VrrrrRRRRMMMM... SCREEEECH!
Those were the sounds heard by Mobius, Hukos and Jason as a fast-moving car rocketed down the street straight past Mobius's Jeep, before screeching to a halt. Moments later, it backed up the road toward them, and the right-hand side window slid open. A grinning vulpine face poked out slightly, looking at Jason.
"Jase! Hey man, long time no see!" grinned Ash, for it was he. Noticing the sword in his hand he snickered. "Can't keep you out of the fight, huh?" But before the hedgehog could reply, a shout was heard. "Ice those hotbloods!". Ash glanced around, noticing the oncoming squad of Frizonians.
"Yow! Looks like we've got trouble..." he hit a button on the car's dashboard, and part of the bodywork folded neatly open, and revealed a set of purposeful looking machine-guns. "But hey, always be prepared as the motto goes!" With that, he let rip at the approaching Frizonians, for the moment having little opportunity to introduce himself to Mobius - Hukos he'd met a few times before after all. At the same time, he made use of the radio in his car to quickly yell something to Vector. "Vec, this is Ash. I've just met up with Jason, Hukos and a guy I've not had the pleasure of introduction to yet. We've some cold company onto us, but we should be OK!" I think. he added mentally.
OOC: Hope that works ;p
Jin threw the cellphone over his shoulder once everything was said and done.
"Hey now," Jin spoke up. "I'm on top of things, too!" Leaning back, he looks toward the direction of the MoFo General Bar, and then sighs. "I mean, only at the bar, but I do my thang," Jin snapped his right fingers in the air and rolled his neck to the left, an idiotic smirk on his face.
Ryan could only roll his eyes. "Well, then? You going to be alright?"
All Jin could do was clasp his arm. It was encased in a thick sheet of much frozen ice, and didn't look like it'd be melting any time soon. "No," replied his soft, concerned voice; his eyes did not leave site of his arm now. "But you heard his ass," he turned to face Ryan. "Let's get going." Jin turned eastward. About three to four buildings down and they should be where they were instructed to go. "Think you can keep up? Or am I going to have to hold your hand?" With that statement, Jin began his run towards the edge of the roof, hitting his best top speed to make a jump across the street and onto the next rooftop.
OOC: Gah, haven't been here since Saturday. x.x
I hope my akward schedule isn't screwing things up for everyone else.
IC: Hukos stared at the being coming down onto him and then back at Mobius, Jason, Ash, and any others that would cross his path.
Hukos noted that the incoming enemies used guns. Crap. Long range combat was not Hukos' specialty. He was much more accustom to close quarters combat and much better at it. And he didn't want to reveal to these things his other talents in earth based manipulation, in case he needed those later as a surprise.
"Ash! This is Mobius, a self-proclaimed detective. And uh, I gotta dodge!" Hukos shouted back at the vulpine after dodging a blast of ice which froze the ground in which he stood upon.
He may have to reveal his talents after all.
"Think you can keep up?" were the last words Ryan heard, as he began to elevate himself slighty. Looking up from his feet, Jinw as already running off...
"This'll be funny."
Jin was about to take a diving leap forward, but this time, his leap was much more profound. Eyes looked left and right, to see that he was still in mid-jump, hovering above the rooftops and steadily climbing. A glance up allowed him to realize that Ryan could
"Fly? You can fly, and you didn't tell me?" Jin stared in dumbfoundment for a moment, as he saw Ryan was holding onto him via his shirt now.
"Well, you grabbed me so fast last time I didn't realize what was happening until it happened!!"
"Well" Jin countered "This is good to know. Means I can save energy and money on trips out of here. But uhh, make sure you DO NOT DROP ME, or I will hunt you down." The pair laughed, as they sped over toward the east, getting an aerial reconnaissance of the situation.
Painting watched over the fight for a few moments before running to the side of Kaze's chao walker, and nearly slipped on the ice. He regained his balance and yelled out, "Hey, Sam!" he held up a hand and quickly formed a yellow grenade in it, with a button at the top. He pressed the button down, and the grenade gave off a faint yellow glow. He stepped back and threw it at one of the aliens that was standing in the open, it struck the ground in front of its feet and generated a small explosion of yellow energy, not enough to severely injure it but surely enough to knock it over and stun it. Now that he had drawn attention to himself, he didn't bother trying to move to avoid any possible incoming attacks.
*EDIT*
OOC: I'm following Kaze's lead.
"Okay. Kaze out."
Kaze cut off the communicator and called out to Prickle and Kayla, "Thanks, you two."
Quickly, she took a look around her so far; one Frizonian was shrunken by Lena, and two of them were dispatched. The other three had scurried off. Where were they...?
Various thoughts and ideas started playing around in Kaze's head. She was a sitting duck as long as the Chao Walker's feet remained frozen in thick ice.
Then an idea struck her as Painting tossed one of those grenades at the Frizonians.
"Kayla, Officer Prickle, you two cover me and the-- tigress," Kaze instructed, just noticing Ari's sudden change. "Try to take care of the ones out in the open while they're shooting at the ground, watch out for the ones in hiding. Fox-boy, you're gonna help me out a little."
Painting turned back to the mech, his expression a mix of straining to see the talking chao inside the mech and looking slightly confused.
"You called, Sam?"
"Make another one of those explosives again, if you can." She moved one of the Walker's arms so it motioned at the ice around the mech's feet. "Toss them right here."
Even as she said this, she aimed the gatling gun at the mech's feet as well and resumed using up her ammo.
It was a risk, but she had to get rid of this ice.
"Don't let up," Kaze ordered, trying to sound confident. "We've gotta break through here and keep going!"
Lena returned back to the group in time to see the fox and the chao working together to try to free the walker. She thought about changing back to regular form but with those aliens still about, she'd risk blowing her cover. She flew over to the Walker and sat down on the back of it for a moment to catch her breath. She then noticed the fox produce another one of those grenades...and her heart jumped a few beats.
Kairus practically laughed at the sight unfolding below him...internally at least. He hovered to a halt, letting the beams lance off a field of psychokinetic energy that manifested itself around him. He simply surveyed the surroundings before determining his next move.
Ultra Sonic grimaced as his traction suddenly ceased. Oh boy. How lovely. Icy floors! The mortal enemy of the fleet-footed.
