Nuchtos, Dirk, and myself have written new rules that are considerably more effective and less confusing.
Of particular note, moderators are considered mods only when they specifically say so, to make it easier for them to be regular forumers.
They all seem familiar to me. Indentations are fancy tho
just one small thing:
Quote:
Your sig and photo should be under 50K collectively.
I remember it used to be 50K ages ago, then it was increased to 150K(?), but why the decrease again?
they're less ridiculous than before. good job!
the 50k/150k rule is outdated and generally isn't acted upon any more unless brought to the attention of staff specifically. I personally feel that so long as it doesn't significantly slow another user's computer (like a 1+MB gif or something) then there shouldn't be 'strict' impositions on file size, meaning something only gets done about it if it's bothering someone else
I have never heard of the "uncheck your sig if it's bigger than the post you're writing" rule and have never seen it enforced.
Thankyou for giving a better, detailed description of some things guys. It's been needed in parts for a while.
Of course I only barely follow the rules at the best of times, going by this magical common sense thing, but it seems to have served me well. Still, I have a few questions:
"Do not attempt to dodge the censor. Any word that is caught by the censor is unacceptable." It's obvious that this means if you attempt to type a word with a couple of $$'s or such, or a small amout of many letters asterixed or obelixed out, ye'll be in fer it. But if you just type the word in full, and let the censor garble it into intelligible rubbish?
Also, I assume a lot of the more... clutter based rules. Those aimed at stopping threads and boards filling with crap, don't truely apply in the SPA?
Thirdly, I approve of the new mod relaxation. It was pretty much true anyway.
Lastly. *sets self on fire.*
Edit: Also, Wesu, I beleive this rule should be known as the Boxers Sig Standard ;D
The 50k is a copy paste thing and I upped it to 150k. Unchecking sigs is ettiquette and wouldn't be enforced except in extreme situations, so I may put that in an ettiquette recommendations list.

Then it's fine, because it is, as you say, garbled into unintelligible rubbish.
The extended version of the rules allows for self-censoring provided it "involve replacing more than half of the letters with letters or symbols that do not resemble the letter being censored" if you really, really need to tell people which specific word you were using.
