If anyone here uses both of these browsers, I've got a question.

I've been using Firefox for a while now but after updating it with the most recent update, it wouldn't connect to the internet anymore.  Something about the proxy server it was using was refusing connections.  I ended up having to uninstall it so I could use IE.

How would I need to set it up so that I could switch between the two browsers?  I had a video downloader that I used with Firefox, and I'd like to keep using it if I can.

On another note, does anyone know of a IE equivalent to the Video Download Helper add-on that Firefox has?

I'm not a tech guru nor tech savvy, but I did Google "firefox not working" and came up with some info.

I'll post more if there is anything that's a little more concrete, but I hope that the links help a little.

EDIT: The Tech Guys may have a solution?

It helped, yes. Good to know I'm not the only one who had the problem.

I did find out that the video downloader I was using has an IE equivalent, so if it works with the sites I want it to, I may not bother reinstalling Firefox.

Thanks for the links, Gamma.

That there which I've bolded is most likely your problem.  Going by that, it sounds like you are/were using Firefox to surf the net through a proxy server. If that's the case, then it isn't that Firefox is broken - it's that the proxy you were using is. Configure Firefox to connect to the internet directly through your internet connection instead, and that should hopefully sort it out.

Oh also, for Switching between Firefox and IE, I recommend the awesome Coral IETab. It basically opens an IE tab within Firefox, which is pretty handy =D

Thanks. Like I said, if this add-on I found works, I'm not going to bother reinstalling Firefox.

No prob. It's just odd that I haven't had the problems listed on tech boards about the latest firefox upgrade, though my middle click button on my mouse no longer works, but that's the mouse being a naughty tart!

Do you reckon it would work on my machine, which freezes every time I try to open IE8?  I use Firefox, but there's still a few websites out there which don't play nicely with it at all.  I don't know what it is about IE8, btw.  I presume it just eats memory, which my old laptop really has precious little of.