The blue hedgehog grimaced as he wobbled on the icy ground, his left hand transforming into a blade. The adamantium clashed against the frigid aliens, small chunks of ice breaking off...but there were still so many. Okay, idea time. What to do when a situation seems improbably difficult?
A freeze ray lashed out, nearly striking his pointy ear.
Running would work.
He turned...and then, in classic 'de-cleater' fashion, his feet went straight up as his head crashed back onto the ground. Dazed thoughts ran through the hedgehog's head. I had feet and now I don't...
"Eliminate the hotbloods!" ordered the Frizonian squad leader imperiously. The eight Frizonians under his command scattered to take cover from Ash's machine guns, returning fire when an opportunity would present itself. Jason rolled behind the vulpine's car, his mind quickly trying to sort and file everything that was happening around him. After he caught his breath, the hedgehog gritted his teeth, trying to formulate some plan of action as all the cylinders of his mental capacity fired.
The longer we play on defence, the more likely we lose. We have to strike back someh--hey!
Jason banged on the side of the vehicle. From within, he could hear Ash yell, "What? Don't mess up the door, Jase!"
"Captain, idea!" Jason shouted back. "Run them over!"
A freeze ray struck the street about half a foot away from Jason. His heart made an Olympic leap into his throat before he shouted, "Go, go, go!"
"Oooh, nice - we have something to do!" Mobius smirked, knowing that the best thing to do was to go as the distraction to let the others grab some time.
"HEY, Lamewads - YO...Over here, Come put me in the cooler, eh!"
Mobius grinned, before diving away from a volley of icebeams that posed a serious threat to the heat in his tailfeathers.
He pulled out the small pistol again, ducking and rolling behind his own jeep and returned fire blindly with 4 shots, not overly sure if even his own bullets could do anything to these rather frigid looking alien popsicles. There was no way he could take them all on like this, he concluded.
He put the small weapon away, knowing there were only 10 rounds left in this clip, and another 3 clips in his belt - making a grand total of useable bullets in total. There was a shotgun in the back seat of his jeep, but the useable door was the other side...where so happened the fleet of advancing army was moving towards them.
" 8 in formation, 1 DEFINATELY has to be the leader of the small bunch...take HIM out, the rest'll fall away. "
He whispered to himself...only then realising the fact that he should probably be making with a plan already.
The friezians ...or whatever he figured they were called (He SO wasn't paying attention to the details of these guys) were simply looking more indomitable - him and the others were looking somewhat outflanked, and perhaps outgunned.
"Awww, nuts...I did NOT wanna have to do this!"
He stood up, using the butt of the pistol to break the window of his own jeep...with a grimace of absolute 'I don't wanna do that!'...and crawled in quickly, slamming the key in as he kept himself low in the seat to avoid any blasts that may come through. Miraculously, they hadn't quite started firing on the vehicle itself, and he knew that was bound to change soon. The shotgun was in the back seat, just waiting to be used - his faithful companion on so many adventures...he reached for it, feeling the grip of the handle against his fingers, knowing that perhaps this was just what was needed right now...for himself right now, at least.
The jeep was being approached by a few of the Coldhearted aliens, under orders from their leading officer...freeze-rays at the ready to strike at the slightest movement. This was fast becoming a really baaad day, all around.
IC:
Ash grinned crazily. Jason's idea was exactly the kind he loved. "ROCK AND ROLL!" he yelled, as he punched the gas and a button on the car's dashboard as well. There was a rumble from the rear of the vehicle as a part of the bodywork slid open revealing a powerful booster of some kind, and the tyres screamed as the car shot forward, barrelling straight through the middle of the Frizonians - handily enough, slamming straight into the one who'd been barking orders a moment ago.
...unfortunately however, it seemed their frigid enemies had had the same idea as some of the others - the road had become a nightmare of slipperiness. The car spun crazily round a corner and narrowly avoided slamming sideways into a building forecourt - but at least the head Frizonian and one or two of his buddies wouldn't be giving them any more bother Ash mused as he very carefully tried to get the car moving again. Fortunately the heat from the rear-mounted booster had melted a path behind him when he'd shot round this bend, so he at least had some dry road to make use of. He got moving again and started heading back to where the others had been - with a bit of luck, they'd have taken out the other Frizonians and they could get going to wherever they might be needed...
Painting held the grenade in his hand for a second, and asked. "You sure?" after getting one last approval from Kaze, he set the yellow grenade on the ground in between the walkers feet and stepped back, it exploded after a couple seconds, and the ice was broken away. Minimal damage was done to the walker itself. "There ya go! Let's show these icy guys what we're made of!"
Kayla threw herself to the ground as she avoided a blast from the freeze rays.
"Primus, these guys just won't let up!" she exclaimed.
Then, she heard Kaze plea to cover her.
"Gotcha," she replied.
She leveled her fusion cannon at the alien. The resulting explosion melted him, and the resulting heat wave melted yet another one.
"Is everyone okay for the most part?" she asked, "Kaze, can you move now?"
Ryan hovers down to the end of a rooftop, and lets Jin down to perch over the edge. Looking down, he observes the complete chaos playing out before them. Distraught, he goes to fold his arms across his chest, only to be met with the lifeless chunk of ice that was his left arm.
"Tsk," he pouted, and placed his arms back down. "Whelp..." observing every little tidbit that was going on below, he attempted to come up with any sort of plan to aid the other forumers. An upfront attack? N'ah, he thought. We'd be a running target for them.
Split up and flank on both side? Mm, can't split up - should one of us fall, that's less we have for an offensive - we need everyone.
Maybe sneak up and take them up one on one, until we reach the core of the fight, where the other forumers are. Damn no, we'd be spotted within the first attack - there's way too many of them to even think of that.
"... I'm out of ideas, dude," turning to Ryan, a look of hopelessness fell over his face. "Personally, we're damned if we do, damned if we don't. I say we take our chances and fall in loud and in charge." Grinning, he closes his eyes, and just imagines the outcome. He grins, and meets Ryan eye to eye once more. "Your call."
Silver noticed the road infront of him beginning to transition into ice, then the battle insuing farther ahead. He formed a fireball in his hand, and threw it ahead at the group of ice creatures. He drew both of his swords and charged forward, throwing the occasional fireball ahead of him to melt the ice in his way and hopefully disable one of the soldiers. He skidded to a stop next to where Ultra had fallen and held out a hand to help him up. "Here, c'mon!"
