Why it stinks to have a good idea about the comic

It stinks that I've had a good idea about the comic. Because if I mention it, then the Sonic writers won't be able to use it, because it's outside material. (True they didn't stop them from using my Metal Sonic Army idea without giving me an acknowledgement, but hey).

So, in the vain hope a writer who works for the comic will come up with the same idea, I can't say my idea, which stinks.

Um, isn't that what fanfiction is for?

You've said this several times now. Give us some definitive proof, and not just "I wrote a fanfic about lots of Metal Sonics making trouble."

Instead of worrying about your situation, why not start writing? Maybe if you improve your writing skill and write imaginative stories, down the line they can hire you and you may implement your wonderful storylines.

Forumer A: I've got an idea for the Sonic comics but I can't tell you what it is.
Forumer B: Is it about Metal Sonic Armies?
Forumer A: AARGH! Get outta my head!

Well, it's not like there was another Sonic comic that had an army of Metal Sonics that they could've gotten the idea from.

Heh 😉 @ Charles

The writers don't even pay attention to fan creations. There's such a thing as someone else having the same idea as you on their own.

Allow me to clarify.

Back on the TSF message board, and the original Netraptor Message board, I wrote an request for a piece of artwork.

With Sonic, Shadow, and Metal Sonic MK III fighting off a horde of Metal Sonic MK Is on top of a pile of already destroyed ones.

With Red Emperor in the back ground.

Sound familiar?

Alex, if you're not going to pay attention to the fact that Archie creatives aren't even visiting tSfMB nor Netraptor's (among other places), then there's really no hope for you.

What Red said. They don't visit those places for that exact reason.

So does coincidence. Especially when developing something from the same source material.

Hence that whole Mina the Mongoose/Mimic the Moonrat mess a few years ago - and the fan character'd never even been pitched to Archie.

Mimic the Moonrat? First time I've heard of it. What happened?

When Mina Mongoose first appeared, it was noted that her design was similar to that of fan-character Mimic the Moonrat. IIRC both had yellow fur, rounded ears and long, lilac hair.

And Mimic's creator was convinced that it was a case of character theft, and was reportedly very upset.

But I wouldn't have said that the design was that unique - and especially not when you're dealing with a series that seems to have a limited number of ways of depicting canines, rodents and whatnot.
