I'm actually interested in this movie purely because the soundtrack is Alan Menken, even though the trailer is awful. Disney ads always show the most contrived, banal, or unoriginal parts of their movies, and there are a lot of movies that are overall enjoyable only because of a kickass soundtrack.
I'll admit, I like how they keep getting interrupted every time they start singing. That was actually kind of hilarious, because it sends up just about every Disney movie ever made.
It's a musical. Idina Menzel is in it. I've been waiting for this ever since I first heard of it.
I got a couple good laughs out of the trailer, at least, but I haven't felt compelled to seek out a Disney film in forever o.o; Also interesting to see the Mouse pretty much poking fun at the formula that made them ridiculously rich.
A thought as I'm writing: this almost seems like a declaration of, "hey, all of these storybook fairytale stories we've done don't really have a place in the real world anymore, let's try something different now." Anyone else getting that vibe?
Well, the concept has been done before - The 10th Kingdom certainly springs to mind, even if that spent more time running around fairytale kingdoms - but could be done well. Not sure if I'd go out of my way to see it, but seems like something I could reasonably happily watch.
Okay, the live action thing threw me off and that's what is making me so reluctant, but I admit to having laughed at parts of the trailer, namely the interrupted singing and the prince asking the "magic mirror".
That too - the prince is insane.
That's all in the standard Prince Charming job description. You'd have to be to go for all the cursed/coma girls.
This prince is especially so.
I mean, he picked a fight with a bus. That's hardcore.
I missed the magic mirror line when I saw it at night because I had the volume down.
Oh, and Disney is doing 2D animation again, and not just as the intro of this movie.
Man, I really hope I get the chance to drag Tricia to this at Christmas.
It's Menken and Schwartz together for the first time since Natr Dame... if I work the composition angle, I might be able to swing it
and again... Idina Menzeeeeeel... <3
Deary me, a new Disney movie that's actually almost apealling to me? Hold me, I think I may faint.
*Holds you*
