Great Primus, now there's two of them. Someone must hate us.
Isn't there supposed to be some way to tell if someone has a universal account or a local account?
I registered the global account 'Rishi' years ago back when this system was still ezboard, because Rishi is my first name and I thought it might be useful someday. I've never posted with it until now. My main account is 'Tulkas Astaldo'. You can easily tell that this board's Rishi is a local account by looking at his profile, where it shows him as Rishi.sonichqcommunity.
To respond to the poster above, I understand how Matt could have gotten confused. That's why I asked him to look into the situation and verify that he was talking to the right person. He still doubts me, so now I'm pissed off. I don't like receiving heated PMs from some random jerk, so let's see how Matt feels with the shoe on the other foot.
Actually, I sent you a heated PM expecting it to be sent to someone else. Then, you said you weren't the same person, (remember, at the time it seemed like you were) I said "Really? Then what do you have to say about this?" and you read it as calling "you" a liar; how was I supposed to know that a certain local account just so happened to share a username with a global account? Also, just then I sent a PM response:
"Sorry then, I must have jumped the gun, but before you get all holier-than-thou, try to understand that I didn't realize different people could have the same username, and I'm so used to the other Rishi bulls***ing."
Also, mods, could you check the IP addresses to make sure they aren't alt accounts?
EDIT: And Rico, that particular time I got the impression based on you and Vec being staff that Vec would have sent the chat PMs to you and you were beginning to tell the rest of the chat about a PM conversation. (For no apparent reason) And it's not just about "disagreeing"; I meant to be insulting towards the local Rishi because the local Rishi was being insulting towards me. Obviously since I misinterpreted the PM system, it was mistargeted, but aside from the explanation, my point remains.
Matt, do you seriously think I posted without looking at that? Geez, you irritate me. And quit trying to rationalize cussing out an admin.

I was just pointing out why I did it; I thought you deserved it when I was under the wrong impression. Also, what do you mean "without looking at that"? Looking at what?
I figure He meant The IP address {as you suggested} - it'd be important for them to establish what's what pretty quickly, and I get the feeling nothing off kilter was found. Otherwise, yeah, we'd have known about it by now!
So, to sum up, we've had an argument turn into a rant-frenzy, which turned into a meltdown, which turned into mistaken identity, which turned into accusations of trickery, which turned into the same person melting down AGAIN.
I want to take this thread, put it on a plaque, present it to the world with a big flourish and exclaim "Ladies and gentlemen, I bring to you... THE INTERNET IN A NUTSHELL!"
But why?
I think you'd find that Youtube Comments are a much better example of Idiocy in motion!
Youtube comments are concentrated idiocy. This thread is a summation of social interaction on the internet.

Ding ding ding
Youtube comments make me hate the world. Also, people don't have mind-exploding meltdowns on the Youtube comments.
Look at how far this topic's gone since it left it`s home-state, "On-topic"!
*sniffle* I'm so +!$$%$$ proud right now.
Clearly we have found a Superior version of rishi! We must upgrade to this rishi.u and purge the system of the .shq one 😛
I am the superior Rishi! But this other Rishi dude is pretty cool, I got nothin' against him.
This topic has derailed enough people. Either get back on track or it's going into lockdown. MOVE IT!
Also, please direct complaints to EVC.
Now, getting back to the topic, I hope this whole thing resolves itself. I really can't think of much else to say otherwise. <<;
Although its nice to see that the boy wants to be a father (sans the financial part), I personally think that the parents of the kids either need to get thoroughly involved in the rearing of the kids (newborn included), or consider adoption for the baby. Like seriously consider adoption.
Call me a cynic if you must, but I think that the last thing the kid needs is the influence of the same grandparents who couldn't educate their precious little snowflakes not to get knocked up in the first place.
I watch all of the coverage about how many boys this silly little girl has been allowed to have overnight in her room. I watch the parents whining about how you can't watch over teenagers ever minute of the day. And I still remain convinced that if they'd done their jobs properly and taught the kids how to behave in a responsible manner, they wouldn't have to worry about what they were doing behind their back in the first place.
The stupidity of this particular couple terrifies me - and not just in the having sex in the first place or the lack of any kind of contraception. There's an audio interview with the little guy on one tabloid's web site where the reporter asks him how he's going to financially provide for the baby, and do you know what the reply is?
"What's 'financial'?"
At thirteen, his vocabulary and understanding're this limited.
Then - after a second or so's stunned silence from the reporter and an explanation - he went on to talk about how he doesn't get any pocket money, but his dad sometimes gives him ten pounds.
And this is someone who thought it would be "cool" to have a baby.
These kids're pig ignorant, plain and simple. I partially think that it's a story that's being stoked by the mass media because Alfie Patten is so baby-faced, to be blunt not the brightest bulb in the box, and both families can easily be portrayed as underclass, chavvy train wrecks to make the middle class look smugly down their noses about not being such an Other - we've got the highest teenage pregnancy rate in Europe, so a story like this isn't as unusual as you'd think.
I've been waiting for someone to start beating the drum about how sex education here doesn't teach enough abstinence, but I don't believe in abstinence-only education rather than giving people the facts and I don't think that it would've made a blind bit of difference in the case of two stupid children where at least one of them probably doesn't have the wit or command of English to understand what they're being told.
But I think that their poor kid'll be in the same position in fifteen years if we don't figure out some way of stopping teenagers seeing sex as just something else to do if there's nothing on TV. It's the attitude that needs to change - not the education or the thing itself.