What a time for me to NOT be the offensively skilled one...still
"Well then, let's just drop in and fly on through? I'm pretty sure we can cause a crashing mess-and my shadow barrier can hold out against their freeze rays long enough for us to make a hasty retreat."
"You mean, just fly right into them. Headlong?"
.."Y...yeah!" Ryan said half assuringly. "It'll work, trust me. I know physics. So....hold on!"
While not completely satisfied now reassured by Ryan's answer, Jin found himself once again airborne. Grabbing Jin by his good arm, Ryan flew off the platform and sped upward as much as this body's reserved limit would allow. As he ascended, he took careful note of Jin, who seemed to be fine-albiet a bit chilly moving in the wind like this. That changed, as Ryan just dropped.
Divebombing with a person was strange. You felt this active, hot-blooded life directly next to you, and even though it seemed like certain death-there was such an exhilaration to it that it made you feel as if you were going to survive impact long enough to tell your friends about it.
At least, that's what Ryan felt as he pulled up at the last second, gaining enough speed to literally be a two man torpedo-and to encase their headlong charge in that same smoky force field that protected them from the freeze rays earlier. Their offense was astounding, but Ryan knew he couldn't drill through them forever. Jin cheered with excitement as they plowed through a hefty flank of the oncoming troops, making a unknowingly straight beeline for the position where Kaze was stationed.
Freeze rays came from the front and sides, but that shadowfield was able to give them a drill-like offense and enough barrier defense to continue with no sense of slowing down...as long as Ryan could continue using that energy..
"If you see anything or anywhere I can stop-alert me as fast as possible. I'd rather just land than to crash in the midst of all these Freezer Burn folk." Ryan yelled as he pressed on, feeling his body tax itself immensely.
"Naa, not there. Double parked. Triple park-geez where are the tow trucks nowadays?" Jin amusingly joked, before pointing to what seemed to be a hunk of moving metal not even 50 meters away. "If you can make it over there, that would work. Seems there's a bunch of suckers standing their ground."
Ryan merely nodded and tilted his trajectory upward, erupting out of the sea of icemen and skimming over (sometimes through) their heads like a skipping stone.
Ultra Sonic grimaced as he wearily got to his feet, hand clutching onto Silver's. Okay. Not a popsicle...not frozen...what now...? Forcing the delirium out from his mind, the blue hedgehog noted a number of the Frizonians diverting attention towards the flying duo of Jinsoku and...some other guy. I know Jin...and that other guy seems familiar...
(GM: Revival reference!)
The blue hedgehog grimaced as his left blade shifted back into a hand. Fighting here wouldn't accomplish anything. "Time for higher ground."
CHYOOM!
The hand suddenly detached from Ultra's adamantium arm, connected to a steel tether. It grabbed onto the rooftop of a nearby store, its surface coated with freeze. "Going up."
Silver could only blink before he was suddenly grabbed by Ultra and hauled into the air. "HEY!"
"We can be like Obi-Wan. We have the high ground!"
"I'm fine now," Kaze replied, moving the Walker's legs to make sure they were still functioning properly, "Thanks to this guy." She motioned to Painting, who just stared at the chao with a slightly goofy grin.
"Don't get yourself frozen, you hear me?"
"Sure thing." Painting was still smirking. "Whatever you say, Sam."
At this point, the last Frizonian trooper left out in the open, just recovering from Painting's previous grenade attack, collapsed in a melted, steaming heap as Officer Prickle riddled him with several bullets.
"Everything seems clear," said the echidna bitterly. "Maybe the other ones ran off?"
Kaze shook her head. "No. They're still hiding somewhere. One just disappeared. I can't pick them up on sensors or radar, either."
Suddenly, dying cries of alien troopers were heard, then one of the hiding troopers ran out into the open, clearly in panic, shooting at something was unseen but for only a moment. The rays seemed to absorb into a fast-moving smoky blur, which seemed to rip through the alien's head at it shot upward again.
Kaze and the rest of the rag-tag group watched as it landed not even a yard in front of the Chao Walker, skidding within another foot or so.
---
OOC: Assuming Ryan and Jin weren't too far from where this small group was and already passed by Ultra and Silver, I hope this suffices. If not, I'll fix it accordingly.
Hukos looked on as the jeep left him with Frizions to take care of. He very well could teleport away from these guys, but that takes up a bit of energy, and if he were to fight some more of these guys, he might not have enough energy to take them on.
Here we go... I hope this works...
Hukos pulled out his blade and prayed that his speed would outmatch these losers. Hukos' blade had managed to damage on of the Frizonians, but not kill it. He had to act quickly by performing an acrobatic leap over the ice beams that came his way, just missing him by mere inches.
Okay, that was close... Too close.
He hoped that Ash and Mobius would come back soon, but it didn't appear that way. He assumed that they just forgot about him and he would have to fend for himself.
Three options. One, run. Two, teleport. Three, fight.
He decided that the third one would be the one of choice.
As the ice beams seemed to be coming sooner and sooner, Hukos decided his speed might not be enough. A large portion of the ground pulled itself seemingly out of nowhere and surrounded Hukos' body, at least for the moment until the ice beams froze it shut and eventually shattered. Although the shattered ice cut Hukos, it had done more damage to the Frizonians, as the one who had been previously injured was now dead from the impact. There were six initially, now five remain. Taking advantage of his new found momentum, he cut through a limping Frizonian to cut the number to four, but had to retreat before becoming an icicle. Only four left...
As the remaining ones decided whether or not to continue or retreat, he noticed a couple of hedgehog's taking the high road (Assuming they are nearby, from the previous context, it appears so.).
Do I ask for their help or not? Looks like they're trying to escape... Well I can't blame them. Ergh, I'll just see if I can't edge these bozos out.
"GOTCHA!!!!"
The jeep next to Hukos's general proximity burst into life - lights aflame and engine louder than the hubbub of the noise nearby, pulling out from it's location...
Mobius Springheart had all but forgotten the small assisted Voice Activated console he'd had built in a few months back, and was now firmly gripping the wheel of the jeep with both hands, a slightly gleeful grin across his beak as he headed straight towards one of the Freezy Alien SOB's - knocking him clear into the air, and down hard onto the ground.
Mobius whooped as he slammed the vehicle into reverse, running back over the dazed and floored creature...feeling a satisfying thump as the creature hit all four tyres in it's collapsed and prone position.
