Back in August, Tennesse had a sales tax free weekend so I bought me a new desktop, and I gave my old desktop to my sister. To connect to the net, she needs a wireless adapter which I planning on getting her for Christmas. So, which is better a PCI adapter or an USB adapter?

PCI is typically faster than USB, iirc. Don't know how much this affects anything but yeah.

USB:

Very portable: just install software and you are ready to go
Speed: not as fast as PCI
Verdict: consider as an inexpensive alternative. Also consider this if you have a laptop (or you consider to get one).

PCI

Speed: faster than USB
Portability: you actually have to insert the card into the computer into an empty PCI slot.
Verdict: if you got the moolah, go for it.

Really, at my local Wal-Mart the USB is about as hight as the PCI. As a matter of fact, the cheapest USB adapter is 32 while the cheapest PCI adapter is 36/37 dollars.

I purchased two USB wireless adapters for the price of one PCI adapter.

FYI Dreamer, most non-craptop laptop's already have built-in wireless. In fact I rarely see one come out now without 11n already onboard.

Well, I do have a laptop but it's a fairly older model, which was probably made before Wi-Fi became the norm, as it uses Windows 2000.

I did forgot to mention that most new laptops have wireless built into them.