Very astute observations, Sam. I completely agree with you.
In case anyone was interested, DNA tests were had all round, and guess what? She is just a dirty sleep around. Surprised anyone? No? Didn't think so.
Alright...so I missed this when it was first posted somehow. And uhhh...Gyser's fresh link...like...*throws up his breakfast, dinner and lunch[from yesterday]*
Just a few selected quotes from the mirror's article:
Alfie Patten, now 13, had a £300 DNA test after half a dozen boys claimed to have slept with schoolgirl pal Chantelle Stedman, 15.
... @ half a dozen boys.
Chantelle became pregnant aged 14 after she "forgot to take" her contraceptive pill last May.
Pill, condom etc she is very forgetful...
Chantelle told her half-sister Jodie O'Neill, 17, the father could have been one of a number of boys she slept with at her parents' home in Eastbourne, East Sussex.
I'm sorry, but the police should really be looking into the conduct of the parents... Having their 14 year old daughter sleep with a number of boys of various ages (from 12 to possibly 16) is neglectant.
Dad-of-ten Dennis regularly spoke on his son's behalf. After Maisie's birth he said: "He hasn't a clue what a baby means and can't explain how he feels. When I spoke to him he started crying.
"Dad of ten" ...
"He said it was the first time he'd had sex, he didn't know what he was doing or the complications that could come. I'll talk to him again and it'll be the birds and bees talk."
A bit late for that now mister dad of ten...
So if he took the £300 test, does this mean he's the daddy or not?
I wanna picture babyface Alfie doing the NOT the father dance.

Is the splendid gif below what you're referring to?
That it is, good sir. That it is.
Oh, yes, I do, too, Toby!

This.
Also, [insert rant about irresponsibility here].
Someone correct me if I'm off base, but does the UK have an age limit for this kind of thing? If it happened in the US, someone would probably be getting charged with statutory rape.
HAHAHA! @ Toby and Rishi's "I'm not the Father" dances. As for UK's laws...I have no idea. In America though...i'm not sure what we'd call this. All the kids are minors...so...

The lower limit is 16. As they are both under 16, however, it's up to a judge's discrection as neither are old enough to have responsibility for their actions in the eyes of the law.
Makes you think though, as 15 is just one year under 16 and that year legally makes all the difference between innocence and rape o.o
[edit] unless the real father is 16 or over, forgot about the results #o.o#
I thought that you guys had more lenient laws than we do. I have no idea what this would classify as.
In America though...i'm not sure what we'd call this. All the kids are minors...so...
I've seen at least one US case of that where both parties've been charged with child abuse in the last year or so - forget which state, but I could probably look it iup...
Really? Both parties were charged with child abuse? By parties do you mean the parents of those involved or just the kids? I would assume parents because it would seem silly to charge two consenting minors, but I'm not an expert on the legal system, so *Shrug*
They charged the kids, since they were the ones doing things to each other.
It might've been Florida - I'll try and look it up...
...
Charging someone with child abuse against THEMSELVES?!
Forgive me Sam, for saying this. But that sounds like complete idiocy. Then again, it IS Florida...
Not against themselves - against each other.
I was holding off on the obvious Florida remarks...
the article link is broken, but i'm guessing the kid isn't the father after all?
sex education in schools probably needs some work on, to be honest. all i remember of ours were 'this is a banana, this is a condom. this is a condom on a banana' then a discussion of STDs while the boys inflated them like balloons and hit people with 'em.. and we didn't get this until we were around his age. >>;
I went to a girls' school where we didn't even get the banana / condom demonstration. We got the biology lessons, but that was about it.
Mind you, how difficult can it be to remember that if you don't want to be lumbered with offspring, there are things you need to bear in mind? I suspect the problem is more that they think having babies is an interesting way to pass the time.
Maybe what they need is in depth conversations with those who went through natural childbirth? Or some sort of baby borrowing service, where they're stuck with them all weekend and have to cope?
DW
We need that system the US does a lot when you have a fake baby and you have to look after it for a week. I think they did it a little bit here but not nearly widespread enough.
I heard you have ones where it records how long it cries etc so at the end you can grade them. Or use a bag of flour and get the parents to record how they do with it, although that one won't help where the parents are negligent as is. I expect the ones most likely to think a baby is a good idea would be most likely to get bored after a bit and shove it in the bottom of the laundry basket.
Or you can just get them to do work experiance in a supermarket. That's pretty much did the job for me!
Not against themselves - against each other.
Although not exactly related there was a very recent case where authorities were planning to charge a teenager with possessing and distributing child pornography.
The pictures were of the teenager who took pictures of herself and posted them up on MySpace.

Yea I heard of this too. 😛 But yea Hukos and Sam...Florida...crazy state that one is. LOL
*hides from any Florida residents here on the board*
oh, i heard of kids like that.. there seems to be some craze for 'sexting' where the kid takes a photo of themselves naked or in their underwear on their mobile phone and text it to other people.
just.. no. ><;
as for flour babies, i read a book that had that as it's theme, it was pretty good. ^^ the fake baby thing could have it's benifits on the type of kids who really won't get what it's like to look after a real child. i sure did, as i was babysitting since the age of 13. sure, i'd love to have children.. but i also know the full realities of what it's like to care for one.