" HA, Now that's what I call a Close Encounter! " He muttered as he came to a halt in the jeep, immediately cursing himself out for not having anybody in earshot to share that quip with...
The troop of the remaining few live aliens were staring at his direction with renewed 'interest' - a mixture of confused hatred for the apparent abuse of their fallen popsicle comrade.
However, Mobius had a few things for them in mind too...as he jammed the shotgun that had been resting on his lap out the window with one hand, and fired off a round in their direction - mostly aimed to just create a gap for him to get moving again, but if he took out at least one of the Moving IcePops, then he'd be content too.
The engine roared once more as he pulled it back into driving gear, kicking it up into a fair speed down the road before skidding and managing to now face the direction he'd come from head on.
He grabbed the Microphone connected to the Small, yet loud PA system that was installed...addressing those of warm blood that were still within earshot.
"Those who MAY need a damn lift, Get your asses over here pronto - You got about 20 seconds...!!!"
He tossed it back to the ground - one eye on the Invaders outside, the other on the glove compartment.
There was one last trick he could pull if he needed it, but it wasn't an ideal spot to make such a play...and heck, he only had the one shot even if he did - something had to give, and quickly.
Meanwhile..
On the edge of the SPA, the tiny person known as ChibiBecca had been taking advatage of the sudden cold snap by building her own personal army of snowmen around her strange home. Having finished her own personal task, she turned her attention to all the screaming, yelling, explosions, crashing and other varied noises coming over from the city.
"Surely that little bit of ice can't be causing that much chaos with the traffic there..? oo; " Becca pondered to herself, while admiring how pretty the occasional ice beam shooting at the sky looked from this distance. Picking up a few of her sporks and tucking them into her pockets and belt and pausing only to bar the door to her fortress with a really scary looking pillow, she trotted off to investigate the chaos.
OOC: sucky, but that's the best i can do. ^^;
OOC: Let's give this a try.
IC:
Twenty minutes before the attack
Dreamer spent the day at the Sailor District helping his sister Dreamer move to his apartment by SPA. After lifting several items out the truck including the bed. Sailor Dreamer, looking for her collection of dresses and uniforms, sighs and looks at DoN's apartment.
"Remind me again why did you move with me again, sis?" Dreamer said to his sister while lifting her television. While she didn't pay attention to his brother's complains, she didn't want to answer his question.
Two nights before the attack
Sailor Dreamer could not tolerate the annoying sounds of the many parties and battles the other sailors did on a constant basis. She closed her windows and doors, turned off the lights and went to bed. Suddenly, she felt cold.
"I hate it when these sailors hit the friggin' heater!" ** grumble **
She checks the heater to notice that it was working ok. For once, Sailor Dreamer's heater was safe from any attack. Wondering how it's was intact yet felt cold, SDoN called her brother to take a look. He also offered his apartment to live while he takes a look at the heaters in her apartment.
Seconds before the attack
"I hope the work in your apartment doesn't take long but in the meantime, make yourself comfortable." While Sailor Dreamer took a long bath, Dreamer took a look at the window. He sees everything's normal and feels relaxed: "I don't have to work today." Grinning at the blue skies, he took a deep breath and laid upon a chair. Suddenly, the world stopped. Frozen in place with the surroundings with reversed colors, he felt a reversing effect. When it stopped and the colors reverted to normal, he was lifting Sailor Dreamer's television again. "Dejavu", he murmured. Sailor Dreamer said: "What's wrong?".
"Remind me again why did you move with me again, sis?" Dreamer said to his sister while lifting her television. While she didn't pay attention to his brother's complains, she didn't want to answer his question, again.
Dreamer turned on the tv to only watch the news of the invasion.
"So much for that vacation." Dreamer said to his sister. Whatever you do, DO NOT LEAVE THE APARTMENT unless it's SPD, ok.
"Got it!" Said Sailor Dreamer to her brother. Blockading Dreamer's apartment with her desk and the rest of her furniture to block all entrances, she left wondering to herself. "Did I knew about this?"
Arikyrenne moved to dodge another blast, muscles tensing prior to springing off to her right.
AH!!
She felt her feet slip out from beneath her as the ice patch caused friction to fail. For a second she struggled to regain her balance, slipping and sliding across the icy surface, when a nearby shock of cold startled her into hitting the ground anyway.
That was too close! she thought, realizing that had she actually succeeded in regaining her balance, that beam probably wouldn't have missed.
She was glad when two more people - a hedgehog and an echidna - arrived to help the group, and she took the opportunity to get back to her feet.
"Is everyone okay for the most part?"
"I'm fine," she responded to the hedgehog's question, and by the time the Chao Walker's feet had been freed, Arikyrenne had managed to carefully pick her way through the slippery fields of ice to rejoin the others near the chao's mech.
It was from that position that she watched on as whatever the smoky blur was appeared and landed before the group.
The smoky blur seemed to land perfectly, but in actuality, it was a rough landing. Jin, not one for crashing unless it was done by him and him alone, jumped free of Ryan's weakened grasp, and landed next to the Chao walker. Ryan however, didn't fare so well. Hitting the icy ground, he skidded forward a few feet, and lied prone to the ground for the moment.
Ugh, didn't think that would be so draining on me...how much have I been limited?
Eyes tried to focus, but all he could see was greyish blue-that then turned crisp and clear as his ears caught the sound of a voice-echoing across the airwaves.
"...Someone turn down the radio-while I get my bearings." Tucking his feet under him, Ryan slowly stood up, casually determining how much energy he had left to do anything. For the moment, he stood by himself as everyone seemed to be discussing the current situation.
(Profile posted now, since I figured out my character now, lol)
About damn time.
Hukos gratefully jumped into the jeep, while avoiding becoming an icicle.
"WHERE THE HELL WHERE YOU?!" Hukos huffed and puffed as it was quite obvious he was pissed at getting left behind, but at the same time glad he came.
"I COULD'VE BEEN AN ICICLE!"
(OOC: Thanks for taking the next post, DL)
IC:
Drifting to a halt due to the now slick surface of the ground, Jin does a quick observation of the surroundings. Everything seemed good - bunch of dead alien bodies - but that was a good thing, for sure. Satisfied, he leans up against the ChaoWalker.
"Whelp," snaps the hedgehog to break the ice, "ya'll seem to be doin' well!" Smirking, he knocks lightly on the ChaoWalker with his frozen left arm, producing a hollow "clang" with each knock, proving that everything was indeed well and in one piece. His arm was practically gone by this point, not feeling a single thing. Thawing it will do next to nothing by now.
