MCCAIN

0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA

28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of th e money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN

15% (no change)

OBAMA

39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, ye t do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.')

OBAMA

Restore the inheritance tax

Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet. New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already) New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least....New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

i'm not sure why i'm bothering to humor you, but where did you get this information? you haven't given any evidence that this is more reliable than that "silly media circus of half-truths".

Ya know, if you're going to state these things are the absoloute truth, I'd prefer that each Yes/No be a link to a story confirming it, otherwise this is just a bunch of out of context "facts" with no indepth look into the reasons and opinions on such matters.

I mean, for instance, the offshore drilling thing. I read that Obama was in favor, but rejected the idea of drilling anywhere closer than 50 miles off of the coast, whereas McCain was in favor of 50 miles.

Also, the "pull the troops out" one, I need to see an indepth idea of each man's stratergy of withdrawl etc.

So your facts are pretty... well. Pointless.

Sod it. I'm making a point here.

http://money.cnn.com/2008...axproposals_tpc/index.htm

I looked over the actual tax breakdown and yes. Obama does seem to want people to tax more... ON PEOPLE WHO CAN AFFORD IT.

Call me stupid or what have you, but we have an undoubtable economy crisis and that wont heal itself. We, as human beings, as residents and citizens of the United States (ha, that includes me now) have to man up and have the balls to step to the plate and put back into the country we live in OR IT WILL GET WORSE. Upping taxes is healing the economy, and Obama WISELY wishes to put this burden more on the side of society which can afford to bear the weight, while letting the working class have enough room to breathe so maybe in a lifetime we can claw our way to the higher portions of the plate and pay back a little ourselves.

I'm not going to go pro-Obama or anti-McCain here. I'm just anti-thispost. Thispost is hugely and blatantly bias and after researching the claims for 2 seconds, realized just how much.

So. Uh. Where the hell did you get those numbers, Legion?

PS: The article notes that both policies more or less increase the national debt heavily. I would argue that both need to have the balls to tax enough to profit. There. I said it.

I will refrain from going either way but I think we can get some answers and a good basis of comparison after the debate tonight. It started a few minutes ago, so go tune in. This is the candidates themselves talking and not the media circus.

1. You've lived in this country for like a few weeks.
2. Our government does not know who is really in poverty as they do not take accumulated wealth into effect when doing these statistics.
3. If our government can't tell who is poor how do you think they will distinguish the middle class from the poor.

I know the united kingdom was an excellent welfare state but here in america we pride ourselves on not trusting the government.

I belive the word is ironic...But yes I admit there may be some negative things about the candidates here...But its all true...& like I said, im not that found of either party....Frankly i'd like to have a balanced candidate for once...But O do respect the fact that Mcain was a P.O.W. & well I'll admit im old fashioned...Im just used to a bland president. So thats why i'm slightly more towards McCain...But yea still I think Both Partys could have better Candidates..Or better Yet just Switch...I like both party choices for VP's alot...so how about we just switch McCain & Obama with there respective others!

From what I've read and heard Palin is crazy. She is against most women's rights.

One thing is I would like to create a clone and then put half of McCain and half of Obama's stuff into him and making run for president.

One of the things I hold against Senator McCain (as much as he reminds me of a nice grampappy) is he's against using embryonic stem cell lines. His health platform isn't good either.

If I were American I'd vote Obama because he's not a backwards twit. But then again I'm not really following this election thing much. So I don't know the full facts.

I find it hilarious that you say you've giving facts and not the lies the media "spews", then use the media as your source

I find it hilarious how every other country in the world wants Obama to be President, but he's still not pulling a blow out in the U.S.

Yup, I'm an Australian and I definitely think Obama is the better choice as President of the US. Too bad I can't vote though. Actually... nah, I don't care...

That chart is just trying to make Obama look bad.
- Favors new drilling offshore US
We shouldn't even need to be drilling!!!!!!!!
We need to invest in alternative energies.

-Will appoint judges who interpret the law not make it
How the heck do they know Obama won't?!?!

- Will institute a socialized national health care plan
Freaking better than the privatized plan McCain has!!!!!!

-Would pull troops out of Iraq immediately
well we're wasting billions of dollars over there for NOTHING!!!!!
