And a guy made a good point: There is only one city. If Acorn Kingdom grew to the size of a proper kingdom, then a democracy would make perfectly good sense. But if it's only the size of one city; Sadly, this means a single decision maker is more logical.
Probably Rosie or some other caregiver figure in Knothole.
Anyway, the Kingdom of Acorn isn't just one city. New Mobotropolis is the only area we know to be securely in the Kingdom's control, but they plan to regain possession of all their old territory. Given that, it makes sense that a new government is going to be needed. History shows that monarchies never last forever; eventually, the people get disenchanted or the rulers become corrupt, and a change is required to keep a nation from descending into anarchy. Of course, it might help if they could contact the rest of the Kingdom's citizens and see what their view on the matter is.
while i do love the web comic, does this honestly deserve another topic? it sounds like something you could just tack onto the 178 topic.
The question you should ask, more readily, is how they would have constructed one with two tail holes for him, and how effective a diaper with two holes would have been and the kicker, how disgusting diapers would be for a creature where it'd only allow for the excrement to get caked into the fur.
