This is just a for fun topic, and it does have some Archie related events in it!
Anyways, I was just curious to see who'd be making it this year or not. It'd be awesome to chill with some Archie Sonic fans! Old and New School! It shouldn't be hard to spot me there...My outfit is mostly that of blue and gold, and I have long flowing red dreadlocks. Can't guess who I am? Here's a hint! (It should be more obvious to the Knuckles fans.)
I'll post an image of the full thing in the near future!
OMG no way! I've never seen any Sonic Archie chars cosplayed before (and Enerjak of all characters, how cool!). Please tell me you'll be there all four days!
I'll be there. I might have Ken Penders and Rom Lim do a consignment sketch in two parts on a 360 gameface template. If Scott Shaw is there, I'm going to ask him if he's the secret artist on Sonic X #15.
I was thinking of cosplaying as Eggman, but I don't know anyone who sows, and it would be hard to get the material. Plus, I'd have to shave my head.
We might as well organize a Sonic gathering for the Con while we're here.
Sadly the only Con I can hit this year was Heroes Con, which has come and gone. Y'all have fun in my stead 😉
Ian, please come next year!
I'm planning on definately dressing up on Thursday and Saturday!
So I'll be very easy to spot. I have no idea where to meet anybody, simply because I haven't been there before.
I might go to California again when I graduate art college. It's gonna be more of a job hunt/adventure than anything else though. Gotta have a chance to build up my portfolio for the next 3 years.
Hey Ian! Are you planning on going to Megacon in Orlando this upcoming March? I'm planning on dressing up as Enerjak for that, too!
If I find you in costume I'll be sure to take a pic.
i'm pretty sure a freind of mine will be going, he's a large guy with a big vivid red mowhawk and glasses.(so he shouldn't be too hard to miss. >>)
he asks to be poked by anyone who knows me. get him to take photos!
Alright, so I asked Ken some questions this year which cleared a few things up:
One, the robot featured in Sonic Super Special #7, who is refered to as "Isaac" by Ian Droid had absolutely no connection to the golden E-Series droid named Isaac featured in "The Good, The Bad and The Unknown!" story arc. Ken's intention for the bot in SSS#7 was a reference to Isaac Asimov's Laws of Robotics featured in his novel, I, Robot, thus the pun stated by Droid. Ken mentioned that any connection between the two robots was unintentional.
Second, Ian Droid was to be revealed as the alternate Robotnik in Sonic #75 until further revision with the idea to adapt Robo-Robotnik into his SA incarnation. I know, some of you may know this already, but I guess this is more of a full explanation of Ken's original plans for his Ian character.
A more accurate Shadow the Hedgehog adaptation was considered for issues #157 through #159. Ken said two alternate storylines were written for this arc, besides what had seen print in the final product. From what I remember last year while speaking to Ken, a Shadow the Hedgehog adaptation was also considered for TGBU story arc, although there was very little content to base the game off of, due to the fact the game was still in early stages of development. In conclusion, #157-#159 were said to have taken much longer to come up with than the usual story arcs.
Also, a major spoiler about Finitevus's origin was revealed, at least what is supposed to be Karl's original idea for the character. Ken stated that he did not like Karl's plan, perhaps because it clashes with one of his own, although I can't confirm that half. I don't have the slightest clue if Karl is still sticking with his initial plan.
Ken is also selling limited edition prints, created just for the San Diego Comic-Con of conceptual artwork for the cast of his possible Sonic movie. Some characters have gone through somewhat drastic redesigns, such as Jules and Bernie in order to distinguish them apart from Sonic. Ken told me they are currently chatting with Sega and hoping he will be given approval to go ahead with the project.
I freaked Ken Penders out BIG TIME! He had the biggest grin on his face when he saw me walk up, and ended up giving me a free signed copy of Knuckles #8! Enerjak was so bad @$$ in that issue.
Spent most of my time at his booth chit chatting and talking to his booth assistant. (She happened to be best friends with Bri-Chan on Deviantart. I'm a big fan!) Most of it was how to get into comic arts in general. Also, we took a few pictures of my costume together. I managed to not say anything negative and got interested in looking at the covers instead. It's so WEIRD looking at them from real life...kinda like a surreal moment! Also, Ken had a copy of Super Sonic vs. Hyper Knuckles that I thought would never be able to purchase again, so I went ahead and bought that too! *dances* Yay Oldschool!!!
Anyways, Ken took a picture of me and said he was going to put it in his presentation for SEGA!!! I got really curious and asked him what it was for, but the most I got out of him was that it was a "secret."
