I mean, the number of hours involved is less than undergraduates, don't get me wrong, but the actual coursework? Mercy mercy (specially for Math majors; Calculus of Several Variables? SO MUCH LINEAR ALGEBRA BLARGH).
Well, managed to survive the first semester of grad school this summer; time for round 2.
Anybody else around here about to head back to school? Or are there any old people around here who'd like to regale horror stories of their college days (humor is also accepted).
I'll be entering my super senior year, if that counts... And I will be taking a grad level course in Power Systems D:
Godspeed, Ultra!
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?????????
Seriously why grad school? Ultra, what's your major and what made you make a noose on the rope? (After the first 2 years you figure out how to put the rope around your neck XD)
As for me, I am officially a 4th year poor graduate student. Will be defending my comprehensive examination sometime in October after I submit my 1st First-author manuscript for publication. Sad news, no I'm not any closer to finding the cure to HIV-infection in Africa... or am I?
Horror story: I am still in lab... working... Been here since 8:40 am and have to be back before 9 am tomorrow.
What made me do it: Bad decisions? I'm considering 9 more years of school ... yeah med school is a maybe for me after I get my PhD
Perks: I got to go to a conference in China and am organizing one for Australia
am organizing one for Australia
Which state? I'm in Western Australia.
Me? Nah, I've finish education for now. Rishi and I are hanging around chilling while you lot are pulling your hairs out.
However Wes is expecting his Alevel results and is going Uni next year. If he gets AAA in his results he's going Cambridge (best British university, third best globally last I checked), if he gets AAB he's going York as I understand it. Cause he's a smart-arse. So wish him luck everyone 😀
I don't think I'll go back to college to finish my original degree (meteorology) since my heart was only half into it (That and I hate hate hate math) sooo...yea. My favorite subject is science but boy do I suck at it, haha.
Once I get the funding, I'll go to culinary school, whooo.
am organizing one for Australia
Which state? I'm in Western Australia.
Student Forum is in Queensland, AU. Somewhere in Brisbane if I'm not mistaken

Ah yes, Brissie. Nice, nice!
I'm currently studying to be an electrical engineer. So far, it's much better than computer engineering.
good luck~
i've finally finished all educations and now face the joys of probably working somewhere that will likely being stressful and boring. yaaay!

Well, major is Math. Been that since Fall 2006 when I started as an undergraduate.
Graduated Spring 2009. Started grad-school at the same institution this summer. Major is still in Math.
Fortunately, I have a scholarship that pays for everything. With a lot left over. With any luck, I might have my Master's by 2011.
And judging by the responses of others, I'm in the lonely boat that prefers the abstract to applications.
Hey, don't worry. I'm currently a music major. Few things get more abstract than that :3 Of course, music and math go hand in hand, so who knows.
Speaking of which, I'm in my third year at the local community college. I'd have graduated by now if A) my music theory teacher didn't screw me over my first semester and make it impossible for me to advance with the other classes you must take concurrently.... @__@ it's a long story, and B) if real life didn't happen, like getting married and working 40 hours to support Craig while he waits for the government to get their thumbs out of their butt to give him his green card.
Of course, I don't regret B in the slightest. 😀
I'm also paying for every class I take for right now, since I've missed the deadline for this semester's student aid, so I'm slowly trucking along with seven credit hours per semester. Once I get my associate's in music, I'm thinking of continuing and going for nursing or something. But we'll see what happens. I've got a stable job right now with plenty of opportunities for advancement. A degree will only speed up the inevitable process.

One more year of undergrad to go, and what a joy it will be. I have to navigate the university's bureaucracy oh-so carefully to ensure that they put both majors on my diploma, since:
1) The bureaucracy is utterly incompetent and have done things like drop students' majors all the time
2) My second major is self-designed, so it would not at all be surprising if they ignored it
After that, the fun really begins. Three years of law school, ahoy! Truly, a field that will likely pay enough to start paying down the incredible student debts I am and will be incurring.
Entering junior year of college. Still no clue as to what I want to do with my life.
My BSc degree in Physics is more than enough educations for me, as such I could not be arsed with any further post graduate based course. (Physics has melted my mind more than enough).
Also at usian system namings as when you say "graduate" is it from what i call college (at 18) or uni
UKian:
Secondary school (upto 16) -> College (16-18) -> University (18+ with undergrad courses lasting ~3yrs).
Graduate from Uni @ Creo
Yah.
K-12 (upto 18) -> College/Undergraduate (18-22+, depending on choice of major) -> University/Graduate School (22+ constituting Master's and Doctorate; graduate school often occurring at the same university one went to as an undergrad, like me)
Note that college and university are usually interchangeable terms in America.
This topic makes me sad. VERY, VERY sad ;-;
*Grumbles and rants about how gov't wouldn't approve his FAFSA for god knows whatever reason which made it impossible to get a scholarship and is too much of a coward to take a loan for fear of something ****ing up and all. Oh and let's not forget about lack of transportation to get to any half-decent colleges..............*
*Kicks a puppy*
Currently looking at the job market and thinking that, whilst as far as I'm concerned there's no such thing as wasted time if I'm learning something, my MSc seems to have very little point. I must admit, guys, that I feel sorry for anyone stuck in the graduate jobs scramble at the moment, given the skewed levels of supply, demand and funding.
Hukos, do you have any community colleges nearby? I'm a half hour's drive away from mine, and the in-district tuition is relatively inexpensive (and I'm in one of the most expensive counties in the country @__@; ). If you want, send me a message and I can do some research for you.

Me too, man.
