What is your favorite moment(s) in the STH series? Can be one or more moments.
My Top 3:
STH #156 - Sonic's confrontation with Patch.
STH #51 - The whole nightmare thing.
STH #161 - Sonic knocking some sense in Scourge.
Sonic #115: Seven pages of Spaz
It's the one issue, even with that horrible genie story, that I go back to the most. The sketchbook pages that was at the time possible upcoming ideas and paths which the series was going towards was a great insight to his artwork and his creative style with the characters in the comic.
Yeah I know it isn't what most would consider a "moment", but I do darn it.
... I do! ;__;
My favorite Sonic moments hmmmmm.... I believe I can answer that!
Here are my five!
#5) Sonic LTD#0- It was the very first Archie Sonic comic and is one of my most cherished possessions! The story may be simple and outright silly, but I can always open it up and it will put a smile on my face! Plus the art of Scott Shaw! stills looks good to this day when compared to Dave Manik's!
#4) STH#25- I love this issue for mainly one reason, SPAZ! His artwork was among the best he ever crafted for a Sonic story. His rendition of the characters (Metal Sonic especially) was in my opinion better than any piece of art the actual Sonic Team could produce!
#3) KTE#25- Knuckles finally meeting his father after all the years they had been apart literaly brought a tear to my eye! It is extremely rare that we get stories with such emotional weight in the sonic series. Forget all the trash that Ken Penders wrote late in his Sonic career, this him at his prime!
#2) STH#108- The mid story starring Hope blew away the other two stories in this issue, and it was only five pages long! It was a great step in cementing the character into the continuity, and the art by J. Axer certainly didn't hurt! The only sad thing was that Hope was essentialy forgotten in following issues, and didn't even show up again (majorly) until way later!
#1) SSS#2- The Brave New World story blew me away in every way imaginable. It was great to see the Freedom Fighter's try to rebuild and actually live in what was once Robotropolis. Also the revelation of Sonic's parents and the fact that Uncle Chuck hid their exsistence from Sonic added layers of depth that the comic had been sorely lacking up until now! This comic presented the series with loads of opportunities that for some odd reason they decided to pass up! I look at this issue and ponder on what could've been the future of Sonic! It is for all those opportunities that I place this issue ahead of the rest!
The end of "Endgame'" the super special verison.
My fav? well i guess when in #190 something when sonic was fighting w/ super scourge....and he like tricked him....yeah. but sometimes it freaks me out when in earlier comics when sonic would kiss sally or something *shutter* its just...weird for me to see
Sonic #53 - Sonic and Knuckles bury the hatchet.
Sonic #130 - Everyone is happy to see Sonic return.
Sonic #142 - Amy finally achieves her goal of being a Freedom Fighter.
"I -crackle- do not deserve to live. I betrayed my -bzzt- friends and loved ones."
Mecha Madness Special for sure. Mecha Sonic vs Mecha Knuckles - #*%!+% badass, man. That, and its drawn by Spaz. Too much win.
Oh man dude I LOVED that ****. Totally. I also enjoyed the earlier Super Sonic v. Hyper Knuckles.
Yeah I'm definitely gonna hafta edit this post, but Mecha Madness was completely stellar and some of the best artwork Ive' seen. Ever. Good call Gyser.
I do enjoy the recent issue where Sonic defeats Eggman once and for all.
The very first issue with Ray wearing his jacket (I can't remember what Issue was that, I think it was the Home Arc, but I'll edit to make sure).
Sonic #40: His Court Marshal at the time of reading was so weird how cold the Freedom Fighters was to Sonic, even with what happened previously one would think that he would have SOME leeway or at least take to account that he was their #1 hero. That and it was the very first issue I ever read of the Archie Sonic The Hedgehog Comic.
Oh yes, how could I have forgotten? That issue was pure win, too.
Good call Gyser.
I have to be honest. Even now, reading that one line from Sonic still brings a tear to my eye, every single time. It was just such a fantastically written moment. I only wish the series could have kept that sort of thing up instead of falling and rising like it did.
