i dont know if a lot of you watch asian dramas but i do and since i was little they used to be fun and intersting. right now i'm watching this show that i cant finish...
its the main character, the girl is driving me nuts >___< she sticks her lips out when she talks and makes weird expressions trying to be cute... she's a pretty girl she doesnt need to do that its making her look horrible. i mean i cant stand seeing her, unfortunately all the shows from asia are like this now X___X there's this "fake cute girl" that has to show up... she doesnt frown she doesnt yell at her cheating boyfriend she walks like an idiot with her thighs stuck together and her feet apart ... oh and moans and uses little words when talking like a baby.
people dont act like that -___- i really love asian culture and have been admiring their shows for a long time, but this new "fake cute girl" idea is invading the shows and making them silly.
i also hate those type of characters in anime but at least anime is a cartoon, i get scared watching a girl on tv with a face of plastic... western female actresses show you everything, they dont hide thier wrinckles when they get angry, they'd yell like any other human being no matter how scary that makes them look on camera. that's real acting being real.
asian actresses dont scream dont cry (no girl cries like a baby, where's the throwing stuff and scream crying) .... and they wear make up in every scene.
i know i'm really upset when saying this, but its caues i enjoy asian shows. their culture reflects some similiarties to mine. i really wish they'd stop using that personalitiy in their shows, and to be honest i dont think its healthy for teens to watch that, it teaches girls to be weak and disconnected from reality which will be harmful.
i'm gonna go and cry about that show i'm not gonna finish
Sooooo....what's the problem?
If you aren't liking it anymore, why not just stop watching it? I did that with Inuyasha and Bleach.
but its not just in one show that annoying character is in all of them -___- and japanese and korean drama are fun for me. oh and you know i always wanted to see those two shows but was worried about that so i'm surprised you mentioned them. i guess i really wont watch them.
btw its weird japanese and korean horror films dont have those silly girls in them... they're more natural acting then their soap operas.
I've never really found Japanese live-action TV to be anything more than bad, personally. Super low budgets filled with MELODRAMA!!!!, utter lack of subtlety and generally pedestrian acting and face-mugging. Hearing that they've started mining 'moe' is just reaffirming my position.
I do enjoy some Japanese and Korean films, though, although they aren't terribly big on subtlety either. At least those have the budgets to pull off some entertaining amounts of crazy.
Personally, I question the creative tastes of any country that decides to make a show using only mannequins.
That's some scary stuff right there.

are you refering to the horror movies? cause oddly enough they master that very well, its just everything else that fails now -___- japan and korea are going international with a bit more effort they can make it big, i dont know why they're not studying viewers responses to their shows. and since there's a million better shows out there from other parts of the world like spain and italy asia gotta make their shows up to the viewing standards. i mean none of us can handle seeing movies from the 50s they suck to us now, same with asian shows today.
I'm referring to their action, drama and horror movies, yes ('Versus', 'Old Boy', Takeshi Miike's output, etc).
Maybe I'm spoiled. Maybe years of cable TV drama have spoiled me. Maybe watching 'The Sopranos', 'The Shield' and 'Breaking Bad' have ruined me for the dramatic TV output of other countries. Maybe I'm just a sucker for acting with faces, something the Japanese seem completely unable to do in their TV programming.
Although I will take exception to the concept that movies from the 50s suck now. A truly great movie is great forever, no matter when it released.
i totally agree with you, im also bothered by some stuff in the shows themselves like how everyone is polite and everything is clean..... no one is perfect, and its not wrong to be that way. and they have way too many good looking cast members. also i dont like the common thought, all i see is one ideal.. there should be other points of views.

Yeah, Mada. All movies from the fifties're unbearable, aren't they?
Not sure if this is an appropriate topic but I couldn't be arsed to make a new topic and this seemed like the most relevant one...
Anyone watched Gaki no Tsukai? It's a japanese comedy show featuring a handful of japanese comedians doing... well, wild and wacky stuff. They've done a variety of stuff including batsu; or punishment games, where they get hilariously punished for messing up, stuff like Silent Library ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxOE8h8NOIc) where they have to try and keep as quiet as they can and loads of other types of hilarious stuff.
Well worth watching.
One the subject of japanese television drama, it's terrible. They've done a fair few good films, my favourite of which has to be the 20th Century Boys trilogy. Those films just oozed epicness and every single actor looked the spitting image of their manga counterpart. Great stuff. Also have to agree with Castor on Old Boy; that's a terrific, TERRIFIC film as is the rest of the Vengance trilogy.

i like watching it too XD i love the classroom one the most when someone is trying to count in english and says instead of 20 "ten ten" and almost half of them laugh and get spanked.
i also love japanese candid camera like the bathroom gag or this crowad gag
and okay samanfur i admit they had outstanding great ideas, unbearable might be an exaggeration... but just watching the quality and acting doesnt do it for me, i have to mentally perpare myself to watch 50s movies going "remember to ignore mistakes and like the story".. i'm greatful for remakes. though to be honest i do watch the old black and white twilight zone episodes and enjoy the old star trek.
