I have to side with Castor here. The only thing that the dub doesn't have over the original in Excel is a completely suicidal voice actress. The dialogue in the original was so screechy, loud and fast paced that it ruined her voice forever. The dub one doesn't go all out in the same way, which probably is a result of wanting a career after the show is finished.
i'm used to hearing japanes voice actresses sounding like that, it's creepy with the english version cause it's not real in the culture. so i'm still sticking with the japanese original in this one.
and really the english version has no excuse to be this bad, it didn't make the cartoon. it has only one resposibility and it sucks at it, what gives?

Again, personal preference. What you claim to be creepy may sound great to someone else.
I again go back to Alucard from Hellsing. I've watched both the sub and dub, and English Alucard is worlds above Japanese Alucard.

Once again, personal preference. What you think sucks, someone else probably enjoys.

Actually, the original english VA (Jessica Calvello) was told by her doctor to stop doing it after the third DVD. Starting with episode 14, Larissa Wolcott took over the duties.
I sit corrected. I must have got my left and right mixed up. I am now in favor of the dub moreso, as that annecdote is legendary awesome win for the actress involved, and if it was the US actress, then all the better.
ahhh my poor thread dont die!
back to listing,
anime:
Heat guy J : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90uXEjr38Ok
i guess if you like cowboy bebob you'd like this, although it's a more teen aimed anime with some gore... the story is about a futurstic world where a team of a private police force like orginzation uses a robot named J to stop evil gangs who are smiliar to the concept of a mafia. the story is more of a detective style, it's interesting and the ideas are new and keep you amused the dubbing was real nice in english so be happy.
i have to say though unfortunatly, this anime like a lot others has 2 flaws: it uses poor CG, and it has the worst opening themes i ever saw. i just don't get it, if all the animation is flawless why use CG... i wish they didn't.
Okay, I amend my previous comment. There is one anime that I prefer subs over dubs: Hoshii no Kaabii aka Kirby Right Back At Ya.
I hate that I have to read when I want to just watch, but I hate 4Kids' voices and edits even more. Why, oh why, did they get the license?
Guys, guys. Stop this sub vs. dub debating. No one will ever win. =P
I can't believe no one mentioned Geeker! Project GKR? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKBhGO7y834
It is the future, and Moloch Industries has a monopoly on business. Moloch is having a weapon built to help him rule even more of the world, an artificial human with god-like powers, called Project GKR. Before the artificial human can receive the programming that tells it how to use said powers, it is stolen by a punk girl Lady McBeth and a super-intelligent T-rex named Noah. They open the weapon, expecting to find something amazing, and instead, this slobbering, rubbery little guy comes out, with the mind of a child, who is barely able to control his nigh-omnipotence. The series is spent with Noah and "Becky" on the run from Moloch Industries, trying to keep Geeker hidden. Which is difficult, considering Geeker's inability to follow simple instructions.
The show was really dark and deep now that I look back on it from a more mature viewpoint, but it still had the candy coating that made it so fun to watch when I was young. Although today I can't help but think how scary and depressing a world the series creates. Geeker was probably the closest I've seen a western show come to anime without having a single drop of anime influence. I mean, who was it that pitched the idea of an underground race of intelligent dinosaurs? I remember when I was little thinking that was the shiznit.
Anyone at all remember Geeker? It was on around the same time as SatAM. Here's a picture:
I remember it, but I never sat through an episode. I only know of this show from the fact that it was created by Doug TenNapel, who gave us Earthworm Jim.

kirby's opening english theme was horrible.. remember the bit with "KIRBY! KIRBY! KIRBY!" ?
i heard the japanese one it was cute, the english song?...ouch!
oh and shoe of all cosmos, it's okay if others want to talk about dubs and subs. it's an interesting topic and relative. and i have to thank you for the geeker thing, looks awsome and the story sounds cool. i'm sorry i missed it, but this is where this thread comes in handy so thanks.
btw it reminds me of an old cool cartoon
Zid Zoolander (couldn't find a pic or video sorry )
it's a shame i couldn't show the opening title it was a good one, anyway the story is about a boy inventor zid zoolander (zizzy) who invents robots and machines to fight the evil company
who... i don't even remember what they do, but the manger was this hot blondie she was so awsome, her scenes were the highlight of the show espacially that zizzy had a crush on her.
oh also he has a tomboy sister that always needs rescuing and his robots have AIs and personalities so they were fun, not to mention the dubbing was perfect.
since you can't see it, i'll just tell you about the animation.. it's like byonic six, so it was enjoyable and good.
Aw, I liked the American Kirby opening. I guess I heard it so many times that it doesn't annoy me anymore. =D
It's not so much the opening (though "Kirby March" and "Kirby!" are much more fun in comparison), as it is 4Kids voices and the edits. They completely cut out any mention of the Galaxy Soldier Army, a very prominent group in "Hoshii no Kaabii." They also cut anything related to Japanese culture, and any non English language. Even the fictional language used was cut.
Also, you wouldn't believe how badly 4Kids screwed up the episode order. But 4Kids sucks anyway.
oh geez kayla, that's so wrong of them, i don't get what they're so afraid of. let cultrues colide!
anime:
la corda d'oro http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TgDuvQw3eQ
a musical anime, it's about a girl in a classical music school who runs into a fairy that gives her a magical violin that could be played with feelings. the girl joins a contest
and learns from the top musicians in the school how to play music with a passion while helping them with their problems.
it's a very interesting anime with stunning art and even if you didn't like classical music they introduced it well here.
Air http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkmHPff-OSA
this anime starts out cute then goes to total drama.. if you like touching stories this is a very deep one. the story is about a girl with a weird desease, when people she likes leave her she gets sick. she meets a travling puppeteer with an ability to move his puppet without strings and invites him to stay at her house with her irresponsible mother..... i really can't say more without ruining the story, but i'll say this, it's a big hit anime.
i advise to see the japanese dub cause it's a lot stronger... and the ending is unexpected, one of those anime's that stick to your head.
i just finished watching treasure island with my friend, its so much fun so i thought i should mention it...
cartoons are very fun now or back then, so i'll revive this thread
Takarajima "treasure island" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfH_KA2JXyo
the famous treasure island story done right, the anime is very fun but can be bloody and depressing at times, but it has all the aspects that made treasure island a fun story.
the witty John Silver and the brave young Jim were masterfully made in this show. the story is about finding the treasure on treasure island while having to race for it against evil pirates.
