I don't know if anyone else has seen the whole Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited, but basically it's a new service Marvel has launched that gives you access to a sizable portion of their back-library of titles as well as a few ongoing titles as well. They had a lot of bugs when it first launched. I tried signing up a few days ago, and every username I tried to put in, it said was already taken. By the time I got around to "Srolenhoivenmeister", I realized the signup was broken and waited a few days. It seems to be up now.
I don't know about anyone else, but I feel like they tailor-made this for me. I've always wanted to read more comics, but there were always a lot of obstacles in my way. For one, I always had trouble finding a good comic shop. In New York, the best were in the city (Jim Hanley's), and the local ones had poor selection and people working their who smelled like feet and stared at my chin hairs as though they wanted to rub them.
Then there's the continuity thing, I feel like every Marvel title except the Ultimate series(and it's getting there) has oodles and oodles of continuity as an obstacle to anyone who wants to come in. Not a problem any more.
Finally, I know a lot of people have said they prefer to have the actual physical book in their hands, but for me, that's actually a negative thing. You see, I lose things. I think I'm followed by a portable black hole. Things just dissappear.
Example: I used to own the Sonic Archie comics 1-150.
Gone.
So I'm looking forward to this. Can anyone reccomend any titles I should start out with?
I'd say Cable & Deadpool, if for nothing else than that Deadpool is hilarious.
Take what Cyk just said.
Say it louder.
Rinse.
Repeat.
