Every URL I access through IE returns a DNS error. Firefox works as usual. Any ideas?

No unusual entries at msconfig startup.

OK. I tried running a webserver locally and IE can connect to localhost. IE can not reach the router control panel. Perhaps it's router related?

The answer is simple.

Also try...

OMG LANGUAGE WARNING!!!!1113243323121

Also, reboot router, check router settings, if still fail then try resetting to defaults and reconfig it manually.

If this doesn't work then

If still fail then your router is FARFED or someone Farfed it.  Unless you post router configs I'm just going to let Dash laugh and fall over repeatedly.

OMG

Darn you are good at this.

It was proxy, the first thing you posted. I even did a reset of the internet settings and that did not work so I have no idea why it was set to seek a proxy.

The tally for THAT little net bug is up to TWENTY infections this month alone.  I recommend running a spybot scan and manually empty all your temp folders... AND clear your system restore.   This little asshole likes to hide.   Pray it's not that one variant I found that colonizes the registry and requires shredding the files in the command prompt...  THEN repairing the registry manually.

I had that not too long ago. I ended up having to reset the proxy settings on IE.

That bug sure is making the rounds.

I have no idea, but it started with a fake virus scanner.

I saw it called palladium once. I used to know the viral name or something.

I call it the Deep Insecticarnoid of that Realm thrice uttered as Kennaquhair.
