Yesterday on my way home from school, I almost got hit head on by some
idiot in a truck!
I was going around a turn in the road and he was
coming from the other direction.
As we were passing he crossed the
yellow line and forced me almost into the ditch.
I had both of my
right side wheels off of the road.
When I looked in my mirror, the
fool was all the way over into my lane.
Ah yes, the "crazy idiot driver who goes into your lane JUST as you happen to be there" routine. I've been through that at least once.
The most memorable time I remember was when I was riding with this girl in her car, and we were headed over to the church for a blood drive. As we were talking, I looked ahead and noticed there was someone driving towards us - on this hilly, two-lane road with ditches on either side - on our side of the lines. I exclaimed a warning, the girl swerved to the right, and we barely dodged by escaping onto the grass on a fortunately-not-so-deep ditch. The girl, in the thrill of excitement, told me that if I hadn't been with her there that she would have died. We then carefully guided the car back onto the road and continued on our way. At the time, it struck me as a sort of religious experience - I survived for a reason. In retrospect I still think of it that way, even if I'd forgotten it until this thread.
The girl? Saw her a couple of times after that, and then she vanished out of my life. There's the unfunny punchline. Sadface.
Let these be lessons to us all to pay attention on the road.
That's not the kind of encouragement we need. D:
cosmos is right, dont belive dumb luck like that is common either. i'm glad you're okay btw, sorry if i'm saying that a bit late.
nowadays it isnt enough that you drive according to traffic rules to keep safe, but you need to watch out for the bad drivers as well.
