this new place i work in was supposed to use english but other than me and the kids no one speaks english. its so bad i want to puke each time my colleagues talk their structure is so bad that i dont get a thing they're saying X____X they really really suck! my head hurts trying to understand what the words they say are supposed to mean.
the kids learn more enlgish in my art class than in their English class... i mean their teacher says "henry two" and "congratulating at the graduating" 0___0

i'm venting about it because they gave us forms to fill out about the strengths and weaknesses of the school. i really want this job but i fear god, the kids are going to be laughed at if they go studying college in america with that knowledge, what should i do?

the books really are wondeful, they're from the internations learning orginization, that's top dollar material... its just the teachers suck really bad. also if matters arent bad as they are the teacher before me wants to teach kids boring stuff like clay and paints or in her english "mud and color".. but i want to teach them art history and all the different wonders of art. i'm very passionate about art i just dont know what to do. i cant forgive myself if i betray art and teach her baddly picked lessons.. not to mention she chose them for 15 year olds. that's just so sad and lazy.

also why oh why didnt the school hire westren teachers? i kept thinking about it since day one. i worked in less rich schools that had native english speakers teach English and science. its just a logical move, the subjects are too strong i'm sad at how the teachers leave out most of the contents of the books just cause the words are too hard for them : (

Sweatdrop why cant i just accept them, why do i feel hurt for English being used that bad? ... i'm so confused.

Thats the case with any public school here and foreign language's. Here you can't take Spanish or French in highschool and expect to study abroad. It's a laughable notion, you need to study on your own. Well I guess the difference is there's no short of Spanish speaking teachers in Oklahoma. [/Jeff Dunham]

To be fair, English is in pain wherever it is spoken as a matter of course. I like to think I received a reasonable education in the mechanics of grammar and vocabulary, and yet that education was and is woefully inadequate to the rules of the English language. Most people wouldn't have even received my level of education, a thought that frightens me. Moreover, I learned more rules of English from studying Latin and Greek than I ever did in public school. Sentences ending in prepositions are like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Clearly, I was Henry Higgins in a former life.

English is in pain? Where is it hurt?

What's that Lassie? English fell down the well again?

All joking aside, the structure of the language isn't helped but the variety of seeming paradoxes one can encounter. For example, if spoken, the difference is clear, but in written form...

A farm can produce produce. The bandage was wound around the wound. The present is a good time to present the present to the President.

Stuff like that, coupled with inconsistent rules for creating plurals, how words in one context mean something entirely different in another even if used in exactly the same way...

/given how many exceptions there are to the "i before e" rule, can it even be called a rule?

Not only does the English Language borrow words from other languages, it sometimes chases them down dark alleys, hits them over the head, and goes through their pockets.

not me not me!!!!

vec you're making English sound so scary where in my case it was a blessing. i learned everything from English it opened my eyes to the world if anything we're not thanking it enough. but i do understand what you mean, still English is an easy language there's no excuse for the mistakes i saw at work.

btw i went ahead and made my report, i cant be the reason for the kids failing in life, i had to speak up and just say it "you suck at English" 0__0 now i have to wait for their reply i hope i dont lose this job for being too good of an employee. XD like my sister, she got fired last time for being over qualified. that's just mean. do your job good and you get the boot... what a world.

I hope you weren't that blunt!

...But then again, if they're that bad at English they probably don't understand what you're saying.

They're probably thinking "I'm sucking on something at English!? Silly Mada, English is a language not a place!"

Actually I think English is a pretty hard language to learn. Probably because so many of our words have multiple meanings and depend on context or delivery.

I am downright atrocious at English and it is my home language!

you might be right in a way see i think english is easy in a way of learning but pronouncing it is probably the hard part about it. i really get tired speaking english, i even lose my voice with it. it just has rough sounding words that make the whole jaw moves, its all because of the R and L those letters are so hard in english.
and i hate saying "world" and "word" it hurts my tongue >___< waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

and no CT i was careful .. though i said something negative about a teacher and she thanked me as if it was a praise..so yeah sometimes they dont get what you're saying at all. but the students are good. i had fun with misbehaving kids letting out their feelings XD sure i was scolding them but to hear those little kids speak clear fluent english made me smile inside.
