For one of my homework assignments for a class I'm taking, it asks me to take an important event or important person and ask 10 people what comes to mind when they think of that event or person. Then I'm supposed to report these responses in the paper, and to explain how I'd form a mosaic with these responses.

So, what I'd like is a response from at ten people (others may comment if they want to, but I'll only take ten responses for my assignment). This response should, for the sake of brevity, be only about 1-3 sentences long. I will not report names, only responses, so you don't have to worry about losing anonymity with this. Post about what your thoughts and reaction are to the subject. And here is my subject that I would like to get responses on:

Jack Thompson.

Nothing Jack Thompson does makes him come off as having full possession of his mental faculties.
I mean seriously, one time he filed Gay Porn pictures as Evidence when he could've just left a link.
You can also tell by his quotes that he's quite the unprofessional person.

Jack Thompson is a classic example of an over-reaction to a subject with a horrendously under-researched and poorly presented case regarding the continuing controversy of Video Games in general. By standing out against so many 'so-called' depraved games, he resulted only in making a public spectacle of himself, and a joke out of his own case - essentially, he achieved nothing of merit because of it.

While there certainly is merit to sticking to one's guns, a lawyer flat-out insulting people trying to have a rational dialogue with you, just because they're "gamers", is nothing short of undignified, idiotic, and totally unbecoming of their position. Jack Thompson did just that, and ultimately the man got what he deserved with his permanent disbarment, an action by the Florida Bar that's likely to destroy his very livelihood. This all could have been averted if the man just had the decency to remain civil, apologize for his mistakes, and engage in intelligent discussion with gamers, instead of the mud-slinging, threat-making, First Amendment-ignoring tirades he would regularly go on, making this something of a modern tragedy...

I wonder if these are short enough for him to use...

These are fine, CT. As long as they stay about three sentences, then it'll work out. Thanks for your concern.

I think Jack Thompson being disbarred is a very good thing. He was known for wanting to ban certain video games, which I disagree with for two reasons. One, I love video games, and two, I hate it when The Man tries anything fishy, especially censorship. Freedom to the consumers!

Okay, I linked this to a number of people in IM, and got my ten responses that I needed. Thank you all for your support!

While I don't know very much about him, I don't like his apparent tendency to blame certain things on entertainment, but at the same time, I don't like the idea of labelling him "anti-game" for blaming violent games either, and there seems to be an almost dogmatic anti-Thompson mentality in some gaming communities...

Jack Thompson is the epitome of "the road to hell is paved with good intentions." That his good intentions are covered with a haughty personality, a liar, and a man who is perfectly content at blaming inanimate media for the actions or failures of rational human beings is just icing on the cake.
