Because the Blackhawks thread is not World Cup thread.

All I want to say is HOLY CRAP, MEXICO. You curbstomped FRANCE. I am so impressed right now!

It also means if Mexico and Uruguay intentionally (or incidentally) draw, France are out of the cup. That's fairly epic right there.

Will be watching both of tomorrow's games very intently. Hoping to see both USA and ENG destroy their no-name squad opponents. I want both teams through to the tournament.

i'm a big soccer fan, and if you arent and want to check out the game schedule/scores, so far and all that but dont know where, use this yahoo site http://g.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/world-cup/schedule/

it also has a live blog instant update on matches, so if you cant watch the game for some reason its cool to read the blog they do during a live match online, just get on that site on time for the match XD

I want to see N. Korea and S. Korea do well enough to face off against each other.

IIRC, they only need to get 2nd in their respective groups to advance to face each other, right?

South Korea played today and are tied second place with Greece in Group B right now, but are 1 goal ahead, so if it ended as is, they would be second place and go through.

N Korea has only played one game and lost it, it's too early to say if they'll recover or not, given they played FREAKING BRAZIL and no one is going to win against them.

As for the whole Vuvuzela thing... I agree with Nick Cage.

Word to my mother country, dawg. (sarcasm, guess which team I'm rooting for)

I'd like America to do good but if an African nation (ANY) gets far in the World Cup, I won't mind at all.

Still don't get why people are shocked Spain lost. We keep hearing how talented Spain is and all but they haven't produced at all in the World Cup. France just doesn't seem the same without Zidane.

Spain won the European cup 2 years ago, which is why it's most surprising. Their recent team is champion in one of the most fiercely compettive regions in the world. It's something to be feared, given they bested Germany, Italy, France and England.

I watched the Mexico/France game... ON UNIVISION.

Swear to God, the first goal had the announcer screaming "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL" for a good 30 seconds, followed by "GOALGOALGOALGOALGOAL!"  It was awesome.

Just gonna leave this here.  For laughs

And after trouncing Australia, they Germans lose to the Serbs by the score of 1-0.

The referee of the Slovenia/America match was atrocious. Ignored half of everything that went on, then threw down three yellows in eight minutes, and then denied America the last goal even though the Slovenian team did everything except try to piggyback-ride the Americans in the penalty box.

The United States really came together in the last twenty minutes of the match and ought to have won. Bradley's equaliser made me weep with joy.

Ahhh okay, fair enough.

Annnnnnnd why can't the US always be aggressive like that?

I've missed so much World Cup. Dang work! But I heard about the U.S.'s comeback to a tie[that should've been a win]. Woohoo!! That's awesome! I definitely want an African team to rock though. So far doesn't seem like any will though. Also, where is my team, Portugal?! If they were in this they'd win by default. 😛

Portugal's last game was against Ivory Coast, a 0-0 tie.

They play N. Korea on Monday, followed by the last group match against Brazil.

That match was [very long list of naughty words that would get me permabanned] [sexually explicit insults] [trolling the England team] bad.

Never again.

Well, if I went to South Africa, got into that game and watched a bunch of millionaires outclassed by a team from a country I'm not even sure where it is in the world, I would boo too Mr Rooney.

I'm just glad I dont follow football.

England'll get knocked out in the first stages. If they're extremely lucky then in the quarters. That's what you get when you have a team who are horrendously overpaid and a naff manager who won't even tell his own team the strategy until five minutes before they get on the bus. I too am glad I don't follow footie. So much for national sport.

I'm much happier watching the heart-throb Jenson Button weave his way around a track <3 <3 <3

Add Italy to the list of teams that make me hate this Rage Cup!

I wouldn't be shocked if Brazil get's shut out against the Ivory Coast (not like they care anyway).

EDIT: Brazil 3-1 Ivory Coast FINAL

EDIT 2: OH SHI- Things are about to get SERIOUS! Near riot on the field between Brazil and Ivory Coast. Ivory Coast was playing dirty near the final five minutes.

Kaká (Brazil) get's a Red Card at 5 minutes left in game play!

GAME OVER MAN! GAME OVER!

After watching that Brazil vs Ivory Coast game. I guess I know what the Olympic officials do when on break because Kaká did NOT deserve that Red Card.

Thank you Portugal for bringing sense to this Rage Cup by doing the one thing that none of the other big name teams has done.

Dominate!

Sad thing is that I'm not even a fan of Portugal.

Spain vs Honduras - Does anyone really care about this match up, oh will you watch if Honduras scores two points within the fifteen minute mark?

EDIT: Spain 2 - Honduras 0 FINAL

I take it back. This game has been enjoyable so far. Villa making that spectacular play for the lone goal for Spain should be a highlight reel for the rest of the week. Torres had so many chances to add the Spain goal but no such luck.

I wonder how long before Honduras pulls a "Ivory Coast" in the second half?

Another Goal by David Villa

GAME OVER! Spain Wins 2-0!

Spain should've had more goals is right. Next is Chile and a win puts Spain on top of their group (So does the analysts say, not so sure why that does).

God I want to talk World Cup but I can't even LOOK AT THIS THREAD since I'm so behind. Also, not catching any World Cup chat on my facebook is @#$!ing IMPOSSIBLE since everyone is like "YAY X-TEAM WITH A GOLLLLLLLL" and I'm like FAAAAAAAAAARK!!!

Stupid work. I've been DVRing EVERYTHING possible.

All I can say is GAWD that Japan/Holland game was GARBAGE. As much as Japan was crappy on the offensive, I blame Holland for playing "pass the ball" the ENTIRE GAME. Literally, it put me to sleep. The goal wasn't even worthy. Poor guy's gonna sepuku for that one.

All I want to say is HOLY CRAP, MEXICO. You curbstomped FRANCE. I am so impressed right now!

Given that South Africa just beat France (and with France's off-field troubles), this is no longer impressive.

Fixed!

But unfortunately that's pretty much what happened. While South Africa did beat them, the team was already beat from the start (Even with the off field drama)

I would say it's a shame for France, but I never cared for the French team. With their constant use of American Football mentality.

WOOOO!!! RESULT!

HELL YEAH! USA score in the 90th minute to join England in the finals. I am SO giddy right now, that's EXACTLY what I wanted to happen. EN-GER-LUND U-S-A! EN-GER-LUND U-S-A!!!

This means we can meet again and I can laugh at my work colleuges. Laugh as their saviors fail them.

And once again, the United States makes me weep with joy. The Americans refuse to make it easy like England; no, they have to go to the bitter end and pull on every heart string.

America, I wish I could quit you. ;_;

That goal by USA was the stuff "Feel Good" Movies where made.

England didn't advance, they hobbled towards the finish line then collapsed draping one arm across.

Glad to hear that Ghana and South Korea advance, mostly to South Korea since it's very surprising how well they have played (Better than expected I would say)

Back to England...

NEVER AGAIN!

Screw off, you cretin. If USA plays like they did today v Algeria, I think our next match will be amazing.

And we'll win, cuz Mr. Howard doesn't cause auto-goals.

I'm already awaiting England's defeat at the hands of Germany in retribution for World War II. Italy played atrociously and were punished accordingly. Hell, none of the traditional powerhouse teams have been terrific this year. My bet right now is that Argentina will at least be in the finals, if not go all the way.

Meanwhile, in Group E...

“For Japan it’s a big win (over Denmark),” Honda said. “I’m glad we won but I am not
satisfied. The next game is more important. I want to show the Japanese that
nothing is impossible.”

For those who missed the game. Here are some of the game's highlights...

Yeah, that's some good teamwork!
