I loved the one about pe- sorry, animal companions. And yeah, how the HELL is Down's Syndrome offensive but Down Syndrome isn't? 
I don't know if such standards exist here in Brit- sorry, the United Kingdom, but if they do, I'm sure not many people pay close attention to them.

But on a reasonably serious note. Yeah, I agree with what SP said. It's impossible for words on their own to insult, it's context and people that make them insulting. This is definitely all a case of political correctness and so forth TO THE EXTREEEEEME!

I don't get offended by words unless they're directed at me in a deliberatly foul manner with intent to insult. The exception being when I'm particularly irritable, otherwise I just don't see the point in getting so upset about a bunch of sounds.
