So... Obama's been in office for about have his term, at this point. Do you think he's doing well?
Personally, my opinion is that alot of people, especially a vast majority of Democrats, (I am a republican) were kinda hatin' on Bush, and alot said it was because he "wasn't well spoken" in that he used a sense of humor during speeches, and well, wasn't well spoken. And then, a vast majority of those who said that, then proceeded to say "Obama is such a relief after Bush." and similar opinions. But, I don't exactly agree that Obama is all that well spoken either. So, I'm wondering what people think about Obama as a whole, and if I'm the only one with the above stated opinion.
First, half his term? Dude has just under 3 years left. Even if the Republicans win in 2012, he's got till Jan 2013 till he stops being President.
Second, I think he's doing quite well. By this time in Bush's terms, all he'd accomplished that was not a reaction to 9/11 was No Child Left Behind (no, I don't count 9/11 as one of his accomplishments. Truthers are silly geese who need to be put next to Birthers and Westboro Baptists on the Ignore Bus). In constrast, Obama's implemented the bailouts that Bush started, gotten health care reform that was 50 years overdue passed and worked with Russia and other countries to reduce nuclear weaponry stockpiles by 30% (something that really hasn't been done since Reagan worked to reduce stockpiles by the exact same percentage). Not a bad first year and change, honestly.
Thirdly, Bush was not a good Speaker. He seemed to have a tendency to get speeches over with quickly, a habit that caused him to make his many many gaffes. Obama talks slower, and while he has the annoying pauses and 'um er ahs' that plague people who seem to think a lot while speaking, he still puts things in a clear concise manner that doesn't feel like he's rushing through his material. The real thing that Obama lords over Bush in the speaking department is his voice. He emotes on and emphasizes the exact right words. Bush's southern drawl was a massive handicap, and from listening to him speak while he was governor I have no idea why he stepped the drawl up while President because Governor Bush did not 'folksy it up' nearly as much as President Bush.
So yeah, I'm relieved about Obama being there after Bush. He's easier on the ears and the brain.
