i found this article fascinating and figured I'd share it with you guys. I think its worth it just for the image of Little Dot at the end. XD

Comics have become WAAAAAAAAAAY to serious and self-important nowadays. What do you think?

N'ah. I'll take my serious, story driven comics any day.

If I want stupid funny, that's what the Sunday paper is for. Not to mention webcomics. Pvp, PennyArcade, CAD, Snafu, VGcats, etc... in fact, last time I read the Sunday's comics was... ... ... well... it's been half a decade.

Don't get me wrong Lu. Perhaps I should have phrased it better....

I love story driven comics myself. hell I yearn for the old adventure style serial comics that were just fun. But that three letter word is whats missing in a lot of stuff nowadays as well - both on and offline.

I guess it just depends on what you read and how different ones tastes can be.

Also - most Sunday comics are garbage anyway: or need I bring up Cathy and Garfield.

I'm with Jin on the want of story driven, though DO NOT WANT at the illogical character nerfing Iron Man lusting multiverse re-opening madness of today.

52 = Rumored appearance of Terry McGinnis, though. So comics aren't that bad.

I blame Seduction of the Innocent as one of the major causes of the death of sales, as it more or less destroyed the innocence and idolisation of Batman and Superman in alot of eyes.

Then you have to blame TOTAL continuity dead seriousness.

It's not always a detturent. Maximum Cloneage was my first Spidey comic back in the 90's and even if my parents weren't even legal when the Jackal storyline that it's a continuation of, I found it to be fun.

Of course. As an adult I'm like "Spidercide?! Why did I think that was cool when I was 9?"

I'd like to segway an interesting thing I read earlier today. Marvel have officially announced they're going to allow people to subscribe to their site to view the entire back catalogue of various titles.

For $9.99 a month or $60 a year you can read every Spidey, F4 or Hulk comic going up to 2006, so the article claims, with more to come.

I'll link the thing on request.

Hopefully digital distribution can save the industry.

Wait wait. That reminds me. I heard that somewhere you can buy legal DVD's that have the entire comic catalog of said Marvel franchises. (So like one for Spider Man, Halk, Wolverine, all that.)

:o, Sure I could just go to the site and read them all, but I wouldn't mind popping in a DVD and reading some Maximum Carnage or some old school Fantastic Four on a wide screen while eating.

And yes, MOST Sunday comics are rubbish :o. Did Boondocks ever leave Sunday Comic life tho? They were really good. (which made it a plus every time I saw them in there....). o.o

Dot=Pwned=XD!

And uhh *sniff sniff* I smell Iron in this thread. Gonna leave now, its a purely disgusting smell.

Yes; the writer went on a six-month sabbatical, and then as the date of his return approached, he just flat-out refused to make any more. That's my understanding, anyway.

The cartoon lives on, however... AFAIK.

He stopped doing comics altogether in order to focus more on the animated series, which he's much more interested in.

Boondocks is the shiznite. The newer "exorcism" episode was awesome. Oh Uncle Ruckus, your racism brings me a burden and a very embarrassing loud laughter.
