Without Wheldon! Or the stars from the show! While the lack of Wheldon may not be such a bad thing but here? When it's dealing with his baby, which would have never been popular without him? Not so much.
What in the-! Sarah Michelle and Alyson Hannigan[and Wheldon...I think I remember who that is so he was cool as well] made Buffy for me, personally...so yea. This is a failure. Way to go Hollywood. >>
I will be damned if Whedon (no "l" in his name) isn't involved in this so-called project. Damned. Buffy isn't Buffy without the master himself.

LOL! You know like every character in every show, don't you? lol

I have the entire seven season boxed set. I haven't seen the original 1992 movie though...yet.

Dork.
...That's hot.
I haven't seen Buffy or Angel, but knowing Wheldon's Firefly and Dr Horrible, I'm really disappointed he won't be involved. That said, I'd rather see him work on a new Firefly movie or that supposed Dr Horrible Sequel but still.

What? How could you not know the name of Josh Wheldon? Who's this Whedon guy? Wheldon, creator of Firefly? The Wheldon who made Buffy popular instead of an obscure movie? The saying, "Josh Wheldon is my mister now?"
DARKER AND EDGIEEEEEEEERRRRRR
It actually is Whedon but I like Wheldon better so we'll go with that.
There should be a rule about remaking something that only ended six years ago. I can live without the same cast members, but without Joss Whedon this is just an excuse to sell a vampire film based on name recognition. Expect Underworld or something similar, except if Kate Beckinsale was called Buffy.
The 92 movie had nothing on the series, yo.
It was so lolable.
Personally, I think it's a bit too soon for a reboot on a franchise that's still got activre properties and an active fanbase. All that does is make it more like the Sonic fanbase in terms of bickering over AUs and canon.
I can't say that the idea of Whedon not being there fills me with the dread it used to, though. Whilst the original 1992 movie did nothing for me, the last couple of years of reading the season eight comic seem to indicate that Whedon's forgotten who his characters are and how to write them - and if another writer could get that original spirit back, then I'd be all for it.
But if it's not going to have that original feel, then all it smells of is a blatant cash-in on the BtVS franchise's name that ought to have the guts to get a name of its own and stand or fall on its own. It's not as though the demographic's market isn't saturated with vampires as it is.

Maybe the new Buffy's vampires will sparkle?
Personally, if they're going to reboot a horror type TV series, I'd vote for The Dresden Files...
