Any thoughts on this? I think it took me a few hours for the news to sink in and remember just who this is...will be interesting to see how Pakistan deals with this...of course most signs point to chaos but...we shall see.
bit worried about two of my flatmates, even tho' i barely know them, as i know they went home to pakistan for christmas. oo;
otherwise.. she knew her life was in great danger, and knew the risk she was running. i don't know much about politics, especially those of other countries.. but i certainly hope it doesn't end in serious chaos.
She spoke at my university in 2004 and I really hated the majority of her sentiments at the time.
That being said, I still she was Pakistan's best shot at continuing democracy, although she was no stranger to corruption herself.
I'm surprised that the political situation in Pakistan hasn't devolved more than it has done since. She was such an iconic personality and being positioned as the most viable alternative to Musharraf that it wouldn't have surprised me if the pro-democracy factions'd turned violent, thinking that they hadn't got anything left to lose.
how sad, she's smart
