Hello my friends at the mofo. Well As you may or may not know im a big fan of the stitch franchise, recently Disney finally got around to Dubbing the anime adapttion in english. I was lucky enough to see the 1st episode, (thanks to some links from my online friends.)

And here's my impression of the English dub of an anime based of a US franchise (quarky ain't it.)

Well the bad news is Disney was cheap and got a new voice cast (this is understandable for the new characters, but just seems lazy for the rest) allthough there isn't that much noticable change in the voices of Stitch, Jumba or pleakly, Gantu, 625 and hamstervill sound noticably diffrent. The voices for the new cast of islanders is pretty good, a few fit better then the origional TV series.

Now for the show its self, thankfully Disney kept the new charcters japanese names, however japanese text was edited out for the most part, & sadly there are a few edits in the show for time, but nothing big. Also disney made a lazy 30 second intro for the US ver instead of translating the origional op.

the biggest complaint most have is why stitch is causing trouble again at the beggining, in the japanese version this is unexplaned, but in the US DUB Jumba explains stitch is acting up because he feels betrayed by Lilo since she now has a boyfriend (Im guessing the kid from the origional TV show, also I guess Lilo is a teen know since we don't know how long this takes place after the end of L&S the series.)

But yea, overall the dub is average, nothing to good or to bad, if your a hardcore fan of the franchise you'll like it, otherwise its really nothing to rave about.

I give the english Dub of stitch a 80% its good for what it is, but loses some of its origionallity with the editing out of japanese text & the few pointless time cuts are some what annoying, but overall a decent family friendly anime experience.

Stitch also premiers on Disney channel Asia on Dec. 19th and in the U.S. in Late Q1 of 2010.

EDIT: here's a link to the English Dub intro (again kind of lazy, but basically does a good job of showing what the show's about.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI8dtsJT6Hs

The english dub does yes, from what I can tell the guy that worked on the origional series wanted it to conenct, so now it does. again overall this is irrelivent since lilo has yet to appear in the series, so...yea. (My guess on this is that we will eventually have a Crossover DTV of somesort.)

But The dub is Average. nowhere near the quality of disney's dubs of the myazaki movie, but deffinantly alot better then alot of other Telivised cartoons & anime disney has had on there networks the past few years.

I was in Australia and missed this??? So Lilo won't even be in this series? That makes me sad. Did Nani and Dave get married and is the girl on that opening sequence their daughter? Ok, this is overloading my brain...

This is an anime series where the setting is some island off the coast of Japan. Not Hawaii so Lilo, Nani, and David aren't in this.

Yea, all we know is that supposedly this takes place after the end of the 1st series, but we don't know how much time has passed, Im guessing Lilo is a teen since Jumba mentions she has a BF, the aliens & cousins return in this series, but none of the previous humans do , Lilo is replaced with Yuna, and Nani with Yuna's grandma.

The series is OK, not as good as the origional stuff, but again alot better then alot of other kiddy animes out there.

The series is on its second season in Japan, and its unknown if there will be a third, but again since disney added that line about lilo I would'nt be suprised to see a crossover DTV between the New & old cast eventually, but yea, again this hits US shores next year.

Also it seems to me the series has a new message

Origional Message: "Ohana:" Family: No one gets left behing or forgotten
New series Message: Things change, Life gets rough, But is OK your no one is alone (I say this because stitch obviously felt betrayed by Lilo replacing him with a boyfriend so he decides to cause havoc, etc, ends up crashing on a japanses Island, meets Yuna, a girl who like lilo is spunky yet lonely. realizes He's not realy alone.)

No surfing in Hawai'i??? I'm not sure I like that. I wanted to see what happened with the original family... I is sad now

Oh my... in the video anyone noticed the red head half naked jungle boy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI8dtsJT6Hs
he's Gimbsy from the popular anime "future boy conan", here's a picture of Gimpsy
and here's a close up of his face

i can't forget conan it was such a big buzz even sonic stole some ideas from it.

did they hate lilo? why? she was cute, chubby and very young.. i'm guessing 5 years old. i thought she was special and intersting.

<New series Message: Things change, Life gets rough, But is OK your no one is alone >

sounds like tv messaging for kids to deal with the world econemy problems...... "no toys for christmas! deal with it, your not alone!"

@Sonicfan. No they did not hate Lilo, Madhouse, the company that made the stitch anime, wanted to make a new series set in a japnese Island chain, therefore had to make new characters...Lilo & stitch is alot more popular in Japan then it is in the US, I mean they even have the US Cartoon Series on DVD (also why do you think they keep putting more stitch characters in KH games, I mean BBS has a whole stitch world and uses the cousins in the mini-game.)

This is mearly stitch in a japanese Island setting instead of a Hawian Island setting, Plus again lilo is a Teen now, & Im afraid if they ever did have her guest star it would'nt bode well, I mean we all know how modern anime oversexualizes teen charcters (even the all age anime do) & Im sure disney might not like seeing there innocent little lilo as a teen with D-cups. But I digrese, again its just one of those shows you'll either like of hate, just wait & watch it when it comes to the US next year or do what I did & Get the 1st episode from Megaupload. (THen delete it, cause remeber keeping files like that for more then a certain amount of time is illegal.)