Live and let die, he thought. "How about we find where all this trouble's coming from, eh?" Reaching into his pocket, he pulls out the cell phone that was sent his way. The ring tone blares loudly through the speakers after he dials out. Soon, we hear a click and a rather confused voice is heard.
"Uh... hello?"
"Yo, Vec!" Jin roars into the phone. "I think this is all of us! Now for someone who can magically get in my pants - and goodness knows I sure as hell wish it weren't you - you're going to magically tell us where to go to get to the friggin' end of this, right?!" Everyone else just kind of stared wide-eyed. Did this guy really just talk to an admin like that?
Kairus looked over. "You know, Ultra," he said, "I wouldn't have picked Obi-Wan...maybe Luke or something. At least he lived through the series." He alighted down on the building, the wall of ice that had coated his energy shield cracking and falling apart as the shield shifted. "You guys get to Jin and the others over there," he said, noting a few other presences nearby, "I'll cover you." He put one foot on the slick edge of the buildingtop, then put both hands to the sides of his mouth. The corner of his mouth turned upwards as he looked down at the Frizonians as their freeze-rays collided with his shield. Suddenly, he let out a Tarzan yell.
Contained momentarily in a psionic amplification field, the sound waves built between his hands and he let the burst go. The ice around the shield was atomized by the soundwaves, then the glass on the side of the building exploded magnificently, as did the concrete on the street below as the sonic blast hit the ground, sending a fine wave of dust, debris and sharp, hard glass flying in a cloud below them. "That's our cue. Exit, stage left!"
Lena looked on the newcomers with interest and a little bit of dread. They had come to their rescue but the red hedgehog looked like the kind of guy you might find picking fights with people...and the human looked just plain creepy. Thanks to the red hedgehog resting his iced hand on the walker, she fell off and landed on the ground, transforming at once back to her regular size. She rubbed her back for a moment and shook her head.
(Nu problem Jin)
His bearings all collected, Ryan turned his head, senses blaring that something loud was on the horizon. Everyone was tuned out, and only moments later, he heard the explosive sound of glass breaking-preceded by a yell from the king of the jungle? Just what the hell was going on here? Noting that nothing was heading their way, he figured this would be a good time to introduce himself.
Well, everyone seems stable enough...
Walking over to the group, Ryan took careful notice of everyone's face. . The Chao walker seemed familiar-but all Chao's looks alike. Although this one ...wore a bandanna, and it looked funny.-but everyone else was a pleasant new face. Good. No quick judgments about him would come to light.
"Well, while our resident loudmouth here takes care of our next step.." A nod over to the hedgehog on the phone "..I'll start. Name's Ryan. Excuse my appearance, I forgot my skin this morning."
Hope they think that was funny, cause it definitely wasn't funny up here, RyRy.
Ultra grumbled with slight annoyance as Kairus went off to provide cover. It's all about the line itself! Not the fact that Obi-Wan died. Besides, he came back more powerful than one could possibly imagine!
Nerd rage aside, Ultra quickly leaped off towards the next roof. Silver would be fine from up here; he didn't know him. He wouldn't be able to make any decisions in the heat (or chill, as the case was here) of battle without worrying about the guy having his back. Now, if it had been an old friend...perhaps Cookirini, or Tergonaut...
Next roof. A duo of Frizonian soldiers. They aimed their freeze rays. "Foolish hot-blood!"
Ultra ducked below the rays, lashing with his legs at one Frizonian while bringing his left palm into the gut of the other. A green bolt of energy emerged from within the small laser cannon of his artificial arm, searing through the alien like a hot knife through ice. A quick shove pushed the dying Frizonian off the building and to the ground, allowing Ultra to focus on the last one; just as he got up and aimed his gun, Ultra's left hand - morphed into a blade once more - smashed into his head. The creature gurgled, falling over. Dead. "Okay...now what..."
A brief look into the surrounding area revealed a few options. A number of forumers - Jinsoku the Moderator included - had gathered by a metallic ChaoWalker. The area near them was free of Frizonians...but only for the moment. More were spreading out, and would be upon them in a few minutes at the very earliest.
As for where they were coming from...
Ultra's eyes narrowed at the area further towards the edge of Sega City. Steam, obscuring a large object that had crashed into the street...with more Frizonians emerging. All sounds of battle had been silenced...something that spoke of an ill fate for the forumers and NPCs that had been in the area. Wonder what's inside that thing...aside from more aliens.
A curious dilemma. Strike there, and end the invasion...but he was just one guy. If got in too heavy, Redley would emerge. And he'd be...quite livid. Hmm.
Long-range support, from above.
Ultra traversed two more roofs. The main group by the ChaoWalker was roughly 1.5 miles away from the crash site. Three squads of Frizonians were advancing. Strike from above, make a lot of noise...distract the enemy, attract the others towards this position...
That sounded like a reasonable plan.
So it was with that in mind that Ultra, bearing both his handgun-shaped blaster and built-in arm cannon, aimed at the frozen aliens and fired.
"Uh... right," Kaze said, shaking her head a little to focus. "I assume you're the ones Vector sent?"
The mech took a step forward as the chao extended one of the arms forward. "I'm Kaze. Moderator." She spoke the last word with the same lack of confidence as before. She wasn't expecting anyone to shake the cold, metallic arm, it was simply a gesture.
Mobius looked at hukos with a smirk, before snapping on a pair of his view-finder shades...not the best long-range binocular items, but less cumbersome to use whilst driving.
"Hey, I'd love to chat more about this but..."
It was at that pount that the building nearby exploded, showering the jeep in debris and glass...it took a few moments for him to regain his composure, as he glanced back at Hukos with a quick frown - flicking the windscreen wipers on to clear his dusty windscreen.
" ...As I was saying - we really need to be checkin' back to the others - double time. BUCKLE UP! "
He chuckles, as he slams the jeep back into driving gear, and makes his way back to the crowd that was forming...ramming a couple of the cold-natured enemy out of the way in the process.
Now was not the time to be seperated, and he knew that much from his own experiances!
*dancingly descends down from the sky to the group, tossing HotHands to everyone* =D
The voice on the other side of Jin's phone, as well as on Kaze's communicator in her Walker, crackled a bit as the reptilian Admin chuckled.
