This so-called General Forum hasn't had a general anime discussion in some time now.
So what's everybody been watching lately? Be it fansub, retail or whatever you accidentally catch while flipping channels?
To be honest, after Fullmetal Alchemist ran its course on [Adult Swim] I haven't been all that interested in all that much of the stuff that's on TV these days. Naruto and Bleach seem okay if you like DBZ-esque affairs with the story arcs that go on forever (are they still in Soul Society?).
Fansubs I don't really get into. Last one I saw that had some promise was last year's The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya which was... different, but fun. Might check out the dub, seeing as how Crispin's in it. I hear a 2nd season's in the works.
Some weeks ago I caught the first episode of a new Gainax mecha show called Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and had my curiosity peak. Imagine a wackier Evangelion where the moody, young unsure-of-his-potential mecha pilot actually gets some encouragement, snaps out of his emo state and busts some @#%$ heads*. That's Gurren Lagann. Blazing action and insane-looking animation ala FLCL and Dead Leaves? DO WANT. I've been watching it every week since. Even though the show's been licensed already (by ADV) I think I'll continue to see the fansubs as they're distributed. Then, when the dub (inevitably) comes to [Adult Swim], I'll watch it there too.
* Literally, the mecha on this show are basically giant heads.
Only Anime I've really watched as of late is Death Note. The Live Action movies were pretty good as well.

I watched a fansub of the first episode of Devil May Cry... that count?
Eh, haven't been watching much anime lately.
But from what I have, I've seen Devil May Cry, and have been watching the dubbed version of Bleach on Australia Adult Swim, Eureka Seven, and Trinity Blood.
I pretty much only watch Naruto and One Piece as of late. When it was on Toonami, I was getting into MR, and I may try to watch it on Toonami Jetstream if my net connection is fast enough to download it. Right now there is no Anime on Adult Swim I'm currently interested in; though it appears that FMA is back on AS so I probably be watching some of my favorite eps while it's on again.
Haruhi-Sama demands people watch Melancholny of Haruhi Suzumiya. I did and it changed my life *hands you a Haruhi-ism bible*
Right now I'm between shows. Waiting on Hellsing OVA #4 or the dub of #2, Suzu series 2 and that Gundam SEED movie they keep talking about.
I'm sure something'll hit me eventually.
PSX is right, Gurren-Lagaan is frickin' ACE.
The one I hope breaks out big in America is my favorite anime from last year 'Black Lagoon' (referenced in my sig). It's action-packed, doesn't talk down to the audience and it even has a good dub. It's not very deep, but the characters are interesting and the action is well-done. Nothing life-altering here, just a fun adrenalin rush.
I third Gurren Lagen, best mecha anime series I've watched since Eureka Seven. This show will keep my giant robot fetish going until the new Gundam 00 series starts in october (the bitter taste of Destiny is long gone! *spits*).
Watched the Tales of Symphonia OVA the other day, but since I already know how the story goes down I can't say I enjoyed it that much, but the animation was nice. Perhaps a sequel OVA to Symphonia would've been better?
Also checked out Devil May Cry and Claymore recently. Can't say I'm too impressed with either, although I'll keep watching Claymore for awhile longer.
I'll probably check out the Death Note anime soon, even though I've read all of the manga series. Gotta love those menacing looks Light makes when he's thinking.
Naruto: Shippuden subs. o.o
Many would call me one of those "crazy animeists" yet there are some of the cult classic ones I have not seen yet. I am kicking myself for not watching Azumanga Daioh short of youtube clips or ytmnd memes.
After I first saw that MAR show on CN I went and watched subs of it up to a point where one of the parts of an episode were missing and I just didn't continue after that (just like when I was watching Catgirl Nuku Nuku) Speaking about cult classics and favorites, even when I got to like final 3 episodes of Fruits Basket I suddenly stopped for no reason and didn't finish it. Need to get around to do that. I even halted on watching PPGZ (don't ask why I am) due to subs and raw backorder trouble.
Like Azumanga Daioh, I have somehow stopped myself from watching the more popular animes that people talk about like crazy. Like that The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Maybe it was the opening dance for that show that hooks them first and then the story afterwards. Likewise the anime in Psx's avatar seems to be crazy popular as well, maybe the initial hook is its opening. Speaking of which:
I don't consider myself an anime fan and irrationally hate most of it simply because it is anime, but I dunno, over the last couple days I watched Hellsing and I have to say it was totally friggin' awesome. Totally.
I also enjoyed Cowboy Bebop and Trigun, although I haven't watched either of those in over a year.
Elfen Lied. Naked girls ripping innocent people to shreds with their minds!
Basically what Wonder said minus the hating part. The last anime I can remember watching is Samurai Deeper Kyo. But i've watched HellSing before and it is indeed sweet, as is TriGun, Bebop and OutLaw Star. I didn't know Bleach came on in the states. I've always seen games for it on Sega of Japan's site. But my favorite anime ever...definetly 3 x 3 Eyes.
I watched Naruto and YuYu Hakusho for a time until I got tired of both...plus they come on so late it's kind of a bummer. My friend tried to get me interested in Princess Tutu...ewww no.
Azumanga Daioh is pretty fun. Elfen Lied, on the other hand....just a tad bit creepy, Not my taste. ^^;;
I've been watching subbed Bleach recently, though I haven't watched any eps in several weeks. Despite my best efforts I can't pry my eyes FMA and Inuyasha reruns on AS. I'd watched PPGZ up until episode 33, but I stopped.
Watched the first few eps of Naruto Shippuden subbed, and I'm still trying to find subbed eps of Pokemon D/P... I refuse to watch 4Kids' crap any longer.
Aside from that, there's One Piece and a few others I can't name, but my sis is trying to get me to watch Claymore. I'm not a big anime fanatic, but I do watch some things here and there.
Ooh. I wonder if this post is long. o.o;
I'm not a big fan of anime, but I enjoy Macross and Evangelion a lot.
Ahh yea Yu Yu used to be my show.
YuYu Hakusho is the only anime I've been watching.
Manga wise, that's a completely different story.
Would manga go here also?
Currently rewatching One Piece subs and the odd bit of Lucky Star. Very random, but a well made show at that.
I bought the first volume of Haruhi last month without ever having seen it (I rarely make impulse buys) and fell in love with the show. Volume two was even better.
I watch Naruto, but it's dragging a bit too much for me lately. Bleach is okay. Maybe I'm just outgrowing shonen shows.

