Has anybody been watching this? i started on youtube last week, i was really skeptical about it with having the attitude "it's not seed, i'm gonna hate it." but actually i don't mind it. the characters and the environments seem to be much closer to how people would actually react when put in situations like that. as far as the gundams themselves go, they are a little underwhelming but then again this is from a guy that loved how advanced the seed ones were. but at the same time their simplicity is still really cool especially when dynamus snipes somebody. i'm hoping to catch up to the episodes playing on sci-fi if i can lol
me and will watched the entire thing recently, we quite liked it. ^^
have you seen Turn A gundam? wonderfully cheesy at times.
i haven't seen Turn A gundam, i've been pretty much limited to what cartoon network or other channels put on, but i heard it's pretty decent haha so what qualifies as cheesy for an anime?
Hmmm....I have not seen this. Was a huge fan of Gundam 0089 and 08th M.S. Team though...i'm assuming this is somewhat similiar?
Sci-Fi Channel is airing the second season now. They aired the first season a few months ago.
Gundam 00 is not related to the original series. It's set in the year 2307 (1st season) and 2312 (second season). No Zeon. No ZAFT. Just Earthers killing each other...
It's Syfy now, apparently. Lame.
Yea Syfy...that is weird. Wonder why hey did that? But you say it's just Earthers killing Earthers, Ichigo? Psh...I can just watch the news for that...
*shot* <-----See what I mean.
To put it short. If you though SEED Destiny was a complete mess, then Gundam 00 would lighten your mood, only a bit. It still has some of the silly stuff you would find in the last couple of Gundam series, but it's alright.
i didn't mind GSD too much, i wasn't sure what people were so bothered with to begin with actually. i suppose all the discussion about their views on war just didn't do it for some of the more hardcore fans.
I need to get around to finishing Gundam 00

I think it had something to do with the presented main characters being cast aside to bring back the old lead characters from SEED, then there was that whole mess known as the last episode where the writers just threw random plot twists that was never made sense to begin with.
... Oh Oh. And Shin (the lead) was a angst jerk who's character development... well, he really never had any other than being a angst jerk.

My problems with Seed Destiny begin with "HI I'M KIRA YAMATO AND I'M GONNA TAKE OVER THIS SERIES AND EMASCULATE EVERY OTHER MAIN CHARACTER UNTIL I AM THE MAIN CHARACTER AGAIN. ALSO I AM JESUS AND EVERYBODY LOVES ME."
And that's just the most glaring of Destiny's offenses toward my brain. The other offenses would be the overuse of stock animation, the endless endless ENDLESS angst and the cavalcade of Deus Ex Retardia that make up the last 20 episodes.
Then again, this is coming from someone who's favorite Gundam series are all in the 0079 century.
Oh yeah, one thing I should mention about Gundam 00.
CHARACTERS THAT HAVE THE MOST F***ING RIDICULOUS NAMES!
Alleluia Haptismal, Sumeragi Lee Noriega & Patrick Colasour just to name a few.
Don't worry, it's get's blatantly worse in the second season! XD

i'll give you the fact that the stock animation got a wee bit annoying, seriously whenever the destiny threw boomerangs the justice or freedom would counter with that same exact flip every time. i'm gonna ignore your exageration of kira lol but i actually thought it was cool when he got beat by shinn, it was a lesson in humility in it's own way. as far as shinn goes i thought he was an ok character. he was kinda like a kira or athrun gone wrong. more or less if basically everything that could go wrong for them did. i thought the series had some definitely cool fights and character developments though.
one thing i really like about 00 that seed didn't do is the fact that they intercede in every battle because it's their cause, whereas the archangel or the minerva would be sent into every single battle by top brass. (after awhile it was kinda like, seriously? it's the same with that guy in pearl harbor, nobody fights in every battle of the war even with bad luck.)
woops double post. sorry
I've been watching it. The characters remind me a lot of the cast from Gundom Wing. And as for the Gundoms themselves... I really don't know what to tell you. They stick to the same theme that the show has always had, although with minor adjustments. Although I haven't watched all the series' yet. Also, it's Lockon Stratus that has the sniper rifle.
You watch GS Destiny to see Lunamaria...the real problem with 00 is the lack of good eye candy. Hajime Yatate is slipping up badly.
hey now 00 has sumeragi lol
No comparison.
anybody get that weird beerfest feeling with neil's brother? granted they're different people and we were (sorta) notified of this possibly happening.
Now the predictable "Newtypes" have made their appearance. The "Innovators"...how unoriginal...
well i don't think they are really newtypes. obviously they're engineered if they have the same DNA and that connection to veda. if i remember correctly newtypes evolved naturally right? so i believe that's ribbons' plan.