Er, okay... just to clear things up here: originally the show had little to no connection to the American TV series run, it simply reused the aliens and introduced a new island and a new set of human friends and somewhat implied that all this was occurring sometime after Stitch's time with Lilo... but the US dub has a line inserted that specifically mentions that Lilo abandoned Stitch for her boyfriend and this resulted in Stitch going on a rampage until he ended up in notOkinawa?

Doesn't exactly show Lilo in all that great a light, does it? So much for Ohana. And you're suggesting that Chris Sanders okayed this, despite the fact that he left Disney a few years back?

ha ha lilo with D-cups, i can picture that ... freaky.
as for going series hunting for the anime lilo and stitch, i don't know, i thought the regular cartoon was funny enough.... although this looks a lot better than when japan made an anime powerpuff girls.

ohana is just a fairy tale grown ups tell kids!

@PSX, Yeah Chris lefyt, but someone who worked on stitch OK'd the anime & to connect it to the oriigonal, the idiot (because of the connection not because ofthe anime)

@Sonicfan, Neah, remeber this is still technically a spin-off even if disney does try to fit it into cannon, Ohana is still important, just in the new show stitch has a new family...so yeah, this is one of those shows you don't have to watch, but if your a stitch fan like me, you probably will. & again in japan this is an alternate continuity type thing, theanime has little to do with the US series aside from the stitches cousins.

Coincidently, Nani's greatest... for lack of a better term, asset... wasn't the size of her bust. So speaking in terms of hereditary genes (and perhaps jeans)... um, you know what? Forget it.

While we're on the topic of L&S, Disney really dropped the ball with the other experiments. With as many of them as there were (626+) and all their unique powers, if they had put enough thought into, it could've easily evolved into the Disney equivalent of Pokemon.

yeah, but L&S sadly came around the time disney was becoming obssessed with its stupid tweencoms...I mean we only got to see about 100 of the 625+ expirements.)

But as a little easter-egg They did list all the experiments names during the Credits of Leroy & stitch.

BOT: Again, the anime has a few flaws, but overall is an enjoyable show & since its a spin-off its not super important to the franchise.

and hey Theres always a chance they'll be some new Lilo & Stitch DTV's in the Future.

Until then all we can do is get by with the english dub of the anime, and prey disney will be nice & release the 1st series on DVD here in the US eventually.

Lol so much for "Ohana" Kinda makes the message seem hollow that Stitch would leave just because Lilo decided to...well...grow up. I don't think her getting a boyfriend is bad. Its just that Stitch has the mentality of a toddler.

But then again this is Stitch and he's perfectly capable of being random.

yea, he is pretty childish at times. Anywho Im sure the Dub will improve over time, I mean there have been alot of animes that have had silly edits and started off sub-par or average, but by the time all is said & done end up being awsome...so yea only time will tell.

P.S. I also think Getting DVD releases of this are more likely then when the origional was on since disney is getting better at the whole putting there shows on DVD thing, I mean there newest toon Phineas & pherb has already had 2 dvd releases with 2 more lined up for next year so far. I would'nt be suprised if we got at least the 1st season of Stitch! on DVD eventually (now if only disney would get around to releasing the origional and the rest of their early/Mid Y2K toons, like Kim possible, American Dragon, emperor's new school..etc...you know the ones that were good &/or decently watchable.) ( I mean they started puttin gthe 90's disney toons on DVD so surly the Y2k ones will come soon....Hopefully.)

Rather hypocritical of Stitch, seeing as he got a significant other in Angel. What, he can have a girlfriend, but Lilo can't have a boyfriend?

I am soooo wathing this.

On the topic of expriments EX 621 or Chopsuey was the final prototype of Stitch he was featurd in a game that was canon to the original show.

I want them to introduce him int this show I also heard that Felix will be making apperance (That cleaning one)

Also WHY THE HELL is Jumba teamed up with Hamsterviel again? And Pleakey!?! bad move Japan.

<Also WHY THE HELL is Jumba teamed up with Hamsterviel again? And Pleakey!?! bad move Japan.>

i think even if this is considered a sequel by disney, japan is introducing it as a remake, so they'll introduce the main characters to japanese audiance the same.
(they only changed lilo and her sister, to make the story in japan (japanese island) with japanese characters).

i also think, so the viewers won't feel weird about watching hawaiian characters speak japanese

Which is odd cause, correct me if I am wrong, Hawaii was used to station Japanese immigrants affected from the aftermath of WW2?

still don't think they spoke japanese... it's like dragonball the movie, instead of making the hero chinese they made him american since it's aimed at american viewers.

They shouldn't have had Goku played by Justin Chatwin. I'm sure American viewers aren't so insular that they wouldn't have been able to relate to an Asian actor playing as Goku. Better yet, Evolution should've never existed in the first place.

well..... hollywood tries its best to please the viewers, they thought presenting the story in america would appeal to american viewers.
movies are all about fantasies, if you can relate to the hero you can enjoy the show more.

I don't relate to Japanese heroes being bastardised in American movies.

From what I hear, the Dragonball movie was pretty popular in Japan.

i can see that, it wasn't that bad, just the end part..... also the main actor has a funny voice
now that i think about it, i never heard of japanese remaking hollywood movies, they remade cartoons but never movies... strange.

Previews have been hinting for weeks that Lilo would appear during the 3rd season. Coincidentally, the episode in question recently aired in Japan.

3rd season, huh? I guess this show's done all right for itself.

The show sometimes sneaks it way on the top ten highest rated animations in Japan, so surprisingly it's done very well for itself.
