And where the bloody hell is Batman? It was uber popular and a cult classic to this very day, there's absolutely no excuse for it not getting in.

77. Herg Adventures of Craig Bayf... Tin Tin!

Craig, if I may ask, what is this about hmmmmm...?

That,s and the fact that I HATE it when recent things get precedence over older stuff,...

Cookrina, you make sound impossible that some of the new stuff could be better than the old. I old stuff is what started it all but still...

As for the list itself, I don't really like it. I mean none of disney characters (not counting the movie characters) made it into the top 20!!! geez

That's not it. The problem is that people seem to ignore that newer stuff owes a lot to older stuff, and that people tend to ignore the impact that older stuff really has, instead having most of the list being comprised of stuff that is currently "in vogue". Which is a problem with "YOU DECIDE!" type things because people ignore whatever isn't the fad of the season.

I didn't think Tom and Jerry would be so high. I love the show, but it doesn't hold a candle to classic Bugs Bunny cartoon.

I LOVE Simpsons to death, but yes, it doesn't deserve the #1 spot. Maybe they placed it there mainly because it was very influential and the fact that it lasted 16 seasons is something great, if not dragged on. Maybe because it's so damn recognizable...

Watership Down was made into a cartoon? I read the book...

How about "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Even tho it's not ALL cartoon...

"Beauty and the Beast" is my all time Disney favorite...

Can't forget Armitage III, Bubblegum Crisis, and Gunbuster.

Seriously, where's Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers, Duck Tales, Tail Spin, and of course Darkwing Duck. Is Battle of the Planets the same thing as G-Force, if so then I loved that show. Plus, I think Ruroni Kenshin should be on there somewhere.

i actually thought that was a good mix(though sailor moon probably deserved a spot), glad to see akira still shining, also happy to see watership down and nightmare before christmas. Although i would of imagined "The Hobbit" would be on the list.

also, family guy was too high ranked and Gundam Wing should have been in there as far as TV shows...

The Simpsons is funny, and it deserved to be somewhere in the top 50, but it didn't deserve to win.

The very fact that Urotsukidouji even made this list proves that anime is eternally screwed in the UK.

And why isn't Sonic X in there? Oh, I know - because the amount of cuts they made from the Japanese version made it crap!

Oh, and because of Chris. There had to be a human good guy in the main characters somewhere, but did he have to be so hateable?

Anyway, back to the subject, I'm glad Akira was in there. It's so great, but it's best if you've read the Manga first. All 3000 pages of it.

No, Harley. The reason Sonic X didn't make the list is because it is crap. To Sonic fans and non-Sonic fans alike, plus the average age of anyone voting on this thing would be 25 at the very least, and only a minority of those people would give a care about some kiddy show on Jetix.

Well it's good sometimes. Some of the episodes are pretty funny and good. And the best episodes of all are generaly the ones where Chris isn't stealing minor character (read - Tails) roles.

It is aimed at a specialist audience though. Then again, most things are.

and Simpsons is not, it applies to everything and one, which is why it won. Because it can be watched comfortably by the young, old, politically correct and incorrect. It's got a perfectly diverse cast, adult humour, kiddie humour. Seriously, Simpsons has everything. Kids idolise Bart, adults relate to Homer or Marge. There are storylines based on practically every issue you can imagine, wether it be immigration, vegetarianism, politics, and all these issues are (or were) handled in a manner of mature satire which applies to all audiences.

The only problem I see with the show is that they are running out of ideas as of late, and also that they tend to aim for the lower end of the viewer audience, which is a shame.

Well, if you look at it that the lower ind is the more numerous end, you can see why.

I still think Futurama is both funnier and more mature at the same time.

And things do change in The Simpsons. Lisa became a vegetarian (quite early) Apu married and then had children, and Maude Flanders was knocked of a spectator's stand and died for some examples.

I don't recall saying that nothing changes in The Simpsons, I'm well aware that they have a loose fitting continuity which doesn't really exist, but does at the same time.

And I also prefer Futurama, but only because it can break reality to get jokes made better, and go completely surreal to drive a point forward. KidNapster being my favourite example, and any episode with Nixon in it, because Nixon rocks.

Nixon is weird.

If Futurama had come first, The Simpsons wouldn't have stood a chance. It had so much more potential. It's got a mad scientist, aliens and an entire universe to play with; it can, as you said, go crazy. Furthermore, because there's fewer characters, it's easier to both identify with them and develop their personalities.

Whereas the Simpsons is mostly confined to a town and has over 100 personalities, most of the secondary and tertiary characters nowhere near as deeloped as those of Futurama. Eg, Captain Zapp Brannigan.

But now it's been cancelled, simply because it isn't The Simpsons.

Futurama wouldn't have lasted a second if it weren't for The Simpsons. The Simpsons pathed the way for prime time animated sitcoms, a genre that had been non-existent in the West since The Flintstones. Futurama wouldn't have been able to do the same because it's nowhere near as relatable, it's sci-fi and has a darker tone to it. It got cancelled after just a few years even with the "from the creators of The Simpsons" hype behind it. A huge part of The Simpsons' popularity was because it was a humorous and exaggerated reflection of real life with a wide range of characters that ring true, it went places no American sitcom had before. Futurama did not have that.

Either way, I still prefer The Simpsons.

I feel insulted that Nightmare B4 Christmas was #13.
#5 is where it should've been.
And as a Shaman King fan, I think it should've gotten in there somewhere. But then again, I doubt much adults watch Jetix.
Those shows kinda get on my nerves, anyway. The only one I stayed up to watch was 100 Scariest Moments.

TBH, no 4Kids show should've even REMOTELY ranked on a "top 100 cartoons" list, so unless Shaman got another, BETTER dub...

Why is it that everybody I know, is obsessive over the film - "The Nightmare before Christmas" I though the movie was horrible but my family, friends, and some of my schoolmates say its one of the best films ever.

While I think its utter crap.

Then again a lot of Disney stuff I see is utter crap lately. The originals are where they are at.

- And the "Simpsons"? #1? I mean they should of been in the top 20 but in the #1 slot is jsut ridicioulous.

- Then there is the utter crap of "South Park" being better then Bugs Bunny? My god. I mean its Bugs Bunny. Hes a frick'n legend. He should of been in the top 3 - South Park shouldn't of been on that list at ALL. I find South Park irritating, unfunny, and just plain stupid. Its one of the crappiest things out there that my friends like. >_> I mean god...If you have a adult cartoon on that list, I'd rather watch "Duckman" rather than South Park any day.

- Is The "Critic" up there?

Thats all my views at the momment.

And oh yes, "Sonic X" is crap.

I've watched South Park before and I thought it was funny (I've only seen about 3 episodes though). I guess it's just me. HOWEVER, I feel offended that Spongebob Squarepants even made the list. IMO, it's the biggest load of crap I have ever seen. If I could (Legally that is), I would beat the living **** out of anyone that was in possesion of Spongebob merchandise. I wish I could take a nice long crap on the said merchandise. I will laugh my ass off the day that it gets cancelled (If it ever does). That ends my little rant. This is of course, IMO, so please don't be offended by my hatred for a specific cartoon.