"Oh Landfill 2, you're twice the man Landfill 1 was..."
lol ^ i'm glad someone else got that.
They also have a masked villain...how totally predictable...
Graham has to be one of my favorite characters so far. i'm not crazy about the name mr.bushido, but i like the mask and outfit. i love how in the first season he was constantly improving. plus that fight versus the exia was pretty tight yo.
It's gundom. Someone has to wear the mask.
it's not gundam unless there's a masked person somewhere in it.
from my understanding every gundam series has 3 things that they do as a kind of tradition, the first being a masked character as you guys pointed out, the second being that since the 2nd series premiered generally the main character(s) gets a new and improved model around the halfway point of the series, and the third (kinda unofficial) one is usually an enhanced race of humans (newtypes, coordinators, innovators, and you could make the arguement about the Zero system too i guess) some general trends anyway haha
The third one does not hold true. Mobile Fighter G Gundam didn't have any. It had something called the Dark Gundam.
thats true but at the same time many characters were effected by DG cells. if i remember correctly they could heal almost anything because they were designed for the earth to use.
My point still holds.
ok well i'm sorry for attempting to defend my point.
You're excused.
hmm, so Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion could possibly be seen as a part of the gundam universe.
masked man? check. pink-haired girl? check. people with super powers? check (spinzaku and lelouch's super chess skills) gaint robots? double check. ;p
Not even close. Parallel earth/alternate history.
you know it was just a theory right? no need to act like a jerk to her about it.
not even a theory, i was joking around. o.o *swats you both with her spork!* sillies.
so you figure syfy's trying to set a record for most commercials shown in a single half hour time period? they're actually cutting a few minutes of the show to pump in more commercials for stuff i don't care to watch. seriously i would've watched warehouse 13 but the massive amount of advertising they've been slamming in my face is a little off-putting.
Last night's episode was the first episode of Gundam I've seen since they stopped airing 0083 years ago, back during CN's short-lived Gundam craze. Fairly interesting bit of drama. I'd forgotten how SUPER SERIAL these mech shows can be.
The amount of commercials aired during Gurren Lagaan's run was fairly obnoxious... you mean to say they're adding MORE!?

Are they really? I suppose I wasn't off the mark when I felt that yesterday's showing on Syfy had slightly more ad time than usual.
Anyway, having only watched Seed and Seed Destiny prior to this, I've felt somewhat neutral on the series. On the one hand, it has its compelling characters (Ali Al-Saachez, Sergei Smirnoff), but it also has the same problem that all shows with huge ensemble casts like Code Geass do: far too many characters to want to keep up with after a while. Besides, the four Gundam Meisters are themselves not all that interesting, more than half the cast is being paired off with seemingly unreasonable mates, and...two Memento Moris? Abominable. It was disgraceful enough when Robotnik had two Egg Carriers in Adventure.
Oh well; at least Saji is contriving to be useful rather than a sideshow attraction nowadays.

actually yes i do believe they are, if you watch the japanese subs ( i only did the one time because i heard about this) after the end credits but before the preview there's a solid 2 minutes worth of show left, like during the episode with setsuna and graham fighting, at the end you find out that the innovators had a second memento mori. so syfy doesn't show the end credits (1.5 minutes at best) the extra 1.5 to 2 minutes of show, or the preview for the next episode (30 seconds maybe?) my theory is that nobody watches the three hours of star trek before gundam so they try to make up for it by raping us with commercials.
on the other side i still think saji is annoying. louise has turned into a respectable character, but he's still that lovesick puppy that he was in the first season.
just finished watching the first series of gundam 00.. remembered how much i liked that they showed a character actually growing up throughout a series, instead of seeming the same age the entire time, or only being younger in flashbacks. satsuma was cuter in the first season. ;-; and the angst! the angst!
the engrish phrase 'All gleen/green' seems to be pretty popular recently, i seem to hear it a lot in robot-based animes.
i gotta say that i maintain that graham aker is the best pilot in the series thus far, i think it's always been the quality of machine that he's been piloting that's held him back. but now that he's got the musaro and trans-am i think that it's gonna be a pretty fair fight between him and setsuna.
what does everybody else think?
imo i kinda think the top ten mobile suits in the series go something like this
1.00 raiser
2. tieria's gundam (can't remember the name)
3. Cheridim
4. Arios
5. very likely musaro
6. gadessa
7. probably the other innovator machine.
You just reminded me to go check wiki to find out what gender each innovator is supposed to be. >>; especially when one with a girly voice is referred to as 'he', and tiera magically grows breasts and perfectly faking a female voice in one episode.

Spoiler so don't look if you don't want to get ... Spoiled (hurrrrrrr )
Apologizes if I'm missing some parts. I'm kinda in a rush at the moment! ^^;
will not....read....spoilers....UGH do you have any idea how tempting that is? my guess is that the ones that look like girls are girls. (revive, healing) and the guys are ribbons, bring, the other dude, and regen. idk but that's just my guess.
you guys are watching the official dubbed version, right? are the voice actors male or female for 'em? o.o i've only seen fansubs with the japanise voice actors.
but yeah, trying hard not to give spoilers! ^^;
and for that i thank you haha. but yeah i'm trying extremely hard to commit to the english version. i know i could just watch the japanese subs online anytime i want. but there's just something special about looking forward to monday nights for me. i get done with school (3 classes no big deal) go to work, and then after that i like relaxing and watching tv. so i'm glad to be watching something new and not reading subtitles y'know?
but as far as i've seen the only voice that really threw me off was regena's i could've sworn that he was a she. but each innovator seems indrogenious in their own way except for the two that physically look masculine.