Okay, and I couldn't HELP but asking a Dimitri related question!!! So does Dimitri have the guardian's ring or not? The answer is NO HE DOESN'T! O___O
I enjoyed my time their though! It was definately a blast, and there was at least 150,000 people there! It was hard to walk around sometimes...
I also met Tania Del Rio, Craig, and Andrew Pepoy at the Archie Room they set up on Sunday! I tried hunting down Pepoy again downstairs, but I couldn't find him...*sob*
I spent Thursday and Sunday walking around in the costume, and I ended up getting a lot of questions on who I was. I can tell you that got very annoying really fast!
I'm thinking about Cosplaying again sometime soon! My other favorite comic is Lullaby with art by Hector Sevilla! He's SO NICE in person!!! <3<3<3 Check it out if you get the chance. It's produced by newcomers Alias comics!
Pictures coming SOON!
Aw, I didn't get to meet you.
Post pics of your costume! I think Ken's "secret" involving Sega may have been for the movie.
Oh, aside from Ken, Ron Lim and Scott Shaw were there as well. Unfortunately, Ron didn't bring any of his Sonic work. Although I did request a sketch from Scott, which will be mailed to me in the next few weeks.
BTW, here is the print I was talking about earlier:
Don't mind the glare, it's too big for me to scan, so I took a photo. As you can see several characters have had minor revisions made to them. For example Sonic's shoes are now more aerodynamic, Knuckles has received a new pair of kicks, Tails' eyes are orange, Uncle Chuck is wearing a pair of glasses, Acorn family members are wearing purple, not to mention Sally has received an entirely new outfit and hairstyle and Julie-Su's hair is more symmetrical in the sense that it is does not have the jagged razored appearance from the comic book series. Ken also seems to have kept the Chaotix in their classic designs, at least Espio and Vector.
If you would like to know the Finitevus spoiler, let me know. I'll make sure to put spoiler tags around it. Otherwise, it may be worth just finding out through the series.
Tigsie, I saw you in your enerjak costume but could'nt reach you. I was in line for an autograph from Rosario Dawdson. (Sin City, Clerks II) I was screaming (Enerjak!! Enerjak over here!!) But I guess you couldn't hear me.
This was thursday afternoon. I was Ken's booth several times looking for you, but didn't run into you. Ken did a nice 360 gameface cover for me that's going on my X-Box.
I got a good sneak preview of David Hutichison's work on Sonic X as he did a $20 commision sketch for me that's absolutley gourgeous! Lookout Spaz and Tracy!! I will post the faceplate and sketch very soon.
Here we are;
Ken cleverly worked around the holes I would have to punch out for the faceplate. Now when I push the on button, I'll be sticking my finger in Sonic's mouth.
Since neither Ken nor Karl works for the book anymore, it shouldn't husrt to reveal the "spoiler" for Dr. Fin. It's probably no longer accurate.
are those supposed to be sonic parents in the print there? because i don't recognise their design.
Notice that Jules (along with Bernie and Charles) is in the flesh/blood. Interesting. Makes me wonder if this movie is actually going to happen...
Oh, and I'm also interested in that Finitevus spoiler.
OMG, I feel so bad now for not hearing you in the autograph room! It's hard to hear things with the mask on, and I just totally zone out when I'm in that room for some reason.
Did you ask Ken if he saw me or did you want to keep it a secret surprise?
I went to Ken's booth around Late Thursday afternoon and Late Sunday afteroon.
I SAW that print, but I didn't know what it was for! ;___; I didn't realize he was giving them away! I like Sally in this purple outfit. Seems kinda western-like.
And I WANNA HEAR ABOUT FINI!!! Spill it!
Ken wasn't just giving them away, I wish he was, but he priced them at $50 dollars. Ken made very few prints, like about ten or fifteen, so I guess they will become quite rare. Yes, those are Sonic's parents. Ken told me the movie would be a retelling of the Sonic series in the Archie universe.
I wanted to ask Ken if he had seen Enerjak, although I was hoping I would eventually run into you. I know this was more directed towards you shigamado, but yeah, I didn't want to spoil anything for Ken either.
