Good movie. Very good movie.
But so emotionally draining and intense that it doesn't merit a second viewing, simply because of how the impact would be lost.
And Will Smith did all right.
Thoughts?
Considering that everything Will Smith is in is gold, I definitely want to see it. Haven't yet, though. Probably will do so with some friends this weekend.
The movie was okay.
It just annoys me so much though, how they changed some of the most important elements of the book, and took ridiculous creative liberties with the ending, which was vastly different from the book.
The vampires were never that dumb...
What's in a book doesn't always translate well to film. For instance, most people don't want to see a sad ending in a movie--which the book had.
28 Days Later set in New York. Don't get me wrong, that's a great movie to imitate. I liked both of them, and Will Smith acted his heart out. But the very first time someone said the word "infected", it was 28 Days Later set in New York.
Hahah, that's exactly what my roommate said when I told him about the plot of the movie. 😛
Srol, that's basically every zombie apocalypse film known to man.
Only the zombies in 28 days later arent really smart. They just bite you. And chase you. Least in Legend they frickin set traps.
And in those two movies they aren't actually dead. So they are really only psuedo-zombies.
Can we actually call them psuedo-zombies at all? Because they can die-and if they have to be killed in order to reach zombie status, then no, I wouldn't even call them that. Lets call them muckamucks ! Cuz muckamucks sounds like something you'd call infected humans that like to peel eyes out with their thumbs.
Uh, zombies can die, too. Destroy the brain.
Okay, I just watched the movie, and I have to say that it was very bad.
Spoilers (Select To Read): It was just Will Smith talking to himself (a dog and mannequins) for two thirds of the movie, and Will Smith yelling at some woman and her child for the other third.
I'm assuming that you didn't like Tom Hanks in Castaway, either?
Just saw it... they don't say a lot of things. Will Smith did a great job. IMO the plot kinda sucked. They don't mention scat about the virus. It seemed something was missing in the end as well. Blast them infected zombie creatures. Poor doggie, he was adorable.
Actually Sam, I enjoyed Cast Away, as I like survivalist stuff like that, and also in Cast Away Tom Hanks was just a person trying to survive. In I Am Legend, Will Smith is trying to survive, a scientist, a zombie hunter, and some other things.
Also, I'm not very good at backing up my opinions =/
Like I stated, they should've followed the book. There was deeper character development, no 'survivors', and the vampires (not zombies, vampires) were still living, thinking, smart people. The ending was alot more thought provoking, as well.
But no. Will Smith had to blow things up.

I, Robot anyone? Maybe some Men In Black II?
Back on topic though, I've not seen this film yet. I've mixed feelings on whether I want to as well, going by what's been going on in this thread and what other folk I know have been saying of it too. Having never read the book it's based on, I could probably enjoy it.

Men in Black II was a good movie. I enjoyed it.
I, Robot, in the other hand, didn't see so I can't make an opinion on it.

I loved both actually... Hell, the only movie of his that I didn't like was Wild Wild West... but that one was just plain bad.
Pursuit of Happyness, Hitch, MIB 1 & 2...

I cannot wait till Craig sees this thread.
Saw the movie over Christmas, and I thought that Smith carried off monologuing for most of it pretty well.
I don't know what the competition's likely to be, so I won't flat out say that he deserves an Oscar - but I'll be disappointed if he isn't nominated.

I enjoyed it myself, even though it was bad. You're not really supposed to take it seriously even if the filmmaker did. Even Will Smith said it sucked but that it was fun to make, so there had to be something good about it (even if it's only the Kevin Kline in drag joke).
Eh, I take that back... If anything, because of Salma Hayek... mmmmmmm
Exxactly!
Seen this movie before Christmas. Thought it was decent. Could have done better with the ending and some certain things. I didn't go into it with any expectations, so that might have helped.