So what's everybody been watching lately?
As always, I only watch what ends up on my TV screen. So, right now the only anime I watch is Naruto. If it's on Adult Swim, I'm not staying up to watch it. If I'm awake at that time, I'm doing something online or catching up on my sports.
I actually just started getting the DVDs of Haruhi on Netflix. Interesting show, and like someone else said, it's the first anime that has halfway interested me since the Full Metal Alchemist movie. Still, I feel like the show is too pretentious for it's own good sometimes. Far too many scenes of people giving long tedious explanations while Kyon stares at them slack-jawed and catching flies.
since we now only have one TV channel that plays cartoons in the afternon, there's no anime on tv any more for me. (unless i get up at 6am to watch astroboy)
i lack a proper computer for watching anime online, or cash to buy over-priced DVDs, so i've been reading manga online instead. ^^ currently reading through inuyasha, tsubasa, FMA and a few others.
i watched a little of fansubbed bleach awhile back, but i've been watching the toonami naruto. it's allright, as far as mangas are concerned... hmm, naruto, bleach, claymore, highschool of the dead, tsubasa, and tenjou tenge. yeah.... it's summer vacation and i've got little life besides marching band and work.
@ Psx: Soul Society Arc ended in episode 63, we're in ep like 132 now.
Watching:
Bleach
Gurren Lagann
One Piece
D. Gray-Man
DBZ Remastered Season 1(worth the buy if you're thinking about it. Original music, unedited and even has subtitle options! And get this. BEER. NOT BLUE FROTHY WATER. BEER.)
Busou Renkin: It's over now, but it was still an awesome series. Even tied up its loose ends at the end o.O
And for those that don't poke around the lesser-known areas:
Hayate no Gotoku(Hayate the Combat Butler): The tale of a boy whose parents give a multimillion-yen debt for Christmas and becomes the butler of the girl who saved his life from yakuza come to collect. It is INSANE. So far, there's notable references to One Piece, Inu Yasha, Gundam, Final Fantasy XI, Pokemon, though they bleep out the names like they were cusswords. They even reference Gurren Lagann! The anime's a bit insane, a la a toned-down Cromartie High School insane.
Great Detectives Poirot and Marple: anime renditions of the old Hercule Poirot mysteries by Agatha Christie. Fairly good, although they added in a character that wasn't in any of the books.
Sexy Commando Gaiden: despite the name, the show isn't H, though I wouldn't reccommend showing it in public; they may put you away in the loony bin. It's an old, insane show based around a man who has perfected the "sexy commando" martial arts style.

4Kids lost hold to the Pokemon franchise long ago, once Battle Frontier started. Its basically what 4Kids did but with bad imitations of the voices we grew up with.
So does anyone know which anime it is that has Freddie Mercury in it?
I know it exists, damn it.
I should harm you.
