Is morality an absolute or a societal construct based around the perceived measurement of acceptable normality?
Discuss.

I wouldn't say it's about "normality" so much as "right vs. wrong behaviour" but I wouldn't doubt it's a social construct; obviously the conclusions humans come to as to what is right and what is wrong would be a product of our psychology, which is ultimately a product of how we evolved...

if a kid throws a lego block at his little brother he would laugh until his mother tells him that's wrong, from that you could reason its taught...... although the kid would also know its wrong to hurt or hit someone from the expression and cries of the other person, so its also in our nature to not want to make others get sad cause we know its wrong.

i believe morality is in all of us, but needs to be taught to understand. its important though for our survival if we didnt have it we'd live in chaos, imagine if we all did the wrong thing we all stole and we all killed each other where would humanity be? its very important to have morality although some humans with mental problems lack it and so turn very evil. others however deliberately cross over their morality ignoring their mind's plea for them to be kind so that they can gain more out of life.

Neither. It's an instinct at an individual level.

OTOH there is such a thing as absolute truth and probably absolute morality, both imperceptible to humans.

So is the issue we're debating really the flaw of the human condition, a scenario that renders the existence of an absolute irrelevant as its nature could never be truly understood?

Honestly I don't know, I'm just a little hyper atm...

Human nature, you mean? While I doubt we would ever understand it completely, I think understanding of it can improve over time, as science uncovers more about the evolutionary history that led to it... then again, it doesn't exactly help that some people (ie. creationists, etc...) seem to insist on denying the real origins of it...

In all honesty, I can't help but perceive morality and morally wrong. It just sets you up for punishment and reprisal in a world that barely cares anymore.