"Yes, I'll get you out of this, Jin - have faith. But you'll need faith in yourself too, as well as you, Kaze, and all of you. Your strength is what Sega City needs right now more than ever, and you can do it."
Then there was a cough, and Vector continued in his distinctive growly voice. "But enough pep talk, there isn't time and I'm cold-blooded, so this weather is affecting me directly. The alien soldiers have been coming from whatever it is that landed in the middle of that apartment complex two blocks north of your position. So has a strange energy reading that seems to be lowering the ambient temperature of the city. Whatever they've got in there will eventually freeze over the city. The rest of the Admins are focusing their powers to prevent the city from freezing over, but they're only slowing down the inevitable. The only way to stop it entirely is to infiltrate the alien landing craft and either destroy it or at least the device that is cooling the city down. I'm assigning you the task of doing that. Should you accept it, you'll be facing grave danger, but if not, then it looks like the city is doomed..."
And that was when everyone got the HotHands packets from TTG as he flew by on a robotic turtle.
"Ah, good, those will come in handy! You may be able to use those to help melt the ice off of anyone who gets hit by a freezing ray. I'll provide more help once you've taken out the icesteroid, but until then, those will have to do."
-------
All over the city, where people fought against the Frizonians, they soon discovered that even the chilly air itself was hostile to the aliens if their suits were punctured in any way. A single puncture could seal itself up if not aggravated enough, but even several smaller punctures at once seemed to do the job nicely. The creatures inside, humanoids of living ice, literally melted to death when not constantly exposed to their native temperature of several degrees below Celsius.
But the Frizonians also had lots of experience with fighting hotbloods, and the roving squads were easily breaking into buildings and freezing the inhabitants inside.
Tergonaut, fighting against Frizonians with his omni-suit's weapons, covered the exit of an apartment building where a family of Non-Powered Citizens was evacuating. "Go, go! I'll keep them off! Get to the Roleplayers Guild for evac!"
The orange and blue armored figure transformed his arm into a stun cannon, and he fired electric shots that paralyzed the armored cryosuits of the Frizonian attack squad. However, he wasn't fast enough to get them all, and an ice-cold beam caught him in mid-aim, freezing him into place in a solid block of ice as other beams converged and added to the cold prison.
(OOC: Yup, just making a side-note there to explain why Justin/Tergo wasn't joining the rest of the group; I still don't plan on having him be part of the actual plot, I do that enough with my own stories as it is. ;P Consider this YOUR story that Tergonaut is getting a cameo in!)
-------
The Roleplayers Guild was not only a center of entertainment, but it was also one of the evacuation gathering points for the city during a dire emergency. Sega City police, equipped with riot gear and heavier weapons and vehicles to protect the location, patrolled the perimeter and directed incoming refugees into the safety of their cutoff zone.
Other locations were similarly guarded by SCPD Armored Division tanks and walkers; but there were not enough of them to make an attack against the aliens and still protect the various non-powered civilians. Their hopes rested on those forumers who could fight to save the city.
-------
At the crash site, a team of three Frizonians rolled out what looked like a howitzer-sized version of their freeze rays out of the crater and began setting it up at the edge of the crater. "The hotbloods may be attempting to counter the cryogenesis process," said one of the Frizonians as the cannon was rolled into position behind a frozen chunk of concrete that served as cover. "So it is our duty to cover this perimeter and prevent them from coming close enough to do any harm to the icesteroid. This freeze cannon should do the trick."
Connecting a hose from the icesteroid to the cannon, they powered it up and tested it out by firing at a nearby building. The continuing streaming freeze beam took only a few minutes to encase the apartment building in a block of ice.
"Excellent, it works perfectly," said the leader of the three Frizonians manning the defense perimeter. "They will not be able to get to the entrance of the icesteroid without passing us first. It would be folly for the hotbloods to attack us here.
OOC: Activating Active Boss System. The ABS is basically an OOC analysis of certain major enemies that will provide information that will be helpful to forumers when writing their posts so as to best represent the foes in combat. This helps run the GM more smoothly because it allows the forumers to engage the enemy without needing to wait for the GM runner (in this case, me) to post in reply to each attack. However, this also means that the forumers are responsible for writing their posts fairly so they don't do an instant one-hit kill. As this is an RP, you will need to roleplay from the perspective of your characters; see through their eyes and use your creativity to determine how they'll overcome this obstacle while making the story even more interesting! I'll post too depending on how things go.
Introducing MINI BOSS!
Frizonian Freeze Ray Cannon
Three Frizonian troopers man this weapon, a larger howitzer-style variant of their firearms. It has the capability to fire a larger, more powerful beam that can freeze entire buildings! It is also positioned behind cover, meaning a direct attack will probably not work so well. It has a range of half a city block, and can produce an ice cube at impact that is six feet in all of its dimensions in a single un-sustained shot.
However, there are some obvious weaknesses. The howitzer is positioned on two wheels, and must be manually turned by the troopers to aim at a new target. The weapon also requires at least one trooper to man it or it won't fire. The troopers are armed with their personal freeze rifles, but they cannot use them while operating or turning the cannon.
"Marcus is going to serve as my liaison with the forumers, so it's important that you join the others as
soon as you can," explained Vector.
MoKat examined Marcus. The guy seemed nice enough; if Vector trusted him enough to make him his liason, that was good enough for her. She idly wondered where Marcus the First and Marcus the Second were, but quickly re-focused on the current situation. "Sure thing, Vec. I'd better get MDM over here first tho'. Knowing that Chao, Kaze's probably in the middle of some heavy fighting by now."
The feline pulled something out of her Hair; the object in question appeared to be a Dark Magician card
which had a white square where there would normally be a picture. She mumbled something that Vector
thought was, "Dark Magician, get your ass over here!" Marcus raised an eyebrow as a purple cloud (which smelled suspiciously like Spam) formed next to the gray cat. MoKat put the card back into her Hair as the cloud dissipated, revealing a figure clad in a purple robe & armor. MDM looked around & realized he was in Vector's office. He didn't know the blond man in icy blue military fatigues, though, and quipped, "Who's the Guile wannabe?"
The feline glared at her Dark Magician and said, "He's Vector's liaison, Marcus the Third." She then rolled her eyes and gestured at the mage. "Marcus, this is my Dark Magician." She mentally added, ~"...who had better mind me better than he did the last time."~
~"Hey, it wasn't -my- fault! EAVIL provoked me!"~ the magician responded telepathically.
