I mean actually winning something worthwhile. Not those free 20 oz cokes or a free movie pass. Have you ever won something like 1000+ in money or a trip to somewhere or... y'know.. something really neat?

Sometimes I wonder if people that win such things actually exist. o.o

Won a telephone in a raffle in my first bowling league, and won a 90 dollar scholarship at a bowling tournament once. Other than that, nope.

Hmmm...well Cartoon Network had the summer "Cartoon Cartoon" thing going like 7 years ago and they called my house when I wasn't there. I didn't know you were supposed to say "Cartoon Cartoon"...so my dad answers the phone but...he doesn't know to say "Cartoon Cartoon". So technically I won it. =P

I don't think I've won anything in contest before...

Although those models from Japan that come in the same box but are random? I got Chun Li from a Street Fighter one, which is what I wanted. 😛

That's it though...

I remember playing Bingo at some old Christmas festival at my school in first grade. I jumped in at the last round and scored the biggest prize: a MASSIVE Christmas teddy bear as big as I was at the time. ^__^ It was cool.

Now, my brother on the other hand, won free prom tickets for drawing a movie-style poster for a song they performed at the last choir concert. That's pretty sweet in my eyes, as I didn't have the money (or desire) to go to prom.

I have won a couple of things...

When I was 5 or something I entered a barbie draw and won a plastic tiara.

When I was 7 I submitted this into a magazine
I hope I've improved since then :O

I also came runner up in a regional book-cover designing competition when I was 13. Won an assortment of little things, including a kick-arse book.

None of these things are particularly fantastic but there you go.

I never really win anything but a few years back my parents won a widescreen TV. However they didn't really need it (it wasn't any bigger than the one in the living room at the time) so they gave it to me for playing my videogames. :D

I won a little tye-dye bicycle once from a Kid's Cuisine (with the penguin on the box!) raffle when I was about 6. Technically my Mom won because she was the one that entered.

Everything else is sports related and demonstrates that I USED to have glory days, but now I pretty much suck.

Figure skating:
1990 AIG Invitational - Freestyle 4 Gold Medalist
1991 State of Texas ISI - Freestyle 4 Silver Medalist
1991 Regionals - SW Juvenille Girls 7th Place
1992 Regionals - SW Juvenille Girls 5th Place
1993 State of Texas ISI - Freestyle 7 Gold Medalist
1993 Regionals - SW Intermediate Girls 6th place
1994 Houston Invitational - Freestyle 9 Gold Medalist
1994 Houston Invitational - Interpretive 9 Gold Medalist
1994 Regionals - SW Intermediate Girls 12th Place
1994 Blue Bonnet Open - Intermediate 5th Place
(This is obviously when I quit competing at Regionals (the route the Nationals ie. the stuff thats on TV) and just became a test skater for awhile)
1995 - 1999 I competed at AIG Invitationals, Houston Invitationals, and State of Texas all for Freestyle 9 and won every year mostly because no one else skates on that level at recreational competitions.
2000-2004 I totally quit to show my parents.
Since I've quit I've won 1st in 2 competitions on Adult Ladies Gold Level and 2nd in 2.

Non-Figure Skating Stuff: I won a few medals for gymnastics as a kid in level 5 at competitions I now don't remember the names of. I was MISS HIGH KICK 2001 in high school drill team and made all star cheerleader a couple of years in junior varsity.

So I hope things that I worked to win count, because stuff that I've just tried to win on my own never work. :(

Won my copy of Twilight Princess from an issue of NP. The ad said the winners would be the first to play it, before anyone else. I recieved my copy two months after the release, lol.

Um... I was the highest scoring Alto II for Illinois Music District IX for two years in a row ^^; Which meant I had the opportunity to compete against 71 of the best music students in Illinois to sing the national anthem at a college basketball game.

I ended up not making it that far, but still. Two years in a row. I always joked about being "the best of the worst", but that's still a pretty good accomplishment, if I do say so myself ^^;

(the girl who did get to sing the national anthem the first year I auditioned came from my school as well. She was the highest scoring Soprano I and totally deserved it. I don't know about the second year)

So yeah. It's not a monetary prize or anything like that, but it's still an honor that most people can't even imagine making it to. I had the opportunity and made it pretty damn far. I was also pretty good friends with the girl who did make it all the way to the end.

I won a GBA & Sonic Advance 3 from a magazine prize draw :) I don't actually remember which magazine - it could have been the Big Issue. I thought the prize would be something like a t-shirt, so I was really impressed.

I won our office sweepstake on the Grand National this year, pocketing 20.

That's about it for me.

I won a Burger Bucks coupon for Burger King at a school raffle once. I still have them since I don't go to BK :crazy

I have a lousy winning streak, so I was pretty surprised that I even won that.

I told this story before when it happened, but I'll breeze through it again.

Back in March, I won $250 on Game Show Network's late-night call-in trivia show, Playmania (aka QuizNation). They were looking for a specific list of 5 films that contained either Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie. Ocean's Eleven, Tomb Raider and Mr. & Mrs. Smith had already been taken when I got through, which were all my answers. So I had to scan an online list of Brad's films right on the spot, and I lucked out when I chose Seven.

For someone who's always wanted to be on a game show, it was a dream come true. Now, the mission is to do it face to face and not just over the phone. You'll see me one day, I promise you.

Don't forget your consolation prize from Beat the Block, Brian... That was won through skill, even if you only came second.

Well, I never won anything...

...but I can tell you that National TV programs read and put on real e-mails. I got mine on the O'Reilly Factor. Yeah, funny seeing MY name on national TV.
