So basically, a group that is supposedly otherwise conservative, but happens to oppose federal bans on recognizing gay marriage, and represents "gay conservatives," sponsored CPAC, which in turn is being boycotted by many other conservatives over this. If you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to ask for a glass of milk.

One has to wonder why GOProud even bothers, if so many conservatives want to refuse their help over... well, their opposition to such bans on gay marriage is what the conservatives quoted in the article cite, and maybe it has something to do with them even representing homosexuals in the first place... whatever, either would be a trivial thing to boycott over.

I guess the question should be who CPAC will side with. I'm not fond of conservatism in general (or at least that which self-identifies as conservative; I don't regard ideology labels as sufficient to describe the variation in human opinions) but my respect for CPAC might be slightly higher if they side with GOProud than if they side with Liberty University or the FRC.

After all, if one group reaches out to help and other groups are saying "DON'T ACCEPT HELP FROM ANYONE WHO DOESN'T WANT GAY MARRIAGE FEDERALLY BANNED" then it's pretty damn obvious which side doesn't deserve to be pandered to.