Anyway, here we go with the spoiler about Fin:
Spoilers (Select To Read): Finitevus, as some fans have theorized, is a revamped version of Dimitri. Ken most likely didn't agree with this due to the fact that Dimitri is still in his cybernetic form in M:25YL, at least his head is. Ken didn't know much more about the character other than that. I some how don't find this surprising since Fin seems to have a vast knowledge of magicks and sciences, and Dimitri has gone through two personas based upon both. Fin may just happen to be a combination of the two, which may result in what sounds like technomage (mentioned in #163). Ian couldn't answer my question on his board, whether Finitevus was a technomage or not. I'm guessing it would have revealed too much about his character.
Please note this was Karl's original idea, so it may have been scrapped.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ian's doing the very same thing actually.
Spoilage below!!!!!! I tried not to reveal to much.
Well...there goes my Finitevus x Lien-Da fan artwork! *rips it apart* ^__^;;;;;;;;; LOL! How disturbing...At least it's not official yet.
But that makes perfect sense though! (I don't think a lot of people were very happy about his robo-makeover anyways.) I'm thinking it could fill in a little bit of that huge gap of why Lien-Da stated that Dimitri was no longer with them. Still that's one big plot hole to fill in! But...it's just not the same. It's going to take me a long while to get used to that idea.
Dude. First my obsession with Dimitri and now Finitevus. That certainly explains a lot. I was wondering why I liked him so much. I'm up for explanations on how Dr. Fini got the way he is though based on the facts at the moment.
The Fin/Dimitri idea sounds pretty good but the whole thing about the revelation messing with M25YL thing sound a bit weird reason for the idea to be drop since M25YL it was supposed to be non-canon.Anyway Tigergirl Soldier can't wait those pics of the Enerjak costume.
Shhhh Tigsie, I like Robo-Dimi XD
I don't much like the idea of Finitevus being Dimitri revamped, but I guess it's Ian's decision now huh? =P
Well, the M:25YL theory was my guess. Either way, Ken didn't like Fin's role.
Aaah, well, one of these days... Someday... I'll make it to ComiCon. In the meanwhile... YOU! *points at Tigsie* I must see pictures of your Enerjak cosplay. ^^ Sounds like ya' had a good time. Have a safe trip back over here when ya' head back to this side o' the country. =)

Ive tried n tried to convince Potto to hit more cons but the thing is, its tougher for him (as a writer) to get to them. Most artists, when they want to hit a convention thats out-of-state, work the con (Artist Alley) in order to cover the travel costs. Writers have less product to push (aside from their comics themselves), so unless their publisher or the con itself is splitting the bill theyd take a big hit just to get to a show.
Im pretty sure Tracy does MegaCon, though.
Due to my work schedule/fianances (and everything Matt/Reily85 said) I can't really get out to the Cons. Heroes Con was different - I live right there. I might be able to swing by the Tonronto Con this September for a day just because I might be in the neighborhood.
I hope to one day be in a position where I can hit all the Cons. Til then, it's going to have to be in the local areas.
Seconding/Thirding/Millionthing demands for Tigsie-as-Enerjak pics!
BWHAHAHAHAHa! Here I am in all my powerful glory! Ph33r Enerjak!!! :evil
JOIN ME OR ELSE!!!!!!
Foolish Mortals....
WHAT?! I bow to NO ONE!!!
GGGRRR!!! Stupid Tigsie! Obey my commands!
Ah, much better! I'm watching you...
I PWN all!
Hope you enjoyed the show! Cosplaying is awesome! Not sure who I'll transform into next, but it's definately a hobby I want to get into even more now.
Tigsie, you are made of AWESOME. NICE job on the outfit!
I'd probably get into Cosplaying if ANYTHING AT ALL happened anywhere near where I live. Sadly Kentucky is the host of nothing cool; I don't think there's one convention that happens in this state that's worth going to, unless its a Hillbilly convention or motorcycles or something.
Tigsie, that costume is made of win <3
Yep, that was definitely you I saw at ComicCon. Next year we ought to schedule a meeting of us Sonic HQ fans. Maybe by Ken Penders Booth.
Gourgeous eyes BTW. I ain't trying to flirt. I'm just saying.
Fantastic! Well done, Tigsie ^^
Best thing ever? Just might be
GREAT costume!
I've always wanted to try cosplay, but I've noit got the confidence to pull off the inevitable short skirt. 🙁
Pretty amazing!
i envy your costume and the powers behind who made it! (if you made it yourself, all the funkier!)
my only attempt at cosplaying failed horribly. ^^; i love outfits that obviously have had time and effort put into it.
how many people guessed who you were?
Holy crap! Its enerjak in OUR world! Quick contact the brotherhood at once!!!!!! Really cool costume. I can't believe you made that. Very great imagination.