~"Just prepare to get in the air after I teleport us into that icy mess."~
~"Okay. I'll enjoy setting those invaders on fire..."~
Suddenly, Vector's personal phone rang. Confused, the croc curiously picked it up and answered, "Uh... hello?"
"Yo, Vec! I think this is all of us! Now for someone who can magically get in my pants - and goodness knows I sure as hell wish it weren't you - you're going to magically tell us where to go to get to the friggin' end of this, right?!"
MoKat took that as her cue to touch both of her companions and teleport them out of there.
(LOL @ TTG)
The raspy breaths that Ryan exhaled were not to be taken lightly. He never did like cold weather anyway. A simple wave to Kaze, to ensure that no hard feelings were felt since he declined shaking the Walker's robotic arm. A slight glance over to look at the little girl that seemed to just kinda..appear from..behind the Walker? No, she looked like she fell? Strange. Second glance revealed a tigress and a fox-and that seemed to be the motley crew. (OOC: I hope I didn't forget anyone so far in this area.)
Almost instantly though, Kaze's radio crackled to life, and a strangely familiar voice began to resonate what looked to be their next objective Turning away as the radio blared on, Ryan looked north, spotting nothing but more and more icy blue structures being created. Kneeling down, he was quick to grab up 2 packages of HotHands from TTG and shove them into his windbreaker jacket. Zipping the jacket up fully-he growled under his breath "This outfit was really not made for this."
Fist tightened as he stared down what seemed to be an easy pathway to that area, but he knew better. He'd wait for the group to get a plan together before doing any sort of bravado tactic.
Would really be nice if you'd lift the power embargo Derek...but you're probably not in control of that anymore either.
Squealing tires however broke through his internal monologue. Attention darted left to notice a Jeep barrel its way through some fallen debris, heading toward the group's general direction. Ryan nonchalantly walked back over toward Kaze and the tigress, pointing.
"Hey Jin, we get car service during crisis? Nice. But couldn't you have got us something nicer... Must have lost your "in" with the Admins.."
Kayla quickly grabbed up two handfuls of the HotHands that were so graciously provided by TTG.
"Thank Primus he showed up when he did," she said, stuffing the packets into her jean pockets.
She shivered once before taking one of the packets and holding it close to her body.
"Why did I think a tanktop would be good in weather like this?"
Shaking her head, she checked the power gauge on her fusion cannon.
"85 percent power," she muttered, "Slag! I should've brought some energon cubes."
She looked at the remains of the Frizonians.
"I just hope I have enough to power to get through this. Otherwise, I'm slagged. Now what should I do?"
After thinking for a moment, she decided to stick with the group she was currently with.
'After all,' she thought, 'Multiple heads are better than one.'
Ultra stared at the HotHands. ...hmm. Unconventional. But useful.
Moments later: toasty goodness!
"Ah..." Now he could aim better on top of feeling (somewhat) cozier! "Now...let's see what we have here..." He aimed his laser blaster at the new weapon that had been rolled out of the icy asteroid.
CHOOM!
Red laser bolts rocked against the armored covering of the frozen howitzer. It slowly rolled, aiming up at the building he stood upon...then came blast after blast of frigid energy, sucking all thermal energy out of the building and covering it in frost.
Ultra paled at the sight. "Well crap. That's not good." With a running leap, he jumped off of the building...but down towards the three squads of Frizonians advancing down the road. "Well double crap."
BOOMF!
One Frizonian went down. Its four squad members immediately whirled around, looking at the blue hedgehog that had landed atop their comrade. "Hotblood...!"
Ultra blinked. "Uh...bye!" A quick expulsion of his detachable metal fist caused instant propulsion, the blow from his arm to the ground pushing him backwards. Ultra reeled his arm back in as he went sliding away from the Frizonians, the unconscious soldier beneath him serving as an impromptu sled. "Well that was close." Turning around, that's when he noticed he was going down just a slight incline - no more than four degrees - and was picking up a little bit of speed. Icy roads and what not.
Oh, and the group of forumers by the ChaoWalker were also in his way.
"...well triple crap."
KAPOW!!!
Ultra + Frizonian = Bowling ball.
Forumers = Bowling pins.
One of the forumers impulsively roared, "DAMN IT ULTRA!"
Just like the good ol' days! All was well in the universe...relatively speaking.
The Jeep, meanwhile, slowly cruised to a stop about ten yards away.
A packet of HotHands bounced off of Jason's forehead. He frowned as he looked down at the packet.
"Outrageous to think someone can drop these around like this is all a great, raucous laugh," he muttered. Slipping and sliding on the slick ground, he skidded to a halt by Ash's car and rapped his knuckles against the door. The fox shoved the door open and nodded.
"Funny way to run into you again, isn't it?" posed Ash conversationally as he backed his vehicle onto the road proper. Jason waved a hand dismissively.
"Yeah, yeah, let's go. We should keep up with that jeep."
Ash adjusted something on his dashboard--all the buttons looked the same to Jason anyway--and the car kicked into gear, comfortably careening along the slippery road. The fox looked over at the hedgehog.
"Where's the missus? If only she was here then it'd be like old times."
"Last I saw her, she went to work..." Jason said with some uncertainty.
"Ah?"
Jason looked straight ahead. "Let's worry about catching up to the jeep."
OOC: Sorry for such a long delay in posting. Work has been nothing less than a right royal pain in the butt... =(
IC: In the confusion of having the ground frozen beneath him, the fluroscent green hedgehog had slid for a long distance in the wrong direction, a result of being carried by a lot of momentum. Several Frizonians had given chase.
With a dull thud, Gyser hit a nearby wall. He normally would have accepted the pain and lay down for a moment, but he had faced the Frizonians before, and didn't like the idea of being an easy target for them. Springing off his hands, Gyser faced his pursuers. The alien pair were not far behind, and already had their weapons aimed and ready.
"Hah! I've killed one of you before and I can do it again!" Gyser boasted, hoping it would distract them momentarily.
...It caused just the briefest moment of hesitation, which was all Gyser needed to shoulder slam one, and make tracks before the other could get a lock on him.
"Don't stop. Don't stop. Don't get frozed. Don't get frozed." He mentally chanted as he made his getaway.
"Now, to hopefully find some company" He muttered under his breath once he had lost sight of the Frizonians, as he speed off to look for the others.
