Then why do so many people perpetuate 'Digimon came first!' then?

Because Pokemon didn't come over seas until 1998...I'm pretty sure Digimon come over before pokemon...
Yeah, they seem to be in that mindset because the Digimon toys debuted in the U.S. in 1997 before Pokemon Red/Blue video games and anime, which like Hiro said was 1998.
The Pocket Monster anime also predates Digimon Adventure 01 about 1 1/2 years ago. =)
Although the Digimon anime is much better than Pokemon. At least Digimon has a plot of some sort. Pokemon's like those old superhero comics where every issue is something different, with the occaisonal saga along the lines of a Superman/Batman team-up or something.
I personally would like to see this show if it get dubed.
The odds of Digimon being dubbed are - in my opinion - quite high. Considering that they dubbed the first four, it wouldn't be surprising to see them dub the fifth season.
Now the only question is...who dubs it?
The list of contenders includes...
4Kids
Viz
Funimation
Who would you want to dub Digimon Savers?
Why wouldn't Disney be included in this list? They did the dubbing in Frontier and it's more likely that this show would end up in Jetix(the US Jetix at least) anyway?
Plus, they dubbed the four movies recently.
I don't get Jetix so I really hope YTV will pick the show up like they did for the first 4 series.
I was just thinking off the top of my head. Those three were the first ones to come to mind.
Don't Disney still own the rights to Digimon in the US? I'd want them to dub it anyway, or the part of Disney that's still Saban. They dubbed all 4 seasons, and besides some questionable script-writing (mostly in the second series), the voice actors they hired were always top-notch. Can't comment on the recent movie dubs, but the fact that they went out of the way to get Jeff Nimoy who hadn't been with Digimon since 02 to write the dub for Revenge of Diaboromon shows that Disney aren't so bad. I believe they got most of the original voice actors to return as well.
With 4Kids or Funimation, I've never liked many of their voice actors. As with Sonic X, I get the feeling their voice director is pretty lazy and doesn't care about the characters.
Hopefully it won't end up like season 4. Kids with Digimon partners > Kids transforming into Digimon.
That was the aspect of Frontier that turned me off the most; the lack of Human-Digimon partnership dynamics that made the first three so interesting to watch.

Why do you all care so much about a cheesy Pokemon ripoff anyhow?
I would answer, but the fact remains that this is one of those topics where you come in, insult the thing and/or people talking about it, then leave and not come back to the topic again.
Seems like the new google boy (is the main guy wearing goggles?) is the usually Tai/Davis/Takuya of the series. Awww, shame since I've always perferred Takato over all of them (he's just so lovable).
And a main character with an Aussie father? That's a first I've seen in a japanese anime.

I hope there are some decent villains this series. I don't want any of this "oh it's a virus Digimon so it's evil. Kill it!" stuff.
Who wants to bet Leomon dies for the fourth time running?! Any takers?

Someone put this in MFC2 plz. D:
How many posts are required before it gets moved?
plz?
It's taking up a lot of room here on the main page. I say we put it back to 50 post 'till MF2.
I find it hilarious that the character everyone assumed was a girl who sorta looked like Jeri turns out to be the lead male character, and the androgynous looking character art turned out to be the girl. XD
The Australian kid looks a bit like Willis from the Digimon movie, and the girl looks okay to me. What do you guys think everyone else think?
BLASPHEMY!! The leader doesn't have googles.
Also for those who want a closer look the official site is updated with profiles.
Translation of the new color artwork.
I'm kind of surprised the female character is four years older than the two guys. oo
Digimon wont be the only ones fighting. 0_o
That Kokatorimon is a lot bigger than the one that chased Sora and Mimi around in their bathrobes.
Hmm. I just hope Digimon doesn't go DBZ on us.

March 23, 2006
Toei Animation and Bandai Japan are re-launching the Digimon property in Japan with a new anime series Digimon Savers, which will debut on Fuji TV on April 2nd. The new anime series will be accompanied by a new wave of Digimon toys and a new version of the Digimon CCG known as Digimon Card Game Alpha. According to sources inside Bandai America Digimon fans here in the States can expect to see the re-launched Digimon anime and its accompanying products starting in the summer of 2007.The Digimon Savers anime takes place in the near future after the existence of the Digital monsters has been confirmed by the discovery of the Digital world inside the Net. As more is learned about the Digital world it becomes apparent that, although they are rare, there are evil Digimon, and a group DATS (Digital Accident Tactics Squad) is formed to combat them.
Interesting. Here's an image of the cards.
The first ep has aired, and it looks like it's quite good. Here's a few screenshots...
As you can tell from the last two pics, the DATs operatives have their own specialized uniform. Masaru's looks quite, umm... well, you can see for yourself. >.>
The big Morpheus looking guy has a Digimon that hangs aroudn his neck and looks a bit like one of those Evee evolutions from Pokemon, and the turtle Digimon is called Turtlemon apparently.
One thign that stands out is how big the rookie Digimon are compared to previous seasons.
Wow, Digimon making a comeback. I used to love watching that show, up to the Zero Two storyline, and watching Tamers and, um, the other one from time to time. I may give this one a try if it comes out.
And more Digimon-licenced stuff is coming our way, huh? Does anyone remember Patamon-shaped backpacks? If the new CCG comes this way, I sure hope it's alot easier to understand than that stupid Digi-Battle system. Yech.
I had a dream about Digimon the other night. Weird coincidence. It was about me changing my brother into a Digimon, or him changing me into one, and gave me a great idea for a Digimon fic...
Anyway, when is this projected to come to the states again? If at all, that is.

About three fourths of one year from now. 🙂
Yeah, thanks. ^^; Guess I could've paid more attention and read into this more.
I guess I'm kind of out of the cartoon-watching - not so much because I wouldn't enjoy this, but just lack of time. Maybe it'll be cool though.
I heard Quinton Flynn is doing Masaru-- I mean, "Marcus." Eh. I guess I can kinda see Masaru with Raiden's (MGS2) voice... So long as he doesn't round out the "o"s in the names of other characters like a lot of recent English voice actors do (i.e. "Narutou!" "Ichigou!")...
The first english dub appreared on Jetix about 2 weeks ago. Didn't catch it, nor do I know when it's on. For those of you who have, what did you think of it?
It comes on Mondays at 8:30 pm.
Look here for changes from the Japanese version for the dub.
I've only watched the first episode, and I must say, I'm not exactly happy with it.
The name changes are ridiculous. Every other gogglehead in the Digimon series had their names left alone for the most part, with the exception of Davis from Season 2. The editted music isn't too bad, and at least it isn't played all through the episode. The butchered English theme I cannot stand.
The voices and dialouge are sorta blah; I've heard better dubs. I just can't stand "Digisoul" being called "DNA Soul," though that's just the super Digimon nerd in me rambling on.
Overall, I don't really like it so far, and, like I've said, I've seen all the episodes already, so there's no need for me to watch the dub at all. =/
