Ultra, you didn't answer why rape makes it OK. You said that it is a clash of morals, then just kind of stopped and got into incest where you brought up the rather inconsistent topic of psychological coercion as rape (why would it be more so with incest than any other category?).

Mada, my point was not that virgins cannot make comments on those subjects. But that at the time I was making comments AS a virgin, and now I am older and more experienced I do not stand by my comments, as I've changed my viewpoints a lot since making those posts.

I'm mostly trying to wonder, outloud, why Matt would make a topic basically saying "four years ago, you guys were kind of ganging up on Ultra and saying some stuff which I don't really agree with, even if I am on the same side of the debate." which is not really an extrodinary or even IRONIC thing.

Infact, people who are on your side and yet HURTING it through their lack of logic or poor arguement is more or less a fact of life. It happens.

I wasn't calling it anything particularily extraordinary, and maybe ironic might not have been the best word... it's just that this "same side of the debate" thing as you put it seemed to be even more extreme than that which I notice before, partly because abortion is something I feel fairly sure should be legally available yet still seeing some of the reasoning offered by the "same side" seems a bit uneasy...

Well, I wrote that a few years back, and I didn't quite put the point across that psychological coercion could apply to more than just incest, so I'll give you that.

Basically, while I don't think abortion in case of rape is okay (killing the unborn child doesn't undo the rapist's crime and does not punish the rapist), I won't pretend that the circumstances involved are equivalent to those in the case of consensual sex.

We keep them around because they're historical. They provide ourselves a chance to be introspective about our old opinions, and to see how much they've changed. It's a way of chronicling your growth; kind of like a yearbook!