OOC: Just a quick note to let you guys know I am still about and keeping up with this, relatively speaking. I'm just short on time currently due to limitations on access until Thursday. ;p
"WHOA!"
The rocking and the velocity of the vehicle made the ride quite hectic. But it was better than dodging ice rays, so Hukos said nothing.
"Ugh, you gonna try to find some wonderers? There could be quite a few and a large party would seem appropriate- HEY! Easy, I haven't had dinner yet."
OOC: Post placeholder. Don't worry, I am keeping up with this, I'm just not quite sure what to post yet.
OOC: Don't worry, Kaze. You're not the only one have trouble coming up with ideas.
Jin dusts himself off, and shuffles over to the blue mess of a mechanical hedgehog, only to lean over his face and yell,
"Dammit, Ultra," snorted the frozen armed one. Immediately a Jeep rolls over not far from the group. Trying to keep things in his mind under control, since multi-tasking was definitely not one of his strong points, he turns back to Ryan. Someone has to have an idea about this, right?
"Hey Jin," started Ryan. "We get car service during crisis? Nice," he smirks, "but couldn't you have got us something nicer... must have lost your 'in' with the Admins." Jin's jaw drops, and one of his brows quickly shoots up. Lifting a finger to speak his mind, all he can do is rolls his eyes up, pause a second, and instead just flips Ryan the bird.
"Screw off." Proclaiming his stand, Jin now reaches over and picks Ultra up by the collar, standing him up. "Of all friggin'..." pausing, he points to the Jeep. "I take it you know who's in that thing?" Once he turns his head, glaring towards the windshield, attempting to make out who's inside.
"Well," Ultra spoke, "I--"
"Shut up," Jin brushed him aside. "It's Mobius. I can't tell who the other dude is," sighing out some relief, he waves in the air towards their general direction to signal them over. "Now as far as everything else," he turns back around towards the rest of the group, slapping on the pack of Hot-Hands on his frozen arm only to, and with no surprise, cause a strong set a steam to sizzle out. "Introductions; Kaze, I know you, so hi. Everyone else, hi," he gives a simple, solitary, two fingered solute, one which didn't seem too enthusiastic.
What's with all the new faces, he wondered. Have I really been that much out of touch? Not one to be making new acquaintances easily, Jin folds his arms - uh - arm?
Damn it! He shuffles uncomfortably as he lets his frozen arm just flop over. His temper was starting to get the best of him.
"Okay, so the croc says to hit the ass-teroid," he spits over to his side. "Tss, well I ain't got any ideas. If it were up to me, I'd bundle up with Mobius over there, or catch a ride on the Walker. But if someone knows better, speak up. I moderate. I'm not getting paid to lead a friggin' team." Kaze's face turns to that of confusion.
"But," she chimes in, "... we don't... get p-"
"And that's why I solo it." Jin looks up to the rooftops. Damn it. Why couldn't he just have kept on going?
"Where's the missus? If only she was here then it'd be like old times."
"Last I saw her, she went to work..."
"Ah?"
Jason looked straight ahead. "Let's worry about catching up to the jeep."
"...right." replied Ash, frowning to himself. If she's gone to work... hm. I hope she's alright. I should check in with her when I get a chance...
He was, of course, thinking of Modesty Hobbes--or rather, Modesty Rapidfire would be the correct name to giver her now, as her and Jason had married some months ago. He smiled a little to himself at the memory - he'd been the best man, and had said a few things during his toast which he'd paid for later.
Ah, but it was worth it!
He snapped out of his internal reminiscince a few moments later as they swerved round a bend and caught sight of a group of other beings - non-frosty ones at that. Well, mostly. The red hedgehog among them had an arm partially encased in ice, though it seemed like he was melting it a bit...
The sleek shape of his Interceptor slid neatly to a halt alongside Kaze's Chao Walker, and he rolled the window down. He'd stopped on Kaze's left, due to him being seated in the right-hand side seat (thus hinting at where he might have gotten this particular vehicle from ;p).
"Hola Kaze! Enforcer Fox Ash is on the scene. What's the sitch looking like?"
He glanced around as he said this. Some faces he recognised, some he didn't. The red hedgehog, now he saw him close up, he recognised. That was Jin... he'd never met the guy before, but he'd checked the Administration's personnel records before so he'd know who was friend and foe in the City. Hukos he knew as well, he'd seen him a good few times before at the Lodge... and Ari as well, he recognised her too. But a good few of the others here he didn't know.
Still... if they've rallied here instead of fleeing or something, then I guess they must be able to help out in some way with all this. That's always a help!
He smiled to himself at this thought, whilst keeping his attention on Kaze for a sitrep.
The blue hedgehog rubbed some frost off of his shoulder, muttering, "Well...before any of you go anywhere, let me note that the big asteroid now has a giant howitzer guarding it."
"Howitzer?" incredulously asked Kaze.
"One that can freeze an entire building in moments under a concentrated barrage. If it hits you, you're toast...well, frozen toast." Smooth, Ultra. "Anyhow, there's also three squads of those 'Frizonians' on their way here."
"HOTBLOODS!!!"
"Er...well, they're here NOW."
Frigid rays lanced out towards the group.
"MOVE!!!" impulsively roared Jinsoku.
Mobius was a little barraged by the fast-paced introductions and conversations that were going on, but whatever - any and all conversations would have to wait, and anybody who was due to be inside the somewhat-not-spacious vehicle had better get a move on quickly.
"HEY, YOU HEARD THE MAN...If we're all seated an' ready, then lets SHIFT this game into overtime"
Mobius grins, flicking a look around behind him and just counting the heads who were in the back seat, and those who were still either outside or approaching.
Oh, snap...more Frizonians!
He immediately sighed - hell, he really should have restocked and re-armed the jeep a good while ago - he had nothing to retaliate with in here!
It was at that moment that he slammed his foot down on the gas and took off..applying the extra nitro-burst installed to enable an extra turn of speed.
They had to take out that howitzer before the place became chillier than Samanfur's most annoyed gaze...and right now, he knew that they needed to get a little out of sight and reach to come up with something, and quickly!
{{ I'll assume all who wish to Jeep it with Moby are in there now...there maybe some time in there for a little planning/comedic relief! Shall post the jeep's stop tomorrow or so, so that FULL progression of Character involvement can continue. }}
