From Countdown With Keith Olbermann:
3-12-07 The intolerant and intolerable Bill O'Reilly. Blaming a kidnapped teenager in Missouri for his own sexual abuse was not sufficient. A few weeks ago, he blamed the house fire in New York City, which killed nine children and the mother of four of them, on "so-called compassion," because his show could not confirm the victims were not illegal aliens.
He described sympathy and compassion for the dead, kids burned alive, as a "new tactic by the pro-amnesty, open-border crowd, using children to demand sanctuary for illegal aliens." He actually said that. Any issue can be freely discussed, should be discussed. The issue of amnesty or borders or tactics is for the moment, in the Bronx, with the funerals only today, irrelevant. Prioritizing it is indefensible. It is inhuman. Bill O'Reilly has left the human race.
3-23-07 Had his radio engineer turn off the mike of his own co-host, Lis Wiehl, because she said Gonzales-gate mattered and because she reminded him, under the president's offer to Congress, Karl Rove and company would not have to testify under oath. "Stop talking," he yelled at her. "It's not about you, and you're misleading the audience. Stop talking." He then had her mike shut off for three minutes, and asked rhetorically about Wiehl, "What can we do to her? What can we do to her?"
Bill-O, she has to sit next to you for two hours a day. You are already doing just about the worse thing you can do to her.
4-2-07 He didn't like what his guest was saying about the prospect that the Bush Administration had violated the Geneva Conventions. The guest was Colonel Ann Wright -- retired after nearly three decades in the U.S. Army.
The end of their on-camera exchange?
Colonel Wright: "I want to make sure the United States treats people properly..."
Billo Baxter: "Sure you do. Sure you do."
Colonel Wright: "I surely do. That's what I spent 29 years of my life trying to do."
Billo: "Sorry, no you didn't. You know what happened to you somewhere along the line you started to dislike your own country"
Colonel Wright: "I served 29 years. How many did you serve? Where did you teach the Geneva Conventions?"
Billo: "Cut her mic."
So you cut her microphone off, big man. You make-up stories, and people kill you with the facts. You make threats, and your intended victims laugh at you.
Now you're cutting off mics. Are you trying to re-create the last six weeks of Joe McCarthy's career, or is it just a coincidence?
In before sh*tstorm
IBTSS as well
In before it as well as well
Same here.
I love how it's cowardly to do what he did, but to say the worst people on earth are consistently Republican talk-show hosts is fair.
(On another note, I dislike O'Reilly. I may agree with the man's politics, but I dislike the guy.)
I approve of the previous 4 (not counting SX's) posts for adding such thought-provoking contributions to this brilliant discussion.
And what is there to be said of this, Marauder? I thought it was already common knowledge that Bill O'Reilly is a senile old twat, and loves to silence his opposition whenever he's losing an argument.
Nothing's to be said, really. He just doesn't seem to have anything better to post than generic anti-republican 'news' tidbits that are more or less democrats claiming republicans are worst/evilgeniuses/morons/crazy/genericallybad.
There goes that crazy pot again.

You mean that's not what you're supposed to do in Marble Garden?
For the record:
Republicans like O'Reily =/= Reasonable Republicans
I agree! Kinda!
For the record:
Conservatives =/= Republicans
Republicans haven't really existed in policy since Reagan got elected and invented Neoconservativism.
Does Conservative = Reasonable Republican? *poke*
Conservatives and Liberals are by definition unreasonable since they prescribe to a preconceived set of beliefs and remain staunchly unmoving on them.
Come now, I don't agree with any single side on EVERY issue...
