well with the talk about mortal kombat might as well talk about other games or cartoons you want to see in the big screen.
now this thread is about cartoons or video games being remade into live action movies.

for me i'd like to see the silent hill games, cause the first was excellent. now i'm hoping they're gonna make silent hill 2 just like in the game.
also silent hill 4 the room, hollywood cant go wrong with this, its really scary and a perfect horror story.

Silent Hill 1 had a fairly decent adaption, but all talk of the sequel has more or less faded away, which is a shame as Silent Hill 2 is the richest plot material in the entire series.

For myself, I imagine that we're getting to the point where the presentation of storylines in videogames is a movie unto itself and requires no live action adaption, hence why Metal Gear should never be considered, but there are of course some epic videogames which though they have great presentation, are sorely lacking on plot.

Zelda, I'm looking at you. Zelda and Metroid would be great movies, heck even Fire Emblem. A 1-2 KO punch from Radiance and Radiant would be LotR style epic awesome.

And just because I want to keep the Nintendo bandwagon rolling and Rocky is a great movie, so all it's rip-offs are too, Punch-Out!!

i wonder if you said zelda after watching the april fools trailer on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBCzkz3gHb8   i agree to it too it would be awsome to see.

i thought metal gear is easy to make, just like they made G.I Joe, iron man and transformers, a metal gear movie would be cool. i dont get why you think the cutscenes in the games are enough. metal gear can have a movie with its own storyline doesnt have to be a remake of one of the game stories.

Video game movies are notorious for missing the point, but I really like quite a few of the "awful" adaptations out there. I thought the Street Fighter movie (1994) was hilarious, and I really enjoyed the Super Mario Bros. movie (I kinda have a thing for sci-fi/real world re-imaginings of fantastic settings, a la Dark Knight). Cartoon adaptations have had better luck, but not by much. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was fantastic back in the day. The first Transformers film was pretty damn good. I really enjoyed Speed Racer and G.I. Joe, for pretty much the same reason: a self aware intentional nostalgic cheesiness.

And then, Marmaduke.

Ughhhhh.

Heck yea man! TMNT! Woo hoo! Although...it was a comic first. 😛 I, for one...absolutely adore the Ninja Turtle movies. Never got to see Speed Racer...so wanted to though. G.I. Joe was fun. I too enjoy the SF[1994] movie. Bison's line[you know which one i'm talking about]...oh man...do I even need to post it. So.Great. xD! SMB was a really fun movie as well. *thumbs up*

Someone just give me a new animated Sonic movie. Heck...i'll talk OST if I could find it on dvd for less than $80!!!

hey hold on, i thought zingif's line was the coolest "quick change the channel!" but yeah those cheesy lines are what makes movies or games even fun.

i wont mind a CG sonic movie, it would be nice. i liked final fantasy 7 CG, i'm sure sonic would be cool too.

Hey, wow. Tycho talked about this exact thing today.

The "Mortal Kombat
Rebirth
" short exists in that continuum that appends gravitas to
fundamentally ridiculous subject matter by attempting to reconcile it
with the real world. That's something I do as a form of recreation; I'm
not trying to say that this isn't a good time investment. Alan Moore
takes cultural shrapnel and transforms it, via a similar process, into
material that assaults the mind. I'm just not certain that every brand
can withstand this
kind of analysis
.

Also for relevant lulz,

I'm still holding out for a Captain Planet movie. Done correctly, that would be all shades of awesome.

it reminds me of galactica for some reason, i always thought it could be live actors its a cool storyline.

Huh? I'm not sure which one you're referring to, though I haven't seen the movie, but I've seen "best of bison" videos on youtube and I'm still not sure what line you're talking about. I'm not very familiar with game-to-movie adaptations in general, actually...

Anyway , I agree with the idea that Zelda would make a good movie, though I think it would work better adapting something with a more generally-linear story (ie. Ocarina of Time) than something with a repeated-loop structure within the story. (ie. Majora's Mask... though I haven't played much of that one.) Especially with Ocarina of Time, I found the style of the "young Link" component fairly similar to Disney movies, in its oscillation between cutesy moments and heavier moments, and I found the style of the "adult Link" component fairly similar to Lord of the Rings... or at least the 1st movie, (didn't see the 2nd and 3rd) what with its darker, less cutesy tone, and harder-to-follow storyline.

He probably means "OF COURSE!" but "GAME.... OVAAAA!" is also pretty memorable.

what's wrong with disney movies? i like them and really miss those clear fun stories they make.
i like link as an adult of course but well i dont mind kids starring in movies, sometimes it works better, even if they do have a chance to make it with adult characters because of the ocraina of time storyline, i'd still rather link be played by a kid. that's how he's supposed to be.
and really is it me or there's no new movies with kids as the main characters?
i really did hope transformers would have a kid star in it, it would've been more fun to watch a kid being friends with giant alien robots, i can imagine the cool stuff they could've added to the story.

also i remembered robotech, i've been seeing a lot of advertisment about it lately even though its an old cartoon show. perhaps with luck it will be turned into a live action movie. robotech already had lots of movies mostly anime but one was a CG anime movie. i think we'd all agree its a good bet.

I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with Disney movies. o.o

What I said was that the young Link part more closely resembled Disney in tone, and that the adult Link part component more closely resembled LotR in tone; but even within each part there was back-and-forth changes of tone, and it's this variety of styles, and the changes between them, that probably has more to it than each style on its own would...

the game was excellent and the story was interesting, a time machine gone highwire, instead of saving the dinosaurs the dinosaurs eat the scinetists XD its like residentevil without the zombies.
and honestly who here wont love another dino movie, i wish there were more dinosaur movies and i dont mean comedies, adventure and horror just like the jurrasic park movies.
