand my sisters used to collect a lot of comics, usually marvel eg. Spiderman, X-men. I've always loved the stories that involved some form of doppleganger of the hero(es) involved, and the first impression I got of any Sonic universe was the movie, so naturally I looked for another hero with a more ongoing doppleganger with the sonic franchise. I found out about the archie comics, and wasn't disspointed, (the hedgehog has more impersonaters than Elvis. You got what?; several versions of metal sonic, Silver sonic, mecha sonic, Scourge/ evil sonic, super sonic, Shadow, and that night of a hundred sonics, if you can count that too) I like it even better that they are using Scourge and the Suppression squad, and I like the artwork too.
-The variety of artists that we're treated to.
-There aren't so many spin-off comics taking place in the same universe that it becomes convoluted and confusing, like DC and Marvel.
-The mix of new and old.
-Dr. Finitevus. Very cool villain.
-The recent portrayal of exactly how crazy Dr. Eggman is, and his complete disregard of the DEL's well being.
That's all I can think of at the moment.
The Artwork
The Sat a.m. characters, especially Sally.
Story. Deffinately the story. And Knuckles <3!
I haven't been keeping up for YEARS also until recently. And I'm liking the story so far. And I really like the artists at the moment too.
Hmmm... at least one thing?? Well I could say a ton of things but here's my top 3:
1. Sonic the hedgehog!!!! His attitude, style, and his speed! Just one of the coolest characters I've ever seen.
2. The stories! Over the years they've been generally action packed, suspenseful, dramatic.
3. The artists! Many outstanding artists such as J. Axer, Steven Butler, Dawn Best (where the heck did she go?!?!), Tracy Yardley!, I even really liked Ron Lim's art.
I like the synthesis of elements from various different versions of Sonic canon. I like the world-building elements. I also like the characters, but that's because I'm a Sonic fan, obviously, so that's not really particular to the comic.
"What's at least one thing you like most about the STH comic series?"
knux is my fave along with the characters tied to him and the stories involving them
Issues 25-84 are the best IMO.
Knuckles' own series until Manny Galan left is still the best thing Archis Comics has put out, i think!
I loved all the little specials and minis they put out from 1995-1999 (the glory years, i call em)
Best artists:
Manny Galan inked by Andrew Pepoy for interiors
Spaz inked by Ken Penders for covers
Penders was just o-kay for me on interiors
i dunno why galan wasn't used that much on sonic's own comic.....
jim valentino, altho great on stuff like shadowhawk and guardians of the galaxy, was really bad on the knuckles fill-ins he did, IMO
I only own issues from 1993-1999, but recently I got beck into them
I like the art by Tracey Yardley, that's great
the dialogue is still a bit cornball IMO
the thing that most attracts me is the integration of old forgotten characters like Ray, Heavy, Bomb, bark, and Bean. i also liked the Ixis Naugus trilogy from 06 and the Mobius: 25 years later storyline around then.
For now, i'll stick to the 96-99 stuff
