NOTE: VIDEO DISTURBING AND NSFW
Anyone who'd claim, after incidents like these have been videotaped, that girls wouldn't rape guys, has to be either willfully ignorant or just dishonest. Now granted, rape isn't quite going on here, but the very nature of their sexual abuse against this guy (continuing despite, if not partly because of, how terrified he was, for example) refutes every reason that comes to mind for the assumption that girls wouldn't rape guys. No more room for this "oh they're just trying to get out of child support/out of trouble for cheating on their girlfriends etc..." dismissal of court cases about it anymore, this time it's undeniably there.
There's also the question of how people would react with the genders reversed; likely more judgmentally to the guys who would do such things than they are to these girls. Prank or not, it's quite telling about these girls that they'd do this, and them getting away with it is quite telling about society. For what it's worth, I'm a little more tolerant of double standards in the context of stuff like "statutory rape" if we're talking about light sentences for female pedophiles who have consensual sex with underage boys who definitely wanted and liked it, maybe because I'm inclined to perceive it as sexually generous or something.
But this? Blatantly cruel sexual abuse to a guy who obviously didn't consent and was terrified out of his mind? No room for a reasonable doubt that it happened, since the perpetrators literally provided the evidence against them? They ought to be locked up. None of this "his mother doesn't want to press charges" crap, that should NOT be a requirement, especially since his mother's (expressed) reasons for not wanting charges pressed were utterly ridiculous. ("Let the parents punish the girls." [Sarcasm]Yes, because they've done such a fine job raising them so far.[/Sarcasm])
Quite frankly, double standards like these also make me wonder if it's equality women (generally, not all) tend to want, or just as many of the advantages associated with males, and as few of the disadvantages, as they could get. How else do you explain there being so much less protest against double standards like these than against double standards against women? Perhaps that's misogynistic of me to even talk about, but then again, perhaps reality isn't always politically correct.
EDIT: Come to think of it, that link is rather NSFW. It could use a warning.
The mother doesn't want to press charges????? Can someone, PLEASE press charges? Also: children can't bring the attention of something like this to the police? What??? Why. >=(
