It's at the bottom of the page. They even have a video of a little robotic doohickey running around apparently using -real life brain tissue- to decide if the electronic ultrasonic sensors think there is a wall nearby. Do you think these animals are still alive and sensing this? I personally think they are...
Well, I dunno about the moth head (although they say it's dead) but the rat neurons were grown in a lab and the connections between them were formed not to control a rat, but to control the robot. So, it's not really rat brains at all, really. I think.
Totally makes me think of Robotnik. The animals into robots thing.
I think they may also may be able to still feel things but it's hard to know for sure.
Reminds me of the movie Skyline.
I wanna Zombie Moth car. D:

I'm having Cybermen flashbacks here, this is really creepy. As far as whether or not the rat neurons are aware, I don't think so. Awareness is a higher brain function, I don't think there's enough there for that to even be possible. So far as I can tell, they're taking the wiring that all living creatures have and seeing if they can be applied to robotics.
What's that, animals turning into robots you say?
Interesting...
You have it all wrong Gamma, that was robots turning into animals! It's completely different!
